Today, one of my 8th graders came running up to me in the hall. This was our conversation:

Student: "Miss! Miss!" (We are all Miss. We have no last name) "Have you ever heard about a game called Virtual Magic Kingdom?"

Me, in shock: "What game?"

S: "VMK. It is a Disney game."

Me: "I think I have heard of it. Tell me more."

S: "Have you played? What is your title on VMK?"

Me: "Didn't you know it was against VMK values to tell people your VMK name in real?"

S: "Miss! You have to play it! There was this really hard quest this weekend and the prizes were really sic!" (sic is cool, i think)

Me: "Yes, those silver ears are cool."

S: "You can do magic if you have the right pins too!"

Me: "Can you like dance in a ring of fire? Because that would be really sic!"

S: "Yes you can! It is called Dancing Inferno and I can do that magic!"

Me: "It would be even better if you could find buried treasure on your computer."

S: "Oh they have a magic pin that does that too. But you can only use it once. Unless you finish that hard quest."

The bell rings.

My student ends the conversation like this: "Miss, you really need to try the game! You would love it!"

Me: "thanks! I will have to look into it."

Not only does this young man have no idea I play VMK, but he has no clue that I played pirates for hours this weekend (or is it weak end?) and it took me 55 hours to get those ears! :rotfl:

What a great story, and kudos to you for encouraging his excitement and conversation instead of boasting about your playing ability! :goodvibes What's your vmk title, btw (this isn't real, so it's ok... ;) )

:rotfl: That's a great story! What a weird coincidence that was. Shouldn't that student have been old enough to realize it was weird that you were asking for such specific stuff and it was all actually on the game? :rotfl2:

You are cool Miss (no last name)!

Great story! Thanks for sharing. (Wouldn't it be a hoot if he was on your friends list? - giggle -)

How terrific, thanks for sharing. :goodvibes

I can only guess your students know you are a Disney freak? :rotfl:

ETA: It's definitely "weak end" now for me. And I said "moon" instead of month in real life today. Ah!

That's way too funny...and cute. ;)

There's no way I'm going to tell my students that I play VMK. Not even a chance...alright, there's a chance, but I'm not telling them who I am! :)

heh...

You may have even shot at some of them this weekend miss :rotfl:
