Hi! My kids have never been to WDW and I haven't been for almost 30 years! Anyways, my 3-year-old DS is totally obsessed with the movie 'A Bug's Life'. He watches it every single day. I was wondering if any characters from this movie could be found anywhere. A parade? A certain park? I tried seraching around, but haven't found much info. I have heard that It's Tough To Be A Bug can be kind of scary for kids. Like I said, this is our first trip so I am looking to you veterans to help me out a bit! :thumbsup2 THANKS!!! :goodvibes

I saw Flik near the entrance of Animal Kingdom in the morning if that is any help. He was there with Timon.

Yes, the 3D ITTBAB show can be VERY SCARY for little kids.
I suggest that an adult goes into the show to see it alone first, then determine whether your child would be OK seeing it.

Thanks so much for the speedy responses! How exciting! I hope we see them! He goes on and on and on about Princess Atta. :lovestruc I think he will be over the moon if he could see her in person!

Thanks for the advice on It's Tough To Be a Bug. I think either my DH or I will view it first, or just skip it all together. My younger two are pretty sensitive and we don't want to freak them out on vacation! ;)

I believe that Flick and Princess Atta are also featured on one of the floats in the afternoon parade at Hollywood studios.

in '07 I had to carry out my then 6 year old screaming about 1/2 way thru TTBB.

last year my then 8 year old clung on to my leg while sitting on the ground about 1/2 way thru TTBB.

It is definitely intense. If your child has any type of imagination - be warned.

Other than that it is a great show - and I'm surprised it isn't discussed more.

I always hear screaming , crying kids in that attraction-very intense.
But fun for older kids and adults:3dglasses

Seems to me that if the kid LOVES the movie, they'd be ok with the attraction. The attraction is really well done and entertaining.:earsboy:

I'll confess to being (a) an adult and (b) scared of ITTBAB. The "4D" effects are what get ya. I second the recommendation for an adult to go it alone first. If that doesn't work out and you all try it together, at least put your kids on your laps . . . that will alleviate a couple of the effects. I just can't do that show . . . :scared1:

The Bugs Life characters are part of the HS parade, Block Party Bash. It is everyday at 3:00. It is my favorite parade in WDW. The parade stops for dancing and acrobatics. You should ask a CM if they know where Bugs Life will be when the parade stops. We were by Toy Story last time and I have some great pictures of my kids dancing with Woody.

If your kids like the movie, they might like the show. When we went in 2007, we sat the kids on our laps (3 & 5 yrs old at the time) and they both LOVED the show, but they'd seen the movie over and over at home, so that helped.

Still, you know your kids best! No use in ruining the whole day for them!

You should ask a CM if they know where Bugs Life will be when the parade stops.

Here is a map with the approximate locations of the "parade stops" for Block Party Bash.

The parade makes two stops in order for special "shows" to take place along the route.

If you stand at any of these numbered areas, you will see the "shows" mentioned on the list.

It's really hard to know about It's Tough to Be A Bug. We took our older boys along with our youngest (then 2 years old) last time, and our then-2-year-old loved it - he loved seeing Flik on the top of the screen, and the effects did not bother him at all. Now, that could entirely change this year because he may be more aware of the effects and less distracted by Flik. So it's always a tough call.

Block Party Bash is great! We are not parade fans generally, but our kids love this one!

:worship: Thank you all SO much for taking the time to post such helpful information! I am fairly new to the DISBoards and not sure how I could plan this trip if I hadn't stumbled across this site!

We will DEFINITELY have to check out the Block Party parade at HS after hearing all your input. I think it will appeal to my whole family! My youngest little guy can see the Bug's Life characters and my oldest can see Woody! Even though he is 15 now, he still has a soft spot in his heart for Buzz and Woody. Toy Story was the movie he was totally obsessed with when he was 3-years-old, so he can relate to his little brother's Flick and Princess Atta obsession! :)

You might also be interested in the Buzz and Woody meet/greet - they have their own greeting spot on Pixar Place, right across from Toy Story Mania. Our oldest was like yours - an early Toy Story fan - and he still likes to stop by there (for his little brother, of course!)

i dont think that will happen at all,its funny and very very tame.If your kid loves the movie he will love it.

I am an "older kid" and unfortunately, the last time I went on ITTBAB, which was 2 years ago when I was 16, I found myself screaming when the fake spiders descended from the ceiling. I remember the words I screamed and felt water building up in my eyes as a I screamed "mommy".

Awesome! That's great to know. Adding that to the list of must-do's! :thumbsup2
