Can you use them to pay for parking?

Also, we ended up with a lot of gift cards (around 40!). Is there a way to consolidate them onto one card ? (Preferably before we go). These are all the $50 ones, not the kind where the amount can be varied.

Yes you can use them to pay for parking.

And only way I know how to consolidate a gift card would be to use them to buy a more expensive gift card. Take 4 of the $50 ones and buy a $200 one.

The really only way I know that works best to covert gift cards is to load them onto a vacation account and then just use that account to pay for your trip. That is if you did not or have not paid already. You can load all the cards to the account then use the account to pay for your trip. It's free to open an account and load the cards to it. Also very easy.

Are you staying on Disney property? If so, couldn't you just charge everything to your room account then every couple of evenings go to the front desk and apply the cards to your balance? I hope this works because this is what I'd like to do this Sept/Oct when we go. In the past I've just brought a couple $$ worth of cards with me to the parks then use them to pay for tips (we were on the DDP) and souvenirs. It would be nice to not have to keep track of them during park days.

I buy the gift cards at Target using my Red Card then come home and apply them to the balance on my vacation. It's nice to watch that balance dwindle down! I don't think you can buy a gift card with gift cards, though?

Unfortunately, that's not possible. You can't purchase a Disney gift card with a Disney gift card.

As PP said, you can open a Disney Vacation Account and consolidate all of your gift cards there. You could then pay any remaining room or package balance, purchase tickets or tours/prepaid activities with the DVA. However, you wouldn't be able to use the funds in the DVA to pay off room charges you incur while at Disney. You can request a single gift card for the total amount of your account - up to $1000 - but you have to request it at least 4 weeks before you need it. Going by your ticker, that won't work for you.

The easiest thing to do would be to charge everything to your room and then pay the balance periodically at the front desk.

We charged to the room and then paid the balance off with gift cards. Works just fine!

Yes, gift cards can be used to pay for parking.

You cannot use a gift card to buy another gift card at Disney. Since you are asking about paying for parking I assume you are staying offsite so you will not be able to charge back to your room and then use the gift cards to pay the balance.

Yes, we are staying offsite. I guess our best bet at this late date is to just take a few gift cards with us every day and pay for all meals with those. There are six of us going, and we will be staying 11 days, so it probably won't take us too long to blow through $2200 worth of gift cards. I was looking at the menus at most of the table service restaurants and was kind of surprised at how expensive they got in the last few years!

Have a great trip, Jill.

And yes, the dining prices have gone through the roof in the past few years.

Enjoy!!

I believe you can go to a Disney Store in you city and they will combine the gift cards to one card. Not sure on the amount limit but I asked this question at our Disney store here in Texas and they said they could do it.

Hey Dan, nice to see you! Thanks for the good wishes--this is probably our last vacation with the kids, and we're taking my son's girlfriend too. Should be interesting!

The Disney Store here (Louisville, KY) said there was no way to combine them. The lady even tried a couple things, but the computer wouldn't let her do anything with them.

DisneyHardin, glad you mentioned the Louisville store in particular because DD and I are going this Saturday morning for the Inside-Out movie event for Disney Visa cardholders and I was going to ask if they could combine mine. No need to haul all my GC's in there now,
:thanks:

Glad I could help. I wish there was a way. I know the people at the front desk of the hotel groan when they see me come to pay off $1000 worth of charges with $25 gift cards.

I've asked at four different Disney stores in Texas, and none of them could do it. Neither could the 800 number on the back of the gift cards. Their standard answer is that their system doesn't have a way to combine them, and that they don't have the ability to purchase a gift card with another gift card.

hmmm...The one I was at was in San Marcos outlet malls? I asked about it because we were looking at ways to earn rewards/points and read about the gift card option. We usually go out there once a month and I'll check again.
