A College Girls Disney Adventure

Hey there...thought I'd join in even though I'm a little late. I love all your pictures in your fun poses. My sister made fun of me for putting my arms up in the air, like in your pic in front of the DHS tree. But it's way more fun than just standing there! haha

HARRY POTTER! Isn't it awesome there? We went in August and had such a good time.

Oh, and that caramel cupcake looks amazing. Yum!

haha, no problem. Better late than never right? And I'm glad to know that someone else likes to do that too! My mom thought I was carzy to for some of the pictures I took. I guess weird pictures are part of being in your teens/ early 20's right? And yes, HARRY POTTER IS AWESOME!!!!! I was on cloud 9 the entire time:cloud9:. I'm like obsessed with the books and movies so even though my family is usually strictly disney we are now hooked on going to IOA one day for Harry Potter. For my mom in particular this is huge! I find it funny that I didn't offically get into the books untill we got promised a pizza party by my 3rd grade teacher if we read it, now I am like the ultimate harry potter fan! And yes the cupcake was AMAZING!!!! I would get it earlier in the day and let it thaw out a bit before eating it since the cupcakes are chilled. It is soooooooooo much easier to eat later on. I learned this the hard way and the carmel wouldn't stay on my cupcake and the frosting would slide off. Hope you enjoy my Trip Report!

Hi everyone :) So last time I posted we had just seen the world showcase players and were about to go to the epcot resorts along the international gateway. If you remember this was a sort of last minute decision and we were both looking forward to it. My mom had been through the gateway before with my brother on one of there trips that it was just them so she kind of knew what the area was like but it had been a long time ago since she went there so it was kind of new to her. For me on the other hand this was a completely new experience for me. My mom never had much interest in going to that part of the resort with me so that made me not really care about going there. I knew the part exisited but we had our must-do traditions and neither one of us wanted to break them because it would feel weird to us. However, that changed once we had booked the swan for my brother's honeymoon (That is one of my parent's gifts to them is paying for their Disneymoon). This entire trip we had been paying close attention to what disney did for couples and for fun things we could provide them for the honeymoon. I loved watching newlyweds and other couples explore the parks. In keeping with this theme we figured it would be super fun to check out the hotel area that they were going to be staying in. My mom also had a couple of questions for the concierges desk about bride and groom mickey ears and other cute surprises (My brother's fiance really, really, really wants to get the bride mickey ears and she wants my brother to get them 2. He is not as keen on this idea as he feels like it is not very manly but he is willing to wear them to meals and certain other places for his fiancee). Anyway back to the TR. We went through the International Gateway at around 4:50. The sun was starting to set and it was absolutely gorgeous! I loved taking that walk down there. Once we passed through the turnstyles there were a couple of different paths you could take. We chose the one that went by the boardwalk since form our angle it seemed closer to the swan and dolphin. I absolutely loved this walk through the boardwalk! It was super pretty and was quite relaxing and peaceful. I will note that we had forgotten our coats in the hotel room at this point and it was begining to cool off so we were getting fairly chilly but we seriously didn't mind (It was probably the same temperature that out other nights had been at around 50 degrees (Farenheit), we would have been fine with the jackets on). As we were walking through the boardwalk we noticed a cute looking gift shop that we wanted to check out since we were there. It was fairly big for a resort gift shop and had plenty of stuff to look at. Remember in one of my previous posts how I said that i love the kids menus at restaraunts because I can color? Well, at this shop they had a kids table that had coloring sheets, I being the big kid that I am decided to go over there and do some coloring. I don't remember what I colored and if we actually bought anything in the shops but I do remember having fun in there and it was warm (Score!). So after that 15 minute detour we continued on our way to the swan. About half way through we noticed a cute little bakery. We decided to go and check it out since it was cute and we wanted to soak up the experience so we could give good details to my brother and his fiancee. (I'm getting tired of writing out my brother and his fiancee so I have decided to give them each a DISboard ailias. If you have any good suggestions please let me know. If you have any good aliais's for my mom that would be great 2. I'm soooo not creative and I feel like I should give her a DISboard name 2.). Anyway, we went in the bakery and decided that nothing in there looked like it was worth all the calories so I just took a picture of the mickey cake since it had awesome details and it looked very Disney. So after continuing to look around the boardwalk and take in all the sites and sounds we finally reached the end of the boardwalk right as the sun went behind the horizon. AT the end of the road they have a sign that tells you to go one way for the swan and dolphin and the other way for the yacht and beach club. We went the direction of the swan and dolphin and it had just lit up and let me just say that it looked absolutely gorgeous! We went into the swan- it was fairly easy to tell which one was which. We then tried to find the concierge's desk and realized we had to walk around to find it so eventually we found it. We waited maybe 5 minutes before we got to talk to the lady at the front desk. She was very helpful which was greatly appreciated! We decided since we were there and they would obviously be more affected by the marathon than pop century was we decided to ask here how were should handle transportation by car that day since that was going to be challenging. She was more helpful than the pop century people were in this regard and explained to us the process and told us that we probably would be fine. So on that note we decided to do some more looking around the resort. We checked out the resort gift shop Cabana's and it was very cute and had a surprising disney feel for some place that wasn't owned by disney. after exploring the gift shop we checked out the pool area and it was soooo pretty and nice! we relaxed here for about 15 minutes and just soaked it all in and texted my brother and his fiancee about where we were. They were very excited!
After relaxing a bit we decided to head back to epcot. Once we turn the corner and got back on the main pathway we decided that we still had a couple of hours before we needed to be seated for illuminations so we decided to check out the yacht and beach club since we were there. Let me just say I FREAKING LOVE THIS RESORT!!!!!! I'm sooooo glad that we decided to check it out after visiting the swan!!!! I now hope to actually stay here someday, even though I know that since my mom pays for the trips if we do stay at a deluxe resort it will be at wilderness lodge which I also love. Now that I gave you a preview to how I felt about the resort let me explain our tour there. The path we walked on lead us to the entrance to one of the yacht clubs quiet pools. We entered the resort and it took us a while to find the lobby. once we did we noticed how elegant it was. I believe that I took a couple of pics of the lobby before checking out the resort gift shop. I loved this gift shop!!!! it was so cute and had a great nautical theme! I loved seeing every disney touch in here. I don't remember if we bought anything in here, i don't think we did but I don't remember for sure (Yes, i know that that makes me a horrible DIS-er, i apologize). Anyway, we checked out this shop and we decided we should start heading back towards EPCOT. We took a while to find the exit to the lobby but don't worry we did end up finding it. We then started walking and at this point I started to notice the theme change for the yacht club to the beach club. As nice as I thought the Yacht Club was, the beach club was just as great in it's own way. I was sooooo excited to finally get to see storm along bay. I took several pictures of it. I took some pics of the Dock and then continuted on my merry way. It was only a few seconds later that I noticed Beaches and Cream!!!!!! I took several pictures of the outside area and the take-out menu. i was contemplating getting one of there legendary sundaes but decided against it for a couple of reasons. For one thing both my mom and I were freezing and for another thing the wait was really long and the last reason was that both my mom and I wanted our french pastries back in epcot. I then looked in the window of yachtsmans steakhouse, kind of want to try that someday but that would mean sacrificing le cellier which i NEVER want to do! So on that note we went towards the dock and managed to get on the boat that was just about to leave (Score again!) It was at this point that I realized that the boats also travel to DIsney Studios as well as epcot and the epcot resorts! I apologize for the lack of pictures this post has had. My photobucket is being weird at the moment and I can't find the majority of the pics I took. So i am just going to post all the pics I can find from our tour and post them here. I promise i really did take more pictures of the tour, blame photobucket!

Summary of the tour of the Epcot resort area: I LOVED IT!!!!! I loved seeing the whole area! I loved how pretty, quiet and spacious the walkways were and how manageable the crowds were once we got to the resorts. I would absolutely do this again next trip! My only regret was that we didn't spend more time in the area. I would love to go to the area for one of our dinners or something like that that would take more time.

Next Up: Touring EPCOT "AAAAATTTTTT NIIIIIIIIGGGGGHHHHHTTTTT!!!!"

Hi again everyone :) So once we got off the Friendship boat we got into Epcot very easily and quickly. At that point we noticed the international gateway gift shop so we went inside there and look around. We probably spent at least 15 minutes inside this shop. We looked around and I think we got some goofy pens for the kids we babysit for. We had a great time just simply looking around at everything. They sold those cute passports that we could walk around world showcase with and get stamps from every country. ahhhh good times. so anyway while we were in the shop this guy was walking around the shop showing everyone this really cute baseball themed Duffy bear. I took a picture of him walking around with it and he happened to notice and insisted that one of the CM's in the guest shop take my picture wit the bear. Here are the pictures.

P1000718.jpg

P1000720.jpg

My mom and I then decided to go pay so we could tour at a somewhat leisurely pace around world show case ending up in Italy. Before leaving we decided to participate in the world showcase trivia that they had there. I don't know about anyone else but when the world showcase shops have the trivia questions about what every country they are in I feel the need to participate in them. Here is a pic of the questions they ask you, do you know the answers to these. I think we only got one wrong.

P1000721.jpg

After paying we decided to do a mini world showcase tour (we would have 2 more full days at epcot so we weren't 2 concerned with getting 2 every country at this point. Here are some pics we took around the world (sorry that these are out of order 2, i guess I never got around to organizing this part of the trip album).

At this point we decided that it was time to go and get our french treats and wait for illuminations to begin. I got a chocolate mousse and my mom got the creme brulee. I also had the bit of marshmallow I saved from my lunch, it was toasted which was the only reason I saved it. When we were waiting for our pastries we were behind this family that was very cute. The little boy kept telling my mom and I about his day and was telling us about illuminations and some other stuff. His dad was debating what they should get and my mom and I reccommended the creme brulee and chocolate mousse. The guy took our suggestion and thanked us for it. I thought that was just a cute disney moment. I thought the little boy reminded me of SJ in the Movie "The Blind Side (Which coming from me is high praise).

We decided to go ahead and sit in italy by the gondola's That is our traditional spot every since my brother went to Venice for people to people (An american exchange program for people who are good students. I got invited on a trip to Japan but decided to turn it down since later on i got invited to go on my school's trip to London England. They also kept sending me stuff for the wrong trip so that didn't bode well for that trip anyway). We love to sit there and people watch. We always make sure we get to our spots before the half an hour time mark where they start to make the illuminations announcements. We use to sit in France but then the smoke started to tend to blow that way during the fireworks portion of illuminations which is how italy got in the mix. I have also sat in Japan which isn't a bad spot either. We had a great view of the lake from where we were sitting

P1060271.jpg

While we wait for illuminations we played a couple rounds of bunco, looked through our pictures on our camera, listened to m=the music and enjoyed our pastires. Before we knew it they had annouced the 5 minuted till illuminations time marker and that is when we pretty much always stand up so people don't push us out of our spots. We had a pretty uneventful illuminations viewing that night. My mom absolutely LOVES illuminations so we always just sit and enjoy it and try not to take pictures. After illuminations we took our sweet time walking around world show case to the exit. I believe it was Extra magic hours on this particular night but we were freezing since we had forgotten our jackets and decided to call it a night after a great day.

Next Day: Would we have any major inconveinences due to the marathon? and also our grand floridian brunch and our first day at Magic Kingdom :)

Hi Everyone (again!) So I decided that since i've been talking about them alot that maybe I should post a picture of my brother and his fiancee.

P1040310.jpg

This Photo was taken right after they got engaged. sorry for the interruption in the trip report. Just thought you guys would want a visual for the people that I am talking about.

Since I am on a role here I've decided to give you yet another update. This will be the last one for today I promise. So last night when we got to our hotel we went to bed pretty quickly after trying to warm up. We decided that we should get up really early since we didn't know what our day was going to bring transportation wise. As I mentioned earlier in the trip report, we didn't realize untill a couple of days into our trip that we were going to be there during the marathon weekend. Since we were going to be there for 10 whole days the crowds the marathon would bring were not going to be a problem for us. For most of the trip we had fun with it by playing a game that we like to call "Is this person a marathon runner?" We played this game sporatically throughout the trip and it made people watching even more fun than it already is. This particular day was going to be the real test for us making peace with our trip timing. We left really early for our 8:40 brunch at the grand floridian. we got ourselves some coffee and hot chocolate in our refillable mugs and then walked right on over to our car and started driving by 7:30. We were making excellent time and I was actually begining to think we would make it to the grand floridian really early without any hiccups when we got to the magic kingdom gates. We started to notice the runners running on the other side of the street. It was fun to watch them run and we even noticed someone running with a huge goofy hat on :). So once we got through the gates that was when our troubles began. There was a moderately sized traffic jam right on the side we needed to be on. We sat in a huge traffic jam at this light for at least 15 minutes, probably more like a half hour. I wasn't panicking at this point because it wasn't even 8 yet and we were sooooooo close. Once we FINALLY turned towards the grand floridian we noticed that the road we needed to go on was blocked off and we were going to have to park at the TTC and take the resort monorail to the magic kingdom. At this point it was around 8:15 but there was a bit of a wait for the monorails. We finally got on a monorail by 8:30 for the grand floridian.

Next Up: Did we make our ADR on time?

also, does anyone know how to put the chapter links up on the front of my TR? I'm just curious for next time

Woo, love the Epcot resorts! That whole area is so much fun because there's so much to see and do. You got some more great pictures!

The WS trivia sounds fun. I didn't even know they had that. Cool!

Yes...;) See the little number in the righthand corner of each post (that's the post # in the thread--so I just checked and this is post #66)? You should just click on that and it'll give you a link. It should end with the post number. Then just paste that like you would a normal link and that should give you the chapter links. :thumbsup2

Thank you soooo much for the help! I have seen other people do that on their TR's and i've been REALLY wanting to try that on my own TR. Also, I totally agree about the epcot resorts now. I feel a tradition being born. Now I am going to have to convince my mom that we should spend more time there. I have read so many great tips of things to do in the DIS boards that I am dying to try out. One of the top ones is actually TRY beaches and cream. I really regret not having tried it before.

Great updates. First of all I have to say, I'm jealous you got to have Butterbeer when you went to Harry Potter World! When we went last year the lines were just way too long and I'm still kicking myself over not waiting for one:sad2:

Walking around the Epcot resorts looks really cool. I would love to have a night to just explore all the resorts in Disney, they're all so beautiful!

Your Epcot pictures are so cute too! Looks like you had a lot of fun that night. And Mmm...chocolate mousse, that's one of my favorite treats from the bakery in France!:)

That's sad you didn't get to try Butterbeer when you were there :(. For us that was one of the main things we wanted to do believe it or not. If you ever get to go back to WWOHP defintely try the frozen one. It was seriously soooooo much better than the regular.

and yes, walking around the epcot resorts was very cool! I loved being there. and yes that night was alot of fun. I have gotten to appreciate World Showcase a lot more now that i'm older. I still have countries that I am not as fond of and don't like to spend a lot of time in. My favorite places to look around are probably Morrocco, France, Mexico and England. I enjoy all of the countries though (Except China, i don't know why but I always find myself spending the least about of time looking around here. I guess i'm not as big of a fan of the culture.)

and YAY FOR LOVING THE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE!!!! That is one of my look forward to it treats. We ALWAYS go to the pastry shop in france. I love that little corner area. My only complaint about the shop is that its 2 crowded. There always is a some what long wait when we go there. I think that it is worth it personally.

good morning everyone :) I woke up this morning with rebecca black's song "Friday" engraved into my mind so i thought I would give you another trip update :) So last time I left off with us finally catching a monorail at 8:30 in the morning right? luckily since we were at the Transportation and ticket center we were only 2 monorail stops away from our reservation. The monorail luckily moved quickly from there to the grand floridian with a stop at the poly in between. by the time the monorail got to the grand floridian it was pretty much exactly 8:40. so much for time to look around. well luckily we could look around after our meal since we didn't have any other obligations for the day. We checked in pretty much right on time and then went out into he lobby. as soon as we went into the lobby our buzzer went off. We ran back over to the CM and got into line for a picture with the castle backdrop behind us. usually they had mary poppins standing there for the pictures but that changed between the last 2 times we had eaten there. The picture line took probably about 10 minutes and then we were seated right away. I think we had the same table as we did the last time now that I look back on it. Isn't it funny how that can sometimes happen? well, anyway we didn't have any characters comming our way super soon so we decided to go up and get our food. They had there strawberry soup out even though it was breakfest time but unfortunately I didn't try it. The whole concept of fruit soup sounds gross to me. I got some mini mickey waffles, bread pudding, some eggs, some ham and I think some fruit and i don't remeber if I got anything other than that. My mom loves there sticky buns so she always makes a bee-line towards the pastry table. She also got some mickey waffles and I don't remeber what else she got. I do have a pic of her sticky bun. though.

P1060336.jpg

Soon after we got back we were greeted by some characters. Amongst them were Pooh Bear, mad hatter, Tigger, Mary Poppins and Alice. They use to also have piglet but he hasn't been there for the last few times we've eaten there. The characters were fun but a little bit of a let down after experiencing the kind of character interaction the last time we were there. For our August 2009 trip (the last time we were there before this trip) we had a wonderful mad hatter. He was super loud and obnixous like the mad hatter should be and he overheard my mom and i talking about the new alice and wonderland movie and how my friend thought johnny depp looked freaky as the mad hatter. He of course was not subtle at all and shouted, "What was freaky? Mary poppins? yeah I Knnooooww!!!!" Pooh bear also kept giving him the crazy sign as well. Although there were a few things that happened this time that were cute but weren't nearly as memorable as that was. One of those was a proposal that the characters helped with. Another was that tigger kept inadvertantly sticking his tail in my mom's face. oh good times. Here are some pictures we took with the characters

After we got done with that it was time for the Magic Kingdom. Next Up: The first part of our magic kingdom day :)

WoW , what have read so far is great sounds like a fun trip, You and your MoM Look great, I am real close with my mother as well. We brought her with us to Disney for her first time, and she is going back with us in December.. We Have a 4th of July trip Planned but much to hot for my MoM,:goodvibes I am going to read along now , thanks for checking out our first TR.....

I love 1900 Park Fare! Your character pictures are so cute, especially the Tigger ones. He's just so huggable isn't he?:goodvibes That Mad Hatter you had before sounds hilarious! I love it when the characters are really really into it. I wish my parents and I had had more time to explore the GF more, like you and your Mom did. That is the most beautiful resort I think I've ever seen! I really want to explore the Wedding Pavilion too as I already told my parents that's where I'm going to get married, and that they better start saving up:rotfl:
Can't wait to hear about your day at MK!

I can't see your pictures. :( It says bandwidth exceeded.

i'm sorry everyone about the pictures, I have no idea why they are showing. Does anyone out there know what exceeds bandwith means? I will keep you updated but I might need to rely on my writing without my pictures :(

I think it's just a problem with Photobucket. I tried to do an update last night but the site said they were doing maintenance. Just checked it again now and it still says that. All the pictures in my TR are blank now too. I'm really hoping it's just a problem with Photobucket but that could just be my computer?:confused3

YAY MY PHOTOS ARE BACK!!!!!!! I figured out that my whole problem was that I had exceeded my amount of allowed bandwidth on photo bucket since I don't have the pro version. So i'm sorry for not being good about posting, I just wanted to wait untill I could put up my pictures with my posts. Ok so I am currently preparing for my finals and have a lot of projects due with in the next 3-4 weeks so I apologize if I go MIA again for a while. With that being said I will hopefully post another update this week (My goal is by wednesday or thursday of this week).

Glad your photos are back!! Photobucket can be so confusing at times, I actually kind of hate it. lol Good luck on your finals and projects. Can't wait for the next update:)

Hi Everyone

So last time I posted I left off with my mom and I finishing our breakfest and going to the Magic Kingdom. The monorail ride was very quick and we were at the magic kingdom in no time. We expected that the magic kingdom would be unbearably crowded this day because of the 1/2 marathon being in the magic kingdom area. well, it actually wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. We were still able to get a fair amount of fastpasses and were still able to enjoy the park in a leisurely but productive way. Well, now that I got the overview over with let me get to the details of the day. well, the first ting we did when we approached the gates was that I gave my mom my little wristlet and she gave me my key to the world card and some money and i went to get a locker (The lockers will play a big part in our leaving the magic kingdom.) I was able to get a locker pretty quickly and once my mom got through security and into the magic kingdom we put our stuff away and off we went into the magic kingdom. Let me just say that the Magic Kingdom is probably my favorite park in Disney World. As much as I love EPCOT, the magic Kingdom just ooozes in Disney-ness (Yes I just made up that word but i feel like no real words can express what i'm talking about). Everyone can relate to this park in some way and pretty much everyone knows about it and can link some kind of thoughts and memories to it. Even if you have never been to disney you have had those dreams of being in the magic kingdom and seeing the castle. Any way so of course we took our sweet time walking down main street :rolleyes1 (Speaking of which my brother, his fiancee, my mom and i watched the old Disney Sing Along Video where they were in Disneyland on saturday and we were all singing along with pretty much every song. It was really fun and of course walking down main street usa made me think of that because my mom and I always sing it when walking down main street) back to your regularly scheduled trip report. Here are a couple of main street pics (Just as a warning: since i have been having all those issues with my pictures I probably won't be posting as many pictures, :sad1: sorry.

After taking our pictures we went over to our traditional starting point: TOMORROWLAND!!!!!!! and got our usual 1st MK fastpasses for....SPACE MOUNTAIN!!!!!!!!! After we did that (and got a decent return time as well- SCORE!!!!!) we went over to our first MK attraction of the day......BUZZ LIGHTYEAR'S SPACE RANGER SPIN!!!!!!! The wait was basically non existent (I know huge surprise!) and when we rode the ride I got my BEST SCORE EVER!!!!!!! I think my rank was planetary pilot!!!!! (My usual score usually puts me at either the space scout or ranger 1st class category, and i beat my mom for the first time EVER!!!!!!) needless to say i was super happy at that point but we decided to go on again a little bit later (I told my mom that it was because I didn't feel like riding it again ut in reality i just wanted to be able to gloat about my score for a while longer )

P1060359.jpg

P1060358.jpg

P1060354.jpg

After we did that we went on the Peoplemover. I know that this ride has gotten a fair amount of guff since they changed the voice overs and the ride name. My personal opinon is that since my mom always called it the people mover and therefore kept making me call it the people mover the name change doesn't affect me. the voiceover however made me very depressed! That was one of my favorite parts of the ride! I was very sad to not hear the traditional low echoing voice and the corny jokes like "Tom Morrow, Paging Tom Morrow". The actual ride itself hasn't changed much and the girl with the hair like angelica pickles's doll from "rugrats", I think her name was cynthia, was still there. Ultimately i still like the ride and it is still a must do and i'm sure i'll get use to the voice overs but untill that day comes i'm just not sure. After that our space mountian fastpasses were ready for use so we went on that ride and even though the only differences I noticed were that it was a little darker and the post ride exit was a little different i still enjoyed it. here is our ride picture

After our space mountian experience we walked over to Big thunder mountian for our next fastpass. The time was around 3ish but we found out we could go back at any point after that time during that particular day, not too bad. what would we do next? Stay tuned to find out!

Looks like you had a ton of fun in Magic Kingdom. Great update! I'm upset about the People Mover narration changing. I have only gone to Disney in the past two years for my very first time and never got to hear it. I went on the People Mover for the first time just a few months ago on my most recent trip and I tried to listen for the "Mr. Tom Morrow" thing and never heard it. I was disappointed. I hope they bring it back since I heard they did over the summer than took it away. Grr... I just have to give thumbs up to Space Mountain since I love that ride :thumbsup2 Update ASAP! :mickeyjum
