I wanted a Christmas Eve wedding. I thought it'd be lovely: Poinsettas and candlelight decorating the church, dark green velvet dresses for the bridesmaids, red roses and holly in the bouquets. My mother talked me out of it, saying it wasn't practical because people have so much going on. Instead, we had a lovely summer wedding.
Know what? I still wish I'd done what I wanted, even if some people hadn't come. My daughters can have their weddings on whatever outlandish day they choose.
Back to the question: Would I go? Yes, if I wanted to attend the wedding -- that is, if it was someone I cared about -- I would go. I'd assume that it's not Christmas morning. By the evening, the presents are open, and there's nothing that'd prevent me from attending a friend or family member's wedding.
Mrs Pete~ My DH & I are huge Christmas fans and love the whole Santa scene so when we got married (19 yrs ago this 12/8
) we naturally decided on a Christmas Wedding. We had it on 12/8 so it was smack dab in the middle of the Christmas season but people wouldn't be too stressed to enjoy themselves. My centerpieces were minature live Christmas Trees I decorated with mini battery lights and decorated with babies breathe and a big red velvet bow on top. Under the trees I had minature gold boxes with 2 pieces of Godiva chocolate like gifts under the trees. My Jr Bridesmaids wore dresses with cream lace tops and the bottoms were dark green. My flower girl wore a Shirley Temple like Dress it was red velvet top with layers and layers of white lace for the skirt. My bridesmaids wore a dress that was Christmas red and a long scoop in the back were a double strand of pearls hung down. They also wore long white opera gloves. The men had red bow ties and cumberbands. The reception hall had 2 huge beautiful Christmas trees and tons of poinsettas. Santa came to the reception and brought gifts for the Jr Bridesmaids and Flowergirl and Ring bearer. He read Twas the Night Before Christmas and I have a picture of me in my wedding gown dancing with Santa. It was magical. Then we went to Africa for a 6 wk Honeymoon Safari. Even today 19 yrs later people still come up to me and tell me it was the best wedding they were ever at. I still get tears in my eyes when I think of how storybook it was. Thanks for reminding me.
No one in my family (immediate or extended) does a big Christmas meal mid day.

We're usually done with everything by noon on Christmas and usually do a double feature at the movies so going to a wedding would be fun for me.
