I've been to Disney World before back in 95 and 2001, but i was younger, and my parents bought me everything. Now since i've had my own job for sometime, they are letting me pay for myown souvineers, which is a-ok with me, i have no problem with that, but i was curious as to how much certain stuff was.... a range of cost would be fine for me. I'm just trying to figure out how much money i want to bring with to each park.

Keep in mind, my main souvineer is going to be the scrapbook im making myself...

so... here goes nothing....

1. postcards. Do they have them at the parks (like specifically for epcot countries, or other parks in general) *or resorts too*

2. picture frames

3. scrapbooking supplies (ie: theme park paper, stickers, etc)

im thinking about purchasing the photopass cd, but im REALLY hoping that ride photos will be added to that option. REALLY REALLY hoping! that would be awesome! (but im not holding my breath!)

I know when i get down there i will want everything in sight, because that's just how i am ( :) ), but my parents just baught into DVC so i'll have plenty of opportunities to go down there!

oh and how much do mickey ears/stuffed animals of the characters cost (for a normal size. Nothing TOO huge! My friend has never been to the world before, and i wanted to get her a little something! Her fave is goofy, so i was thinking goofy ears or a goofy you can only get in disney world.

sorry for so many questions. I just have a lot to sort out in a couple months!

thanks for your help!

I can't help with costs but as far as the scrapbooking supplies go, you can get Disney papers, embelishments, etc. at local craft stores. I've gotten a ton at A.C. Moore (I don't know if they have those where you are). It will save you a lot of money unless you want your supplies coming right from Disney itself which is understandable.

Good luck getting your stuff and have fun on your trip!

LOL. trust me when i say i've been looking at my LSS. i've already gotten a TON of stuff, but i know there's more. im hoping to find some country stuff in Epcot because my LSS stores really dont have much. they carry UK, USA, and that's about it.

But i really want theme park stuff. not so much generic disney stuff, but the specifics! I want to make this book REALLY nice. im going to take a while to make it and i've actually purchased TOOLS to make this one, haha (paper punches, ribon, brads, etc etc etc) to add a little texture!

the only down side is i think i picked the most expensive hobby to have!

but thanks for your advice!

anyone else have any!!! Pretty please!!!

Hi--

I can help you with a few of the prices. For the postcards, many were $2.00 each. I am not sure if they had cheaper ones, but I did see a book of postcards for around $5.00 each that had, I think, 8 postcards in it. They had a TON of different themed ones, with the different parks, some with the year, some in the shape of Mickey Mouse ears...

The picture frame that I bought held a three by five photo in it and I paid 12.00 for it. It is plastic with all of the chararcters around it and the year at the bottom. I also bought one at the animal kingdom lodge for $16 and it holds a 4 by 6. I also got small frames with magnets on the back (probably holds a 2 by 3 pic, I had to cut it pretty small) and it was 44, I believe.

I dont scrapbook, so I have NO idea about stickers and paper.

As for the stuffed animals, a normal sized MM (about 10 inches?) was running about 20.00, I think. I didnt really see any stuffed animals that we had to have, so we just priced them. I am glad that we opted to get some at the Disney Store before we got there (Simba was on sale for $6 at Disney Store in mall)

As for the MM ears, they ran us $12.00. We got the pirate ones with the sash and earring in the left ear. We also got the multicolored one (also $12) and our daughter got the Stitch looking ones. I didnt think $12 was too terribly high and I am not sure if they charge extra to have your name put on the back, as we did not get any personalized. HTH

oh thanks!

You were really helpful. Guess i'll just stick to regular scrapbooking stuff, and if i need frames, i'll buy them at target or something! i cant believe that stuff is so expensive in disney. Well, i CAN belive it, but i don't want to! haha.

and 2 bucks for a POSTCARD!!!???!!!! that's insane! i might buy a couple books... sounds like a better deal. but that's about it. lol. i'll budget about 30 bucks for my friends bday and get her either a stuffed animal or a hat. I'll let her pick.

ugh. disney. i really want to work for them... but i think i would go to bed with guilty feelings at night, feeling like i just ripped a BUNCH of people off.... no wonder they can afford all that "magic!". :rotfl2:

Haha, boy do I understand that. Un-scrappers just don't understand how I have hundreds of dollars in 'junk'! Nor how worth it it is! Hope you find the specifics you're looking for!

You can get some really nice postcards for $2.00 - you can
also find some of the castle and other parts of the park cheaper.

I mailed myself a postcard from DTD to get the Tinkerbelle postmark,
which is just the same price as postage.

I got a booklet of postcards in World Showcase - I have found
a lot of paper at my local scrapbook store or on Ebay.

I did get a great castle punch, mickey punch and mickey edge scissors
while I was there and some awesome tape - just scotch tape
but it has the charectors on it - makes great borders.

I also found some neat items in the World Showcase countries
to go on each page, a coin in canada, some paper in Japan, etc.

Good luck!

Go to the big store in Epcot. They had a pretty large selection of Scrapbooking supplies, including some sissors that cut mickey heads.... I can't remember the name, but it is a really big store, on the left hand side behind the geosphere as you come in the front entrance.... near the fountain.

Hope that helps..

Oh yea, Mickey ears were around 10 bucks... so that should give you an idea...

Last year when we were there, the themed scrapbooking papers that come with stickers and stuff were 15.00 a pack. I think I bought 3 different packs, one had Mickey ears that were flags from the different epcot countries, another had papers of each parks icon - they all were really neat - hard to make a decision about which to get.

wow! thanks for all the information!

I can already tell i'll be spending a lot of time down there in any scrap supply area!

my next question:

Does anyone know how to get the stuff home with out it getting bent or damaged? With the new flight checking/carry-on rules, i'm thinking about just checking EVERYTHING, but if there really is no way to guarentee it, i'll just have to carry it on. I'd hate to think about spending all that money down there to open it up when i get home and find it all banged up!!! (yeah, i think i have OCD when it comes to scrapbooking).

But i do appreciate all your advice! You guys are the best!

Go to your hotel desk the day before you leave and mail it back home.... They should have packing supplies to protect it. That would be my advice. Even as a carry on, your taking a risk in the overhead compartments.

Last year I knew I was buying the stuff so I took an empty page protector box with me and put the packages in it. You could just take some cardboard and sandwich it in between. I've found that when packingpaper type items, for some reason the big front pocket on my suitcase works best - it stays flatter.

Even better.... keep all of your receipts, and take your goodies and receipts to your resort's gift shop and disney will pack it and send it out for you. The cost is not to bad (most expensive is $15.95 for orders over $100). You will not save on the sales tax like you would if you shipped it while you bought everything, but it still is eaiser then trying to get it on the plane. The package will go UPS goround and take 2 or so weeks to get to your house. Everything is fully insured, so if anything breaks in transit you are not out of luck!

As for post cards... the really plane one are only 85cents a pice, while the better looking ones/larger ones are $2 a peice.

Frames range around $20

Stuffed animals... the Beanie plush (12") start around $15 i think... then the next size up is around $30-35 (32").

And remember, if you have an AP or a Disney Visa (and spend over $25 w/ the visa deal, dont have to use the visa, just have to show it) you can get 10% at the World of Disney at Downtown Disney

Even better just tell them when you buy it you want to mail it home - you will not pay FL taxes on it then and what you pay in shipping will be about what taxes would have cost you....that way you are not dragging it around waiting to ship it.
