I recently booked a trip from Dec 1- Dec 6 2009. We will be staying at our home resort (SSR) in a two bedroom. The point total is 189 points. We had to borrow 21 points from 2010 to make it happen. If I wanted to change resorts to the AKV at the seven month mark, it would be 152 points if we stayed in the "value" section of the resort. Would my borrowed 2010 points be restored to 2009, or would I lose them? I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

Once borrowed those points stayed borrowed.

So the 2010 points would remain in your 2009 Use Year.

But you can bank 21 points of current Use Year points allotment into your upcoming Use Year if those points are still "bankable" ( ie you are not beyond the banking deadline for the current Use Year's allotment of points - i don't know what your Use Year month is so I can't say for sure if when you change your reservation on May 1 2009 whether you are beyond the banking deadline ).

If you can still bank the current UY points when you make the reservation switch just be sure to be very clear with MS about what you want to happen : utilizing the borrowed points for the reservation at AKV and that you want 21 pts banked.

:)

Once borrowed, points can never be put back. But you can do something almost as good.

You cancel your SSR reservation and now have 168 2009 points and 21 borrowed 2010 points. When you make the AKV reservation, make sure the CM uses the 21 borrowed points first, then 131 2009 points. The left over 37 points are 2009 points and can be banked into 2010 if you won't use them during your 2009 use-year.

Note that I'd be surprised if AKV value rooms are left for early December, so the question is probably moot. But you could always get lucky!
