Hi.

As you can see, I have been on the DIS for quite some time, but have not been all that "vocal." Through these years, I have found the members here to be a sort of a second family--for information, support, and advice.

This past Saturday, I reached a milestone in my life--I graduated law school. However, in some ways, I still feel like I failed. Since my DS was born over 5 years ago, I have vowed to lose weight and become healthy. Up until now, I have always had some event or point by which I would strive to lose some amount of weight. It never happened. This most recent "point" was when I began work. Unfortunately for my aspirations, yet fortunately for our economic situation, this most recent point came too soon. I will begin working part-time while studying for the Bar this coming Monday.

I need your support. I did not want to begin my career looking this way (as superficial as that may sound). If I want to change that, I will have a difficult summer ahead. Ideally this summer, while I study for the bar and work, I would like to lose 40 or 50 pounds (that would be my goal). Yet realistically, I want to begin to lose weight, as slowly as that may be, and develop better habits. I need support, and I believe I will find it here.

Sincerely yours,

Stacie

Oh, Stacie...

You accomplished something not many of us, especially ME, could do and you want support HERE???

You are my HERO!

Congratulations on your graduation and I know you'll ace the bar.

You've done half of what it takes to succeed here, you confessed and asked for help. Believe me, it's here.

There are people here who have been where you, or are where you are now. Either way, we can all relate and be the shoulder you so need right now.

In the meantime...

You're among friends!! :wave2:

Hi Stacie :wave2:

First of all, congratulations on your graduation. That's awesome!

Even though I've only been on the WISH boards for a few days, I can already attest to the great support everyone gives each other here. As a chronic (make that *former* chronic!) "I will lose (x pounds) by (x date)" kind of person, I know where you're coming from. I'm sure we can all help each other to reach our goals.

Welcome! :)

Hi Stacie. Welcome !!! :wave2: Congrats on your amazing accomplishments. You will find lots of support here. Given the fact that you already have a very busy, stressful summer ahead of yourself, don't put yourself into an "overload mode" by trying to do too much, too fast, with too many expectations. To get started, I recommend doing the following 3 things:

1) start journalling everything you eat -- good or bad, if you bite it, write it :teeth:

2) drink lots of water (take your weight, divide by 2, and that's how many ounces of water you should be consuming daily)

3) get some form of exercise at least 4 days/week -- even if it's just going for a 30 minute stroll around the neighbourhood

And since I've been not doing all of the above for the past while, which is why I haven't lost any more weight, I'm re-reading what I just posted to you, and I'm writing down what I had for breakfast. Maybe your new start here is just what I needed today to start again. Thanks for doing this for me!

Hi Stacie and welcome to WISH! This is a great place to be. You will find loads of encouragement, support, and inspiration from some very friendly WISHers. If you keep to a plan, drink your water, and exercise, the weight will come off. Some weeks you will lose more than others, but it will come off.

Congratulations on graduating from law school, and good luck in your career.

Welcome to WISH Stacie! I just joined up a few days ago so I'm just starting my good habits again too.

Congrats on graduating law school! My son,17, is a junior and is interested in pursuing law as a career. We're starting to look at colleges now to narrow down a list. Any suggestions?

Again, welcome. With the support of this board, hopefully we'll both be a couple of losers by the end of the summer!;)

Welcome to wish and I know you will get the support you are looking for here!! Congratulations on all you have achieved so far!!

Congratulations on graduating from law school!! You have so much to be proud of! Don't let the extra lbs take away from that!

As others have mentioned, try to get more excercise, and eat sensibly. Just cutting out junk food can help alot. It helped me alot to cut out white bread, pasta, and potatoes, and sweets.
My husband is loosing just by cutting out pizza and fried food, and exercising.

Stick around here for inspiration.

Congratulations again, enjoy your summer!
