A Bug's Life?

Right across from Baby Care in AK is a little area where you can usually meet Flick and sometimes Princess Atta.

We also saw Flik in AK. My youngest at the time (4) just sat on our laps during ITTBAB. He did just fine with it. Again, they had also seen the movie many times before our trip. Have a great time!

ITTBAB made my "tough" 4yr. old ds sit in my lap and bury his face! He still remembers those spiders coming down over his head. I think that's what got him!

I wish you all could've seen his little face when I told him that we might see his beloved Princess Atta :lovestruc and Flick when we go on the airplane to "Mickey's House". It lit right up and I think he even blushed a little. ;)

Okay...fake spiders coming down from the ceiling?? I think that might freak ME out more than my children!

A LOT of things "come out at you" (physically and as 3D effects) in ITTBAB.

It is also very LOUD in sections of the show.

Hopper (the villain) is a HUGE in-room Animatronic who towers over the audience (at least on stage-left.)

The theater audience is quickly bathed in dense white "bug spray" (high-pressure cold "steam.")

It is not a cute little kids show.

That said, I really enjoy this show. (But, I'm not a little kid.)

I've seen a number being escorted out and many who were still there cried through the show. It is not your fun show for young ones. Under 5, I wouldn't do it with them.:surfweb:

Thanks for the heads-up, Robo and Trekker93. :goodvibes After hearing everyone's different opinions I am pretty certain we won't go see it. My teenage son would probably get a kick out of it, but his main priority is enjoying the bigger rides with my DH. My mother and I will be taking the younger two around to some of the shows, etc., and I am pretty sure my mother (or my 10yo DD) wants NOTHING to do with a show full of bugs and spiders!

I am very grateful for this site to get other's opinions so I can have an idea of what we might be getting ourselves into! I think ITTBAB can wait until the next trip when the little guy is older and decides he might want to check it out.

My dd13 is terrified of bugs, so she is also terrified of ITTBAB so much that she refuses to watch it.

Just a heads up, outside of Block Party Bash, Atta is very rare to meet for a meet and greet (photograph and signature). But, during BPB there is a section where they'll pull some kids into the streets. If you position yourself in the right spot, then you can get a cute picture of him dancing with Atta.

Awesome! Good to know! :goodvibes

You can watch ITTBAB on youtube to get an idea of it. Of course you won't get the 3-d effects etc, but at least you can kind of gauge whether your DS would like it or be scared. MY DD (turned 4 this week) is pretty fearless, but she has always been a little edgy about Hopper for some reason. I didn't plan to take her. On our December 2009 trip, she begged to see ITTBAB even though I told her it was scary. She gave me the "I'm not scared of anything!". She sat through the whole show, holding on to us in parts, but after it said "I didn't like that so much. I don't want to see it again!".

Hi! My kids have never been to WDW and I haven't been for almost 30 years! Anyways, my 3-year-old DS is totally obsessed with the movie 'A Bug's Life'. He watches it every single day. I was wondering if any characters from this movie could be found anywhere. A parade? A certain park? I tried seraching around, but haven't found much info. I have heard that It's Tough To Be A Bug can be kind of scary for kids. Like I said, this is our first trip so I am looking to you veterans to help me out a bit! :thumbsup2 THANKS!!! :goodvibes
We always see Flik at AK. As far as the ITTBAB 3-D show, it just depends on your kid. Our kids have been watching it since they were about 2 years old and none of them ever freaked out or were extremely scared. It's definitely a "do-not-miss" attracation for us.
