A clown suit??

It baffles me how some people are so offended and sensitive to things, if it is not physically harming you just mind your business why on earth make such a big thing about such a thing. I love people watching so seeing someone dressed in a clown suit would just be entertaining to me. Why take things so seriously...especially if you are on vacation. Just grab some popcorn and enjoy the show! popcorn::

I heard somewhere that "fancy dress" in the U.K. means costumes. I don't know if that's true, though.

Yes. That is what I was saying. In the US - at least where I am (NYC) - “fancy dress” would be more like formalwear. If it was not spelled out what it means, someone from the US could show up in formalwear rather than a costume.

OK! OK! I've now unpacked my clown costume, my cowgirl costume, my bride costume, my Scottish highlands kilt and my Southern Belle costume. What am I supposed to wear! Oh, comfortable casual clothes and the occasional more formal attire? But everyone does that???!!!:jester:pirate::santa::clown::cheer2::bride::wizard:princess:

I think the biggest part of this story is that participants where reportedly taking advantage of a 24 hour "unlimited" drinking plan.
This. This is what has made me not want to sail on Norwegian anymore because almost all of their cruises now have the “unlimited bar” included and I just don’t want to be on a ship with a bunch people who are drunk the whole time, which often leads to loud and disruptive behavior.

So maybe he got "monkey suit" and "clown suit" confused.

j/k:duck:I think the explanation of the brawl involving the over-indulgence of adult beverages makes a lot more sense.

Didn't they just announce that they were discontinuing the "unlimited open bar" option? (At least on certain ships?)

One can hope! I just went to their website, and this photo is front and center, ugh. I'm not anti-drinking, but I just don't want to be stuck next to people who are loud and drunk all the time. One of the major appeals to me of DCL is no "unlimited open bar."

It's one of the perks you can choose from but some will prefer specialty dining, wifi or excursions.

Honestly, I've seen more drunk/obnoxious people on DCL than on Carnival though. Where they serve alcohol, there will be drunk people.
