The TCD gang made an unplanned and unannounced visit to the Fort on Saturday evening, December 11, 2010.

We were only there to eat, on our way to the MK, but I thought I would share a bit of the holiday cheer we witnessed.

First, we were treated to an unofficial golf cart parade, which is captured by one of the TCD DD's on these two very poor quality videos. The good news is that they are short. The videos are a bit shaky, but you can see some of the decorated carts pretty well. Also, listen for some interesting dialog, such as when a young boy wishes us “Merry Butt-mas.” And some mean FSU fans shouting 31-7 as they drive by (my DD even caught TCD threatening to murder the FSU fans--true Christmas spirit!):

Click on these images to play the videos . . .

Here are a few photos of the decorated carts:

The parade came right by Trail’s End as we enjoyed our meal on the porch:

Exactly two weeks to go before Christmas, and the Fort is really looking good. All of the loops had great decorations!

We hoped to get to finally see the famous Dave’s castle, but it was dark. I understand Dave’s wife is in the hospital. So prayers and pixie dust to Dave and his family. One of these days, I will get to see that castle in person!

That's all I have.

It was just a quick visit.

But, I thought I would share just a bit of holiday cheer!

Fantastic - thanks TCD!! :santa:

Sending prayers from NH too.

Wowm that was awesome, those golf carts get better decorated every year!
Thanks for sharing!

The golf cart parade kept going through the loops until around 9:30pm. Every time they'd come thru the 800 loop (where I was) I'd give them a blast on the air horn!! They loved it!

The golf cart parade was very neat to watch but why do they have to keep blowing their horns. There were alot of nice looking carts that some people spent alot of time decorating. It really got annoying hearing the constant blowing of horns though. Why????? When you've got 20 or 30 carts in a line, that's alot of noise.

As long as I was at the Fort, they could blow those horns all they want! I'll trade places with you in an instant if those horns are too loud (LOL)! Wish were were there.:santa: Thanks TCD for the pics!:thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing - that looks like so much fun. We leave for the Fort in 5 days and I can't wait!!!!!

Loved the parade as well. Lucky for my husband and I we got to see it when out looping. They never came by the 1600 loop though. Our dd was in the MH not feeling well and I told her to keep an ear out for them. We got back about 9 pm and they never showed.

Saturday night we too enjoyed dinner on the Trail's End Porch. We shared a the Fried Chicken dinner with another couple we were camping with. That was about 7:00 or so. Then we spent the evening at WL sipping on hot chocolate.

Too funny!

I just missed you.

I think it was just after 7:30 when we claimed our table on the porch.

I know that we were still there at 8, because I was peeking in the Crockett's Tavern window to see the Heisman trophy show.

We took off shortly after that.

It would have been a great surprise to run into you!

Did you travel to WL by boat?

We headed to the Contemporary, and the boats were messed up for some reason. Between 8:30 and 9:00, the lines for both boats extended all the way down the dock to the marina building. The worst I have ever seen, and I am including Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve nights in that statement.

We did take the boat. We walked up as a boat had just filled up. We only waited 10 minutes or so and had no problems. We were in WL until 10:30 or so. We waited 15 or 20 minutes for a boat back.

Only thing I can think of that might have caused the backup was that MK was open until 1:00 and maybe the water parade was making it's circuit about the time you were waiting? There was a lot of folks at the Settlement that night too. Maybe they all decided to leave when you did.:)

Well, we must have just hit the dock at the wrong time. We are always careful to avoid the dock at the time the HDDR lets out. Maybe the crowd was from the Backyard BBQ? But there was also some kind of problem with the resort boats. While we waited at the dock, two boats arrived and loaded, and left. They each went in a different direction. The one heading to WL and then the Contemporary left first, and should have been back to the Fort first, but that boat never came back. The next boat that came went the opposite direction, to the Contemporary, and then WL. That boat and driver also didn't come back. Instead, a third boat, with a different driver came from the direction of WL, and went to the Contemporary first. We made it to the Contemporary before 9, which is a good thing, because I know that Pirate Cruise nonsense begins at 9 and messed things up for a while.

No biggie.

Like I said, it apparently was just bad timing on our part.

It sounds like the back log was gone quickly.
