A bit confused...

I thought I knew all there was to know about codes, but maybe not?

Booked a 3 night trip for my husband & I for November this AM. I haven't gotten a pin (YET...but I will...mark my word! LOL) and there isn't a general discount out yet, so I thought I would just book with a AAA 15%...better than nothing, right?

So, I knew that was a room discount, but when I wanted tickets and the DDP as well, she said that the package saved more (35%) than the AAA room-only discount?

So I didn't think a "package" was considered a discount. I thought if you have a room discount, you get only the discount on the room but then can add your tickets and DDP or whatever. Am I wrong on this?

It's not a biggie, I know I'll end up with some sort of discount, even if I have to upgrade to AP's for an AP discount (going next Feb too) but it didn't seem right to me, so I thought I would ask...

They advertise the dining plan as a savings of 35%, you save that much by purchasing the dining plan instead of paying out of pocket. If you want to use the AAA discount on the room portion of your package you have to book through AAA. Booking direct through disney they can book a room only AAA discount but not as a package.

You are correct that a discount is on the room portion only, even if you book it as a package. As the pp said, Disney advertises the DDP as a savings because that is what they see as the savings by purchasing the DDP instead of paying OOP for your meals, but you are not getting 35% off the dining plan and/or tickets.
