In our trip was my wife, my two girls, ages 6 and 9, and myself. We flew Transmeridian from Syracuse to Sanford with a great non stop flight. When we arrived the driver for the Limo I rented for the ride to the RPR from Happy Limo was waiting with a sign with our name by the luggage. We went outside and the girls started walking right by the white limo, never imagining it was for us. Their eyes lit up and when they got in Shrek was in the dvd player and they drank cold Pepsi and water from wine glasses in the limo. They kept saying that they were princesses. Best money I ever spent.
We arrived at the RPR and our room was ready at checkin, around 11:00am. It was room 1450 in tower one with two queen beds and a view of the Hulk and Dr. Doom. We got organized and set out to have lunch. We decided to try the kithen at the HRH as we had a certificate for it. I wanted to try this first as the certificate expired prior to our trip but Amanda Molly from Clearchannel where we bought them sent us a letter extending the date to 08/31, as when we bought them there were no expiration dates listed on the website. Prior to ordering I ask them if there would be a problem and after about 15 minutes was told they would not accept it, as Clearchannel had no authority to extend it. Not happy but not letting it get me down, we left and went to the Nascar cafe where we also had cerificates for. I did not mention that the Kitchen had not accepted it but after about 5 minutes the lady came back and stated the same as the Kitchen. Having wasted time, we went into IOA and ate lunch at the Circus Mcgurkis (sp?). The girls had pizza and we had chicken and we went and started the rides.
We all loved the Cat in the Hat and One fish two fish and the girls thought the Carousuessal was cool. Throughout the trip in Suess landing they saw the grinch, cat in the hat, sam I am, things one and two, and a real person dressed as a ringmaster who's name I can't recall. We must have ridden the Cat in the Hat 8 times over the course of our stay. We then went to the Lost Continent and my oldest daughter and I did DD, ice and she loved it. We also did the Unicorn for my younger and she loved it as well We then made the mistake of doing Poseidens Fury. The loud thunder and lightning with the darkness scared both my kids badly, especially the youngest who's normally the bravest. Since all the severe weather reports and with a few tornado watches where we live this summer, the kids were very frightnened of the thunder and lightning. We missed the Sinbad show that my youngest wanted to watch and never did catch it as the timing was always off. We then headed over to Jurassic Park.
My oldest daughter loved the Jurassic Park River adventure, but my youngest, who loves the Dinosaur ride at Disney which in my opinion is darker and scarier, didn't like the T-rex at the end and wouldn't go on again. My oldest and I rode it twice more on the trip as we loved it. I noticed that certain things did not work on the ride and I wonder if it was due to the storm. The doors stayed open when you enter the dinosaur part and the voice that used to say you got knocked off course did not work. Also, the box as you start the accent into the building did not move as it used to. Just curious. The line for the Pteranodon Flyers was always long and we never did them. The discovery center was okay, but none of us were that interested in it. We made our way over to Toon Lagoon and did Dudley Doright and Popeye. The kids loved these rides and we did them several times throughout the trip. Some times we would barely get wet and other times soaked. FOTL was great as, with the heat, the lines were long but we never waited over 10 minutes for anything. We made our way over to Marvel Super Hero Island and we all loved Spiderman. We did this probably 8-10 times on the trip. My youngest loved the Storm Force Accelatron, and my oldest loved the Hulk. In my opinion, the Hulk seemed much much bumpier than previous, and we sat in the middle, not the back where it would be expected. Between Toon Lagoon and Marvel Island the kids saw Spiderman, Cyclops, Captain America, Storm, Rogue, Wolverine, Popeye and Olive Oil, Bullwinkle, Woody Woodpecker, and Bluto.
The first night we ate at the Pastamore, who we also had a certificate for with a letter attached. A younger manager accepted the certificate and stated his bosses would get a kick out of the letter. I had chicken parm, the kids had chicken tenders, and my wife had five-cheese ravioli. The service was great and food was great too. The kids loved it and we will definately eat there again when we go back.
Tomorrow, Universal.
