A couple of questions about DAS at DLR

Hi! My DD has high social anxiety and sometimes doesn't do well in crowds. She has ADHD so sometimes can't stand still (I can't either, tell the truth). She has sensory issues - would rather be running around barefoot with her fingers in her ears - and motor control difficulties (runs like Phoebe from Friends ;)).

If we try the regular line-up stuff (with FP if possible) and do our best to beat lines, and then find out she just isn't coping, can we go to guest svcs and get a DAS for the remainder of the day?

And, would her difficulties qualify for a DAS or should we just tell her to suck it up if she loses her mind?

Don't even get me started on her Dad and HIS grouchiness in lines, crowds, and noise. :P

Certainly you may request a DAS at any point during your vacation, it does not have to be at first arrival, especially if you think she may be able to tolerate them. You might also have a better idea of why/how the line isn't working if you try it first. When requesting a DAS, make sure you discuss her NEEDS related to waiting in a standard queue environment and not her diagnoses. DAS is "need-based" and not "diagnosis-based." Every person with those same diagnoses may be impacted differently and have different needs or no needs as related to waiting in lines.

Enjoy your vacation!

We use noise canceling headphones and buffer my son .. me at one end and dad at the other to give him jumping space while waiting.. and we always take him to Tom Sawyers Island to let him run like the crazy man he needs to be... :)
