A Compliment to OKW Owners - Your Resort is Lovely!

I just wanted to pay a compliment to OKW owners. I really think OKW is lovely. We went and ate at Olivia's twice last week and when the sun is shining on all that great landscaping and pastel buildings, it just feels like beautiful, sunny Florida. We took our kids over to eat on one of those days and they were like, this is great, can we stay here sometime? They liked the slide and all the palm trees and just the general Florida feel of the resort. Very pretty place.

Littlestar thanks for the great compliment. We love OKW for many reasons but one of them is for the wonderful warm feeling we get when we stay. Glad you like it. By chance will this maybe persuade you to buy points there? LOL

wisbucky, I actually thought about it for a moment and then I thought, I've already got points scattered around three resorts. If we added on again, I'd probably try to increase them at BWV to bring that total up. But, I wouldn't mind having some at OKW if I inherited a bunch of money!

My husband and I jokingly said this was the 1st trip in a while where we haven't called our guide to do an add-on.

I really like Olivia's restaurant at OKW. The buttermilk chicken breasts are my favorite. Our family agreed that Olivia's is going to be a regular "to do" thing on every DVC trip we take from now on. The pictures on the walls of the members makes it feel really special.

Hi there,

I think OKW is lovely too. I think some snobbery from "other resort" owners who try to put down OKW. They often see it as the last chance ressie option. It is beautiful, well laid out and great to stay at, they all are. Just a pity some people have the mines more exclusive than yours attitude.

OKW is better than all the other DVC properties in one VERY KEY area.....it has bigger sq. footage than all the over DVC!

Glad you can appreciate OKW. I think it gets short shrift sometimes because it's them IS Florida -- but as you noticed Florida done to the finest.

I'm so glad to hear all the positive comments about OWK. My son and I will be experiencing our first OKW stay in 53 days (not like I'm anxious or anything!!). Our home resort is VWL, but we have also enjoyed stays at BWV, BCV and VB. I was so sure that we would like OKW that I have booked an OKW stay for our "girls only" trip (me, my mom, my sister and my niece) this June. I am a BIG fan of Downtown Disney, so I think I will really like the close proximity of OKW to DD.

We spent 9 nights at SSR and on our last day we took the riverboat to OKW. My it was lovely, I loved the atmosphere...the palm trees it was gorgeous. We stopped and ate at Olivias which is a nice family restaurant with prices being very resonable. OKW is on my list to try on a future vacation

We are very excited about staying at OKW for our first time this summer. I showed my family all the pictures on allears, and DH asked if we were going to bother with the parks at all! LOL! The Florida look was what I was impressed with. I like themed places, but the whole Key West look grabbed me.

It's nice to hear OKW not getting put-down as a "retirement community" or comments that it has "no magic". We love OKW. We find it beatifully landscaped and has a cozy "neighborhood" feel with just the right amount of that Disney touch . Glad you enjoyed Olivia's Littlestar. It's one of our favorites.

We will be there in a little over a month! We are so excited! DH and I visited OKW last trip just to see what it was like and we LOVED it! Since we are going in March (pretty busy) I made our ressies at BCV at our 11 month window so we could be sure to have a room. At the 7 month window I called and switched to OKW. MS was surprised! Said people usually do it the other way around.

We are very excited to be staying there. This will be our first time in a 1 bedroom too so we are looking forward to that too. We have "requested" a first floor golf course view--for DH and my DS stroller! We'll see if we get our requests.

Can't wait! Can't wait! And since I just had LASIK on Friday this will be my first trip ever free from contacts and glasses!! WOO HOO!!!!

most guest comment on how big the 1 and 2 bedrooms are compared to the other DVC resorts.

Yes, the OKW is surpose to look like the Florida's Key west - I think they did a very good job!!!

you will love the balcony with enough room for everyone to eat breakfast on the table in a 1-bedroom and up villa.

i am one DVC er who wishes they would build another style OKW resort next after SSR...........i love the huge rooms and really want parking next to my room............

spiceycat, we were just visiting to go eat at Olivia's. We spent most of our time at VWL. I just think OKW is extra pretty on a sunny day. I like the crushed shell walkways, too. We stayed one night in a one bedroom three years ago at OKW (we couldn't believe how big the 1 bedroom was).

So glad you recognized the "magic" of our little "home away from home"! If you were all that impressed with just eating at Olivia's, wait until you experience the luxury of a 1,2,or 3 bedroom villa there!

I've also heard great things about OKW and will be booking 2006 there as it's my home resort and we haven't stayed yet, ihear that some units are quite far from pool / restaurant etc, what areas would you recommend that we request ? thanks
