Hi Everyone,

I am planning a trip next year...June 26-July 1. My partner and I are taking our 4 nieces who will all be graduating from High School to WDW for their graduation gift. We will need a 2 BR unit. We own at SSR.

Now, that being said, I would LOVE to stay at AKL. Some questions....

What are my chances of getting a standard view at AKL for that time?

Should I book SSR at the 11 month window and then hope for a standard at AKL and switch the reservation, or should I just wait until the 7 month window at AKL opens?

If I do decide to book SSR when I can, will I need enough points to cover both reservations, or can the SSR one be canceled and those points be used for the new AKL reservation?

Generally I don't care where I stay and I am perfectly happy with SSR. I would like to give the girls AKL as something a little more special.

What are your thoughts?

What are my chances of getting a standard view at AKL for that time? You might have a good chance of getting that reservation. I sure wouldn't hurt to try. I think the resorts really get busy starting with July 1st for the fourth of July.

Should I book SSR at the 11 month window and then hope for a standard at AKL and switch the reservation, or should I just wait until the 7 month window at AKL opens? I would just to ensure you definitely have a reservation somewhere.

If I do decide to book SSR when I can, will I need enough points to cover both reservations, or can the SSR one be canceled and those points be used for the new AKL reservation? The SSR reservation will be cancelled to book the AKV reservation.

Generally I don't care where I stay and I am perfectly happy with SSR. I would like to give the girls AKL as something a little more special.

I think that's a great idea. And if you get the Standard view at AKV, I would request a Savanna view which you may or may not get. That would be bonus if one of those rooms come through. If you don't get a savanna view the other views are of the pool or parking lot.

Good luck on the reservation and have a great time. I think that the extra bathroom in the Kidani Standard view room will really be great for the girls and in the end help you because maybe they'll get ready faster. I would definitely try for one of those rooms.

clarification:

the standard views at jambo house are pool view and at kidani are either pool view or parking lot. no standard view rooms have savanna views.

some of the value rooms have savanna views, but the rooms are smaller.

Thanks everyone,

While the savannah view is great, I know there is animal viewing throughout the resort. What I am after here is the wonderful theming that AKL has. I would be perfectly happy with a pool view.

Your nieces will love the AKL Villas. Like you said, the feel of the resort is special. What a great present!

I don't know who is more excited about this trip, me or them. Two graduate in 2011 and the other two in 2012. They are all pretty close and opted to take their trips together as they knew they would have more fun. The older sister of one of the girls and the cousin of the others is now feeling somewhat cheated. When I took her for her trip she brought along one friend. She is jealous that next year's crop gets to go as a big group.

Now, she is graduating from college next year. I told her she is more than welcome to come along, but she pays her own way. Aunt Linda does a HS graduation trip only! ( The money only goes so far and there are 6 more of the kids to follow in upcoming years. )

At any rate, it is SO much fun being an Aunt and planning these trips.
