As most of you know I took a nasty fall three weeks ago when my toe clips tried to kill me. ER folks were sure hip was broken but thankfully turned out to be bruised, damaged muscles and bit of bone bruising. Was off work for over a week and even then when I asked my doc for a release back to work she wasnt sure it was a good idea.
I was sure I was ready and all of you are a huge part of why.
After seeing the WISH shirts and WISH spirit at the AK 5K this year came home, looked you up and got involved. Ive received tips, help, encouragement and motivation. Ive made new friends and got the opportunity to meet some of you at the Minnie. I had the confidence that I could do the Minnie both the 5K and 15K because I had worked for it and my new friends would be there to help me if needed.
Thanks to Dave (Panda) for starting the Core thread and coach AmyBeth for posting so much info and help, Ive been doing my core work regularly and correctly.
Ive been walking and biking and that made me stronger. Yoga and pilates making my center stronger. For these reasons I believe Ive been able to heal faster and that even when the pain was at its worse it was not as bad as it wouldve been had I still been on that couch.
For that and everything else you do, Thank You WISH Team!
I look forward to many more events both with you and representing who we are at other events. I also hope I can help others whether starting out new or experienced folks needing .well, anything I can help with.
