As a self-admitted WDW Geek,I had always wanted to see the Frontierland Hoedown, but had never seemed to find the time during my trips.

This trip,I determined to see it and went by City Hall and obtained the time for the show.

I was standing outside a store in Frontierland wailting for it to start when I noticed a CM standing nearby.

I asked the CM if the show was about to start and they said "What show?".I then expalined the show and its history and the CM said,to their knowledge, nothing like that happens in Frontierland, but that they were always working in their store and didn't really know for sure.

About that time ,I spotted the Country Bears coming onto the walkway and excitedly told the CM that the show WAS going to happen and that she could now watch the show and would know about it the next time a Guest asked about it.

The CM excitedly agreed and walked away.

The show soon started and the CM who knew NOTHING about the Hoedown was actually one of the "Hoedown Dancers"!:)

It was really funny and one of many great memories from my trip.:)

If a guest believed this "trick" and started to walk away, thinking there was no show, I hope that CM would speak up and let the guest know there really was a show rather than let them miss out.

I think it's taking a bit of a risk. A guest could say, "oh well, we will wait just in case" maybe even standing somewhere farther away and then later think it over and leave and the CM wouldn't know what they had done. Unless that CM stayed there with them right up until it started.

That is a funny story!

To the PP who was concerned, I am sure that the CM wouldn't have let it go so far as letting the OP walk away assuming there was not a show. The OP clearly knew there was show, asking if it was about to start. If it had gotten down to it, I am sure that the CM would have said that they were just pulling the OP's leg.

:hippie:funny~

I wished u knew her name. She needs to be reported. Just plain mean.

I'm not reading it as mean -- just a CM having fun with a guest, who wasn't offended or angered by the encounter.

That's the problem with humor; it's so subjective. What's funny to one person seems mean to another.

Bottom line, if we aren't in the situation, it's hard for us to judge one way or the other. I can see how someone might see it as mean (much as an older sibling teases a younger one) but I think the measure of an experience is how it is perceived by the participants in the encounter.

In this case, it looks like OP thought it was funny.

I'm glad the OP thought it was funny. I think I would have been hurt to be misled like that. There used to be a website where CM's made fun of guests called Stupid Guest Tricks. They would post about some of the dumb questions they would get, and some of it was mean spirited. :guilty:

Ridiculous!

What website?

To my knowledge, nothing like that happens on the web, but I am always working on this site and don't really know for sure.

I know of a website where (sometimes) Stupid Guests often make mean spirited comments about CMs and even other Stupid Guests.

More likely she just knew who would appreciate that sort of humor and got it right when it came to the OP. The only time I've seen a CM get it "wrong" was with a super-obnoxious guest . . . who just happened to be standing among a group of guests who definitely did appreciate the humor (which predictably sailed over the obnoxious person's head.)
