A car just rolled into my house!

We were in the family room watching a movie when we heard this tremendous BOOM! that shook the house. My first thought was a sonic boom. For just an instant, we just sat there. Then my husband, Joe, jumped up and ran for the hallway. There is tile flooring there and he fell. My daughter, Carol, jumped up. She had been at the kitchen table doing homework. My son, James, jumped and ran over near my daughter. I jumped up (well, we all did at some point) and ran to look down the hall for smoke or flames.

As Joe got up and headed down the hall, Carol jumped up on her chair and began to scream. James began screaming too but in a much deeper voice. I asked him why he was screaming and headed out the front door. My second thought was an explosion at another home of some kind or something fell from the sky.

Outside looking for unnatural light I saw my neighbor in his garage. I yelled over "Did you hear that?" and he answered "Yes, it was me!". Puzzled I walked over and he showed me where his car had rolled out of his garage, down his driveway and into our house.

Fortunately his car didn't make it all the way through. We won't be able to really tell how much damage is done until tomorrow but there is a definate dent in the side of James' bedroom wall.

What an adreneline rush!

As a side note, our neighbor had just gotten home from picking his son up from driver's ed. His son said "Well, I learned something else tonight besides not to drink and drive. It is important to put your car in park."

Goodness, Kirby, thank God you guys are all okay. What a shock!!!!!! Hope the damage in minimal, but so happy nobody was injured.

:earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:
Wow!! Aren't you glad James wasn't in his bedroom? What a scary event!!:(

I hope the damages aren't too bad!

(P. S. - did James go for his Eagle Scout Board of Review yet??)

Oh my! I'm so glad you are all okay. Hopefully it won't be to bad in the morning.

I'm glad everyone is safe and sound, but that comment made me giggle.

That is scary! Glad everyone is okay!

What a blessing that no one was hurt! I have to agree it is always good to put the car in "park". I pray the damage isn't too extensive.

Oh, my gosh! I'm glad everyone is okay. I remember when I was in high school, someone who lived on a busy road had a car literally go through the wall into their living room! What a shock!

Me too :)

That is a son that will have something he can tease his father about for a long time...

What a shock that must have been... I can't even imagine!

That had to be scary! Glad no on ewas hurt.

Wow! I can't imagine how scary that must have been. Thank God everyone is alright.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_15_3.gif' border=0></a>

Oh wow, that is so very scary!!! I am just glad no one was hurt!!!

Thanks everyone! It did take a while for us to settle down. When we all saw what had happened, Joe and I just laughed and laughed. Our neighbors probably thought we were nuts or something. Tina (her husband is the one responsible) told me that she was glad I was laughing and not yelling. I told her that getting mad would serve no purpose. I guess they can be glad that we aren't the getting mad easily type.

Anyway, they are good for it. Joe is a plumbing contractor and has lots of construction contacts. He and Mike, the neighbor, have already cut a deal.

I haven't actually gone out to look this morning but looked from the street when I took the kids to school. It's not really noticable if you don't know what you are looking for. Even inside its not apparent something is wrong until you look down towards the floor. Then you can see that the wall is pushed in and the carpet is buckled.

I'm just glad no one was hurt. If Mike drove a larger car or if it had had 10 more feet to pick up speed, we would have had a car in our house.

Pam, James is working on his last three badges (still  ). But he will have them done before his next Court of Honor. We hope to have his ceremony this summer.

Yeow! Hope you don't have too much structural damage!

Close call!!

A couple weeks ago here in Orlando a drunk guy in a pickup truck (he had a naked lady in there with him) drove through the front of a family home.....all the way THROUGH the house...out the back of the house and into the pool!! The house was completely destroyed!! Noone inside the house was hurt. They were in the den and the truck went through starting in the dining room.

Only injuries were to the drunk guy and the naked lady.

So don't drink and drive( with a naked lady) ever.
