I have decided to come out of 2 years of lurk-dom to begin what will be my very own trip report! There will be lots of craziness between now and when we leave NEXT WEEK!!:cool1::cool1: But if you're along for the ride I'd love to hear from you, especially if I can help with any gluten-free dining tips!

Up Next: A Few Introductions!

First Up- ME!
I'm Heather, 26, a Disney Nut and Crazy Planner! I've been obsessively lurking here on the DIS since planning our first trip to the world in 2009. I grew up in California and Disneyland is our normal stomping ground, but finally making it out to Florida threw my obsession with the mouse into OVERLOAD!! I live and work in innercity San Francisco, and as much as I absolutely adore my work, Disney is my escape from reality. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2010 and since I stopped eating gluten I have felt amazing!! This trip will be my second encounter with gluten free dining at Disney and the first for WDW and the Disney Dream.

DBFF- Lucy
Lucy, 29, is my best friend in the whole world, and I am lucky she is *almost* as Disney obsessed as me! We traveled together in 2009 (the pic above is from MNSSHP) and it was the trip of a lifetime, so much so that we booked this cruise within a month of returning from WDW. Lucy works for a non-profit housing company and works tirelessly with our community youth. She's pretty much a go-with-the-flow kind of girl and she calms my overly obsessive nature.

Cierra-
Cierra, 19, is a little complicated to explain. Lucy started mentoring Cierra when she was 10 or 11, and by the time Cierra was in high school she practically lived with Lucy and I. When we began planning for our 2009 trip to WDW there was NO WAY we could go without her, we consider ourselves to be family:hug:. Cierra is now finished with her first year of college, she is an amazing young woman and we are so proud of her everyday! She will be joining us again for this trip, and we couldn't be happier!!

Here's a pic of the 3 of us from our 2009 trip

Nick-
Last but not least is Nick, 17, Lucy's little brother, he lives in southern California, but we are taking him with us for his very first trip to WDW! Nick is a phenomenal tennis player and a straight A student, it will be so fun to give him a break before he goes back to work as a senior this year.

WHAT: 11 days of VACATION!! 3 days in Southern California, 3 Days at WDW, and 5 Days on the DISNEY DREAM!!!

WHEN: August 5-16, 2011

Next Up: The Details of Our Trip!

I can't wait to hear about your cruise on the Dream! I was diagnosed with Celiac this spring and have been gluten-free since the beginning of May. We went to WDW in June, and I loved being able to eat that entire time without worrying about what was safe for me and without feeling like I was really missing out on a lot. (Oh, those gluten free Mickey waffles were to die for!)

We are booked on the Dream for June 2012, so I'm looking forward to reading about your dining experiences on the ship!

Have a great trip, and I look forward to reading your report when you're back!

(By the way, I highly recommend eating at Ohana. Chef Julie made me feel like a princess, she took such good care of me. The food was amazing.)

Signing on here. You're in for a wonderful adventure.

Best wishes.

I was on the Disney Dream in May, and I'm allergic to wheat. I'm sure you will have no problems eating in any of the ship's restaurants. I hope you've already let DCL know about your special diet. Your head server will likely handle your requests. Even at the Cabanas buffet, they can make your meal separate from the buffet and bring it to you.

Never be afraid to ask for something!! You can even request something for the following day.

My First Reader! Thanks for joining in!

My only other experience with gluten-free dining at disney was last summer at Disneyland and it was amazing, I couldn't believe how much they offered and how careful they were. Stress free eating is definitely one of the major things I'm looking forward to!

We are doing the QSDP while at WDW otherwise I would LOVE to eat at 'Ohana I love that place anyway, but it has the BEST gluten free reviews here on the DIS.

Thanks for stopping in! I made sure I called DCL to have my allergy noted on the reservation. Disney does such a great job taking care of allergies I am super excited to see what the cruise will offer.

Another excited reader here. Can't wait to hear all about your trip.

My wonderful son Thomas was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in 2004 then unfortunately Type 1 Diabetes in 2007.

We have booked the Disney Dream Cruise as a surprise for the kiddies in Oct 2012. So I can't wait to hear about your dining experiences.

Safe trip and have a truly amazing time.
