...... friends had family staying with them.
Last thing at night, the lady of the house decided that her kettle needed descaling so she left the descaler in the kettle filled with water as required, and decided she'd leave it overnight to do it's work.
(You know where I'm going with this don't you....... but I've started so I'll finish ;) )
Well............ the family were not on UK time and woke up really early and yes....... decided to make themselves some tea. There was the kettle already filled with water and they simply boiled it up.

............. they are now thankfully fully recovered but their stomachs didn't take too kindly to being descaled :(

Oh dear! I'm sure they'll laugh about it in many years to come! Glad they're OK with the sparkley new insides

Funnily enough this reminds me of an April Fool's joke we played on a boss many moons ago.

One of our secretaries (back in the days when we still had them) decided to descale all the kettles in the office. It just so happened that it was April Fool's Day the next day and a cunning plan was hatched!

The first of the month was always one of our busiest days, so one by one we all phoned in and said we were very sick and we thought it must be the effects of the descaling solution. We were actually down the road in the local McDonalds having breakfast!

All the other departments in the building were in on the joke, so everyone refused requests to help out in the stricken department saying they were far too busy!

By the time we had finished our breakfast and turned up at the office, our boss had well and truly thrown all his toys out of the pram!

Why didn't they do something as simple as placing the packet on top of the kettle, or putting the plug in a drawer ?

I've seen this on an Urban Myth website - quite a good one but not to be taken seriously.

If you want another cautionary tale - For those with Landrover Freelanders.

On the fuel filler caps of diesel engined models they've been attaching "Unleaded Fuel Only" notices. I wonder who'll pay for the damage ?

Yuk :D

Deb your poor boss ;) Now when shall I play that trick ;)

Er ...... actually the honest truth is that this this actually happened. It is no myth nor was it an April Fools Day prank - as I said, it was someone we know well who told us about this very shamefaced.
