I normally don't write a Pre-Trip report but given all the current changes going on I decided I would this time to maybe help out those navigating upcoming trip. I've been reading a lot of negativity about the new changes on the boards and I'd like to announce that I've started this trip planning with a completely NEUTRAL attitude towards MM+ and FP+. Basically it's all new to me so why not just go with the flow until I see what it's all about.
I had planned this trip in my head several months ago because we were originally intending to go this past September and had to cancel. The next available dates in our schedule weren't until after the New Year so we booked a 10 day trip for the end of January. After researching dates and costs and getting a ballpark price for what I wanted I emailed Jill McGuire at Small World Vacations. She and I emailed back and forth a bit and came up with a package that took advantage of Disney's Stay, Play and Dine Discount. I'm really glad I decide to have Jill book the package for us because 3 weeks after the initial booking she called to let me know Disney had released an additional discount saving me another $200. That's not a huge discount given what we are paying but it covers one of our tickets to La Nouba so it's a bonus. Additionally it's $200 that I probably wouldn't have saved on my own so thanks Jill.
So far everything is working as it's supposed to. Yesterday was our 60 day mark and as promised the FP+ bookings were available to us on the website. I was easily able to choose my FP+ for each day of our parks visit.
In booking FP+ I was forced to choose 3 FP, even if I didn't need all 3. That seems a bit wasteful in the sense that I am depriving someone else of that FP when I know I won't be using it.
I also disliked the restriction of a single park for each day. We have always park hopped and as long as Disney allows it always will. I am hoping this is a feature that will come in time as the FP+ is fully rolled out.
Stay tuned...
