~~ A Celebration of Life-long friendship ~~ Sew Sweet 16 ~~ Now N' Thens 3/11

Your progress picture & the comments is going to be a big motivator for me. You do look younger and for some reason this recent birthday is hitting me hard. I don't really look old, but I feel it and you don't look like you feel old.

We just got a Jimmy Johns about three blocks from work and everyone is raving about them. All I think of is your comments (and now Lois' comment) about the saltiness of the meat. I have a bread problem that I'm trying to curb (read: I'm a bread addict trying to get that monkey off my back) and the thought of salty meat just makes me go :crazy2:

D you look FABULOUS! You have come a long way.
We have already starting talking about Thanksgiving here, and trying to make plans. However, a few things are up in the air and we have to wait. Thankfully we have some time.
It's nice Alli and Gus feel comfortable talking with you. Makes it so much easier.
Driving stick brings back such wonderful memories (kidding) will never forget my dad teaching me when I got my learners permit in my brothers new car in rush hour traffic. Boy did I learn fast. My dad told me it will come in handy one day, and he was right it did when we took a trip to Mexico and I had to drive a jeep. Now that was an adventure!
Have a wonderful day. Hope work went fast!

Wow!! You've done amazing on your journey!!

Thanks! Things have just been getting away from me so I have to refocus and let some things go. Kids have to come first. We had a great weekend with their school carnival on Saturday and Gilroy Gardens Sunday. Busy, tiring but fun!!

Hope you continue to feel better.

Woo hoo for finding a pair of boots! They are really cute. :cool1: I haven’t had a pair of boots in over 25 years because I can’t find any that fit even somewhat descent. (I live in Colorado so no boots is a BIG deal!)

Your Bubba Gump photo is A M A Z I N G! Every part of you looks GREAT! You look so much younger in your photo now.

I am sorry it’s getting harder for you to work at Target. I thought you've been happy working there. I hope things turn around for you.

I also love that the kids like to talk things over with you. That speaks volumes about how much they respect your opinion and also speaks volumes to the kind of mother you have been. Not an easy job, being a mom!

Well, if I remember correctly, the main reason you worked at Target was the multiple discounts on the Disney gift cards. Since they took half the discount away, and you don't have a trip planned for next year, you may be wondering what's the advantage of working there. On the other hand, you seem to really like working the holidays. Hope you had a good day yesterday….

…and a better one today!! I hope to get the Anna dress I'm making for Caroline finished today and take it to FedEx before going to the condo. I think we're going to be installing kitchen cabinets tonight, which will boost my excitement. Love when we get to the stage of making it pretty!

Good morning everyone!

Sorry I don't have time to do replies this morning...

My ddd (dear darling daughter) decided to re-plan her Halloween costume last night...

I woke this morning with a list on my computer of supplies that are needed... :scared:

Allison and Gus have decided to go as Mickey and Minnie...

Cool...

Awesome!

Right?

Guess what that means for me?

I have to make her a Minnie skirt on top of my regular work load...

And a trip to JoAnn's to get elastic...

And we have to find Gus a pair of red pants... :scratchin But she said we can do black if we can't find red. Phew...

And I have to make a pair of Mickey ears... we only have Minnie in our house...

Thankfully - I am crafty, I think I can pull it off...

But phew... I need to get upstairs to work on this week's bag, so I can start on Allison's skirt today too...

Thankfullly, they chose Disney - I am always in the mood to sew Disney stuff. ::yes::

And if anyone has a pair of plain ol' Mickey ears they'd be willing to borrow me, and mail them priority today (I'll pay for shipping)... It would make my life a lot easier. I"ll return them to you next week. ;)

I hope you all have a great day - prayers and good thoughts to all of you! :grouphug:

D~

Can't wait to see the pictures!!! they are going to be adorable.

I ALMOST BOUGHT THOSE SAME BOOTS!!!! I swear to you! When i went shoe shopping for new work shoes i had them IN my hand!!!

Good Luck with the costumes. I know they will be adorable.

Just an FYI i beat you over to Ariana's new trip report...

Such a busy D! Definitely not a boring day ahead for you. I can't wait to see how everything turns out. They will be the cutest Mickey and Minnie!

I was all ready to PM you and say I'd send Mickey ears until I remembered mine are child sized and have Peyton emobroidered on the back of one set and Charlotte on the other. Sorry I'm no help.

I've been MIA for awhile, the new job is keeping me quite busy, at stuff I love, so I don't mind at all. Between that and all the Disney planning I'm doing, I haven't been able to find much DIS time.

I wanted to thank you and Lois for your kind words about my suggestions from awhile back. I'm not sure how it's happened that the DIS has brought me to people I truly respect and care about, but I'm so glad it has. I appreciate all you guys share and what I learn from you, if there's any way I can help you guys out, I want to be able to.

We are off for our "big" Disney trip in less than 2 weeks! 5 nights at POR with my parents. Super excited, but I still have a ton to get done. Headed to the mall in a minute to see if I can find the girls what I'm wanting for our family pictures that we're having taken while we are at WDW.

I haven't read your post for a few days. So now I have to catch up.

The progress pictures of you looks amazing. You have don a great job.

Alli and Gus as Minnie and Mickey on Halloween sounds like fun. I hope you get to post pictures of them here.

Mickey and Minnie...Allison knows how to pick them, doesn't she?

Good luck with the last minute stuff.

And, since everyone else is talking about them... Boots. I love them but have really thick calves (part chubbiness part sturdy peasant/Scottish stock) so I rarely find any that actually fit correctly. Or comfortably. So - yet another motivator.

Everyone have a good day & prayers to those that need them.

Mickey and Minnie costumes! How adorable! You are so sweet to make the costumes for them – especially with only a couple of days to go! Good luck at getting them completed, although I know you will ;)

Sorry, I don’t have any Mickey ears but if I did, I would be happy to give them to you!

Sounds like a nice relaxing weekend!
The picture i took sucks BTW.... Alli is a better people photographer then i am... I don't like people! LOL..

Have a good day at target!

Oh your no fun. That's a great nasal clean out!

Wasn't me. <--- stolen from D

Don't worry about the picture Mo... The subject isn't all that great either. :rolleyes1 LOL

It's never me... ::yes::

Wow what GREAT progress you have made! That's awesome! Send some motivation my way please??

Thanks! There really isn't much motivation involved anymore... It's more of, I do it because it's how I live now - and I really enjoy it.

I totally understand not wanting to go to work. Ever since I got home from Disney it's gotten harder and harder to get to work because of stuff that's going on.
My daughter didn't get the interview so she's applying at so other places. She's a department manager where I work and really wants a change.
Yesterday was a quiet day. We went out to look at the new Vera bags a a local store but didn't buy anything.
I can see a huge difference in the before and after pictures. You really look good now. Healthy eating will do that.
I hope you have a good day a work.
Liz

Bummer about your dd not getting the job. I am glad to hear she is applying at other places. Best of luck to her.

Love VB bags... I really want a matching Weekender to my Perfect Petals set I purchased while in Disney - I know they don't have the Disney version in the Weekender, so I would have to get the coordinating print - but I would be OK with that. We now have a VB outlet fairly close to us, so I am kind of waiting for that print to get there.

Thank you... I still feel like I have a long ways to go. And I know the closer I get to my goal - the harder it will be... but I really don't have any time goals in mind... Well, I sort of do... but it's very doable. I think?

THank you - It was OK... It went fast.

I hope your cough goes away.

Thank you... It is... Very, very slowly.

Thanks Ruth... I am really nervous about hitting 40 next year. I feel way younger now than I did 2 years ago - that's for sure. I don't have the achiness and all the pains I used to have. I am sure some of that can be attributed to my size loss, but I am also sure that a lot of that can be attributed to my diet and how I eat now. I do have to admit - I didn't see it at first - but now I see it in pictures, I do look younger... It's a great feeling. It shocks me that a change in my diet and lifestyle can turn back a clock like that - it's a little baffling and unbelieveable... but there it is - in pictures. You can do this Ruth - I know you can... Small changes. They may seem so insignificant, but every little change adds up. I promise.

I totally understand. YOu should try JJs once... It is good - if you can eat the bread... but then again, if you are trying to give up bread, don't eat there, because they do have really good bread. :rolleyes1

D! You go girl!!!

Thank you! :thumbsup2

D you look FABULOUS! You have come a long way.

Thanks Lynee! It's hard to believe that I have been at this for 2.5 years! To me - that is just crazy. When I started, it was a race - like every other time... but I am so glad I took that step back and really changed my lifestyle. I cannot ever imagine my life the way it used to be - and it almost scares me to think it was like that. Even my girls say - when they see pictures - I am not the same person at all... both mentally and physically.

Yes, I am glad they like talking to me... They are fun to talk to.

Hehehe... Yes, driving a stick shift can be very useful... Now that I've driven Gus' car - I think I need to take the Jeep out for a spin. :thumbsup2

Thank you - you too. It did! Phew!

Thanks Sandra!

I totally understand - we need to do that from time to time. It's OK. SOunds like you had a wonderful weekend though.

Thanks - I am getting there. Slowly.

Woo hoo for finding a pair of boots! They are really cute I haven’t had a pair of boots in over 25 years because I can’t find any that fit even somewhat descent. (I live in Colorado so no boots is a BIG deal!)

I am sorry it’s getting harder for you to work at Target. I thought you've been happy working there. I hope things turn around for you.

Yes - I am very excited to have boots... Granted, these are not snow boots - they are just fun stylish boots, but still... I've been wanting a pair for a long time.

Thank you... It's hard to believe I ever looked like that. And when that photo was taken, I was already a year into my journey and had lost a bit of size - So it kind of shocks me that I already thought I looked good at that point. LOL

I am happy there, for the most part... I love the people I work with and I love working Mondays... I also love working the holidays.... It's just that sometimes I get in a funk and it's really hard to go into work. I am sure it will get better as the holidays get closer - it's my favorite time of the year to work there.

I also love that the kids like to talk things over with you. That speaks volumes about how much they respect your opinion and also speaks volumes to the kind of mother you have been. Not an easy job, being a mom!

Yah - they are great kids... I am honored that they respect my opinion - and I thoroughly enjoy hearing what they have to say.

Yes, that is the main reason I continue to work there. The discount on all the other stuff is nice too though. LOL It saves us quite a bit of $$ on household and groceries too...

Yay!!! I hope you were able to finish the Anna dress... And good luck on the kitchen cabinets - I can't wait to see pictures!

Thanks for stopping by Lois - you've been missed around here!~

D~

I can't wait to see the finished costume.

Thanks! I am soooo excited about them!!!

Can't wait to see the pictures!!! they are going to be adorable.

Me too!!! I am soooo excited!!! Everything is coming together so awesome! They are going to be adorable!

Hehehe... GMTA! They are super comfy... I am saving now for the brown ones, and it's possible I might get the black some day too.

Thanks!!!

Figures... I was working hard all day yesterday.

Such a busy D! Definitely not a boring day ahead for you. I can't wait to see how everything turns out. They will be the cutest Mickey and Minnie!

I know... I was nearly bouncing in my chair yesterday morning when I saw the note!!! Thanks!!! I think so too... And I think they know it. LOL Allison is well aware of how cute they are together.

I was all ready to PM you and say I'd send Mickey ears until I remembered mine are child sized and have Peyton emobroidered on the back of one set and Charlotte on the other. Sorry I'm no help.

Ack!!! LOL Jennifer! That would have been too funny.

I've been wondering where you are and what you've been up to... I assumed your new job was keeping you busy, but glad you are loving it - that helps.

Awww... I love all of my Dis friends - I would bend over backwards for any one of you... It's amazing how such good friends can be found on The Dis!

Yay!!!! It's going to be an awesome trip! I cannot wait to hear all about it! Good luck with finding what you need the girls to wear - sometimes it's not so easy.

I haven't read your post for a few days. So now I have to catch up.

The progress pictures of you looks amazing. You have don a great job.

Alli and Gus as Minnie and Mickey on Halloween sounds like fun. I hope you get to post pictures of them here.

Welcome back Lillian. Thanks! I am getting there - slowly.

Yes, I am very excited! I will make sure to get permission from both of them to post the pictures here - I cannot wait... Everything is coming together so nicely. And they are such good sports.

How are your cats doing (and you)? Are they starting to go back normal again? :hug;

Hahaha... I was just shocked - because Mickey and Minnie were not even on the list for consideration... but now they are both so into it... It's going to be really cute!

Thanks! I got a lot done yesterday - surprisingly. Very happy with my progress...

They do make wide calf boots - I see them everywhere... but even so - I think they are limited in which styles they come in? I hope you are able to find a pair you like that fit. I am having the opposite problem with these boots - they are a bit loose on me, so they like to slouch down, which is annoying... maybe I can get Victoria to make me a pair (or 6) of boot cuffs - that would help them stay up.

I hope you have a great day too!

Mickey and Minnie costumes! How adorable! You are so sweet to make the costumes for them – especially with only a couple of days to go! Good luck at getting them completed, although I know you will

Sorry, I don’t have any Mickey ears but if I did, I would be happy to give them to you!

I am so excited!!!! I was actually thinking about making a red dot skirt for our last trip in August... So making this skirt isn't a big deal - it will get used again, I am sure of it.

It's just been hard pulling Gus' clothes together... They don't make true red dress pants for men this time of year at all... You'd think, maybe for Christmas - but nope... So, I think we will have to go with black.

Thanks! It's all good. I found a tutorial online - so hopefully they don't turn out too dorky. LOL

**********************************************************

I had a great day yesterday...

I lifted weights right away and I was up in my sewing room by 7:30! That hasn't happened in a long time!

I started my next bag... I had it all cut out and quilted by noon.

Then I ran out the door to start the futile attempt to locate red dress pants... I went everywhere... No luck. Poor Gus is going to have to wear black - I am certain he will be disappointed... But we will make it look good - I promise. :thumbsup2

I hung out with Allison for a while between school and work...

Then I came home and made her skirt... It turned out really big on me - which means it was really big on her.... So once she got home from work and tried it on - yup, it was too big. So, I ripped it apart last night and I'll put it back together today. But it's super cute! And she is really excited to wear it - which, all of you know - NEVER happens!

Their outfits are coming together so nicely.

I had an idea for extra shirts for them to wear yesterday too... So, I worked on those last night, as well... They are going to make adorable pictures! :lovestruc

I am so excited to share these with you!

I really want to make V a Donald dot skirt... and she can be the "Angry bird" in pictures... but I am sure V would go for it - but Alli and Gus wouldn't - well Alli wouldn't anyways... So I haven't mentioned it. But it would be cute. ::yes::

Today... Well, I will be working on the applique for my current bag... I am super excited about this bag - I just adore the fabrics, they are perfect for these characters.

Once I finish the appliques, I will work on Allison's skirt... And both of their other shirts. I hope to finish all of this today. Then tomorrow I can work on the ears for Gus. Also, at some point - I need to go back to Kohls to get black pants for Gus - he doesn't have any.... Alli also thinks he needs a red shirt - since we couldn't find red pants... I like my shirt idea better - but we will see...

OK all... Sorry to keep going on and on about these costumes - but they are doing to be so much fun!!! And it's great to be sewing a bit of fun Disney stuff again!

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Prayers and good thoughts to all of you! :grouphug:

D~

I am excited to see the finished product on the costumes!

So, running to the mall for the girls yesterday was a little hit or miss. I was able to get Charlotte a matching dress to one I had bought Peyton for back to school. I had to go a size up, but she tried it on this morning and it is going to work fine. I still wasn't able to find leggings for her to wear with it, but if it's warm enough, I think I'll just skip leggings for her. If it's too chilly for bare legs, she has a pair of sweatpants in the right color that make work under the dress. I'll need to get her to try that on together and see what I think. I was hoping to pick up a couple of headbands that matched the dresses but I was only able to find some ponytail bands. I spent a little extra time at the store and was able to get Peyton a couple of outfits for one of her Christmas presents, then I got an email from Gymboree this morning for an extra 50% off online only and the stuff I bought yesterday is included in the sale. So, it looks like I'll be ordering online and returning what I bought yesterday.

Our Christmas pictures are pretty much settled. We're having them done at the Beach Club on our last full day at Disney. Going with a teal and blue color scheme. I'm not sure if I'll be wearing my boots, flats, or maybe even flip flops. The girls both need new dress shoes so what I find for them may help me decide what I am going to wear.

I still have lots to do to get ready in the next 11 days but I am making progress!

How cute Mickey and Minnie costumes for Gus and Alli. Hope we can see a picture. I had ears made from my nieces party I could have sent you, but the problem is I made them for children. They would be too small for Gus.
Have a wonderful day!

It's a shame you couldn't find red pants for Gus. Did you try a re-sale shop or golf store? Sometimes Goodwill has that type of thing. And wouldn't it have been great for them to both have those lighted Mickey ears? At any rate, they will be adorable as Minnie and Mickey!! Glad you are enjoying making their costumes.

I hit a snag in the Anna dress and had to walk away from it. In all my years of sewing I've never had a problem I couldn't figure my way out of. This may be the one. I was very frustrated yesterday, to say the least. I'll wait a couple of days to try again.

We did get the upper cupboards installed and they look great. It's been so long since we ordered them I'd forgotten how pretty they were. And they have soft close doors!! I knew the drawers were going to be soft close, but not the doors as well. Bonus! I'll post a picture on my ptr.

Hope that cough disappears soon. They tend to hang around a loooong time and it's no fun! Have a great day sewing. Can't wait to see these costumes and the latest bag.:goodvibes
