We are so blessed to have been able to give our DGD's first Christmas with Mickey at WDW. It was one of the best trips ever! Here's a list of "firsts" that I can recall.............
First plane ride (she was asleep before we reached our flying altitude and remained so until after we landed)
First meal at WDW: Similac with iron at Beaches & Cream
First ride: The Boats at Norway (asleep, wrapped up in her blankie, and securely held by her momma)
First park visited: Epcot
First resort: Beach Club Villas
First visit with Mickey: 12/26/02 at Studio M in the Disney Village
(we didn't want to hold her in line at Toontown Fair for over an hour!)
First character breakfast: 1900 Park Fair at the GF. She slept through the entire event.
First WDW purchase: A pink "My First Minnie Hat" sun hat
First WDW tear-jerker moment: Watching her momma rock her while quietly singing Silent Night during the Candlelight Processional on Christmas Eve. It was a precious memory that I shall always treasure.
First monorail ride: From the MK to the TTC on Christmas Day
First learned response: When we sat her on the couch (propped up by pillows) she would smile, stiffen her little back, and slide down. It was so cute! She did it over and over and over. She only slid 3 inches but I have never seen a baby do such a thing at 4 months.
First Splash Mountain experience: drips of water from our DS's jacket onto her hand (no, we did not take her on the ride!)
First skipped ride: Small World. She was too young to appreciate it and we didn't want that tune in our heads all week!
First "I'm tired but I'm not going to go to sleep" episode: Dinner at Italy. It only took 5 minutes for her to go to sleep.
First attention-catching moment: The Osborne lights
First special/proud/memorable event: After the Candlelight Processional, a young woman came up to my DD and told her that it was quite evident that she was a good mother. She noted her gentle cuddles, her constant attention, and her contented baby. She was very genuine in her comments and her admiration. As her mother, I was touched to know that my DD's maternal love was visible to others. My DD was warmed by the comments and it made her glow. (Note: it poured rain during the first 15 minutes of the program and DD was very adapt in keeping her daughter warm and dry. I was right there, ready to help, but my DD had it all under control. DGD loved the sound of the rain on her umbrella covering and her momma's hugs.)
*********
I'm still not unpacked (48 hours later) but DGD is glad to be home. DGD was a great little traveler and my DH was great to not say too much about all the stuff we took with us!
