A couple of BWV questions

My son and I were looking at the virtual tours on the DVC member site and he has decided that he loves the slide at BWV (it's a little freaky if you ask me but whatever!). My question is, do they allow a child with water wings to slide down the slide and will I be allowed to "catch" him at the bottom? We had a very disappointing experience with this in Disneyland and I do not want a repeat of his disappointment at WDW. Also, do they have DVD players in the BWV studios yet? If not does anyone know when they will be getting them. And finally, last question, what kind of room request should I make to be close to the elevators, do I just ask to be close to the elevators or is there another way it needs to be phrased? Thanks for the help.

I don't think they let you catch children at the bottom of the slide.

Just ask for close to the elevator.

When we were there with friends last year, our friend was able to catch his DD at the end of the slide, but she wasn't wearing water wings so I don't know the policy on that. The pool was very quiet (we were there in January) so I don't know if they're a little more lax about it when it's not busy.

Yes they allow water wings and you can catch your child at the bottom. You just can't be right in front of the slide. I stand off to the side and grab her as she pops back up out of the water.
DVD players in the studios.....I know the larger villas already have them and the studios were to be the last done....so I'm not sure about this.
You can request anything you want, but remember it will be just a request. I found being to close to the elevators wasn't very good. One of our stays we were 4 rooms down from them and heard them going up and down. We sleep in a little so around 7:00 AM they start up......

Thank you Brownie! My son will be glad to hear he can go down the slide. It's his favorite part of the trip.

They will give you a water vest at the community hall, and they can go down the slide in that as well.

Hi. My DD's have been able to go down the slide in swimmies (water wings). But I have not always been allowed to catch them. Most trips I've had no problem. But last January (not a busy time at all) the lifeguards would not let us catch them. We still did and we tried to stay as far away as possible but still within reach, and the lifeguards kept yelling at us. My best advice is once you grab your kids get moving out of the area.

By the way at Beach Club they never gave us a hard time. Actually they were letting some little kids swim in the roped off pool area where you land for the slide. I almost landed on a 3 year old. But the lifeguard never told us to move or anything.
