While on our trip in July, DS lost a beloved hat. I thought it gone for good. But...

Guess what came in the mail yesterday!

Just goes to show that if you lose something you should fill out those little cards that have your name, address and the item. They really do go through the stuff they find and match it up with the little cards, because I hadn't been keeping up with calling about the hat.

DS was beyond pleased. Good job, Disney!

That's great news!

We too got lucky last year. I had purchased a Disney Christmas sweatshirt in Dec 2002 on Main Street for my grandson. We brought it on our trip in Dec 2003. While at MK, he got warm, took it off, I tied the arms around the rented stroller, but it must have fallen off when we we in First Aid. I felt bad since it was a souvenir from 2002 and how often can you wear those Christmas shirts! ;) We went to Lost and Found, described the sweatshirt, and were so happy and thankful to see it was there. :)

We have had 2 experiences with L&F, 1 good, 1 bad. We also had 2 good experience with SeaWorld L&F

I’ll start with the bad. My DD wanted to sit on the end of the row for the tram in TTC. Against my better judgment I let her. Of course as soon as the tram is about to leave she drops a shoe. I tried to get the CM’s attention in the back but he didn’t see me. This was the last stop before returning to TTC so we had to ride all the way there. Once we got off we told the CM in back what happened and he radioed the security folks who drove back to look for it. We waited about ½ hour for them to return but they never did. We asked in the gift shop at TTC if they sold shoes, they didn’t but you could get some on Main Street. We bought her some new shoes there so she could enjoy the day. We checked back several times at L&F with no luck on the other shoe. I probably should have jumped off the tram before he started but I didn’t want to get reprimanded for not following the rules.

The 2nd experience was much better. The same DD, who has type I diabetes, lost her Blood Glucose Monitor. Actually it fell out of the backpack we were carrying so this time it wasn’t her all her fault. We knew it probably happened on POTC, SpaceMtn or HM. We had just gotten off POTC and were about to eat at Peco’s Bill when we realized it was missing. I walked over and asked the CM at the line and he knew immediately what I was looking for and ran off to get it for me. That was a really good thing since I forgot to pack the spare BG monitor this trip and we didn’t know what we were going to do.

Also, one time at SeaWorld my other DD left a disposable camera at the Dolphin show. She had gotten the camera as a gift from SeaWorld when she was in the Dolphin show earlier that same week. We didn’t realize that it was gone until we got home. I sent them an email and about a week later the camera came to us in the mail.

I think it is amazing that the parks can track down the owners for any of the lost items.

For us, Lost & Found has done an amazing job. On a trip several years ago I lost a favourite hat and realized it a few days later. DH and I agreed that we had last seen it at dinner at Cinderella's Castle so we went to the Lost and Found. They asked which day, which park, and what type of item. Would you believe they showed us 3 giant clear garbage bags - all hats, all lost at MK and all on the same day. The volume was staggering! Sure enough, mine was among them.

On our last trip DH lost a battery for one of the cameras in Epcot (actually I think I might have done that for him). I was all for forgetting about it and buying another one (how expensive can these things be, anyway?) until DH explained that it had been pretty expensive (about 10 times more than I had thought was remotely possible). Again, there it was, waiting at L & F.

I'm glad to hear your DS got his hat back, Babybunrab!

During the last 10 mins. of E-Night, on 7/19, I lost my cell phone on either BLSRS or Space Mtn. We rode BLSRS and headed straight for SM. It wasn't til after I got off of SM that I realized it was missing. We asked at both SM & BLSRS if anyone had turned it in. No such luck. They told us to stick around for an hour to see if it was taken to City Hall. We did and no luck. DH thought, for sure, it was laying in pieces on the floor at SM. Well, City Hall told us to check L&F in the morning. We called the phone and got the message, so we knew the phone was in one piece. Last time I put the cell phone in my pocket on a ride!

The next morning, we headed up to L&F and the nice gentleman took all the information. I felt like an idiot, but he said it happens all the time. Sure enough, there was the cell phone. I looked at it and wished it could talk ... to tell me where it had been and the journey it had throughout the night. It never dawned on me to ask the man where it was found. Maybe he wouldn't have known anyway?!

Later that day, I didn't feel like an idiot anymore b/c a young girl at R&RC was asking a CM if anyone found her cell phone which she lost on that ride.

Note to all -- keep your cell phone in a safe place!

These wonderful people go to amazing lengths to find your missing item and return it a.s.a.p.

My son had a fanny pack with a Kodak One Time Use Camera in it. He received a 'real' Advantix on his 10th Birthday at the end of the year but our trip was scheduled in the Summer and I didn't want him to feel left out so I purchased several these One Time Use Cameras for our trip.

We were in AK and he used the washroom, removing his fanny pack and placing it on the hook on the washroom door. It wasn't until an hour later he realized it was gone. We checked with Lost & Found at AK when we left for the day and it had not shown up. The CM gave me a Sticker which contained the Central Lost and Found phone number. We left AK and drove over to St. Pete's Beach to continue our vacation. Three days later I called, described the bag and the camera. She came back on the phone and said she was holding it in her hand. I explained that we were on the coast and would not be heading back to Orlando. The CM was extremely pleasant and took my mailing address and phone number.

Three weeks later we received the fanny pack and camera in the mail. I was truly grateful as we soon discovered, after developing the film, the camera had contained the most beautiful pictures of my two sons. Each had taken the others picture on the beach at sunset while my husband and I gathered shells. These pictures I will always treasure and would have lost if not for WDW Lost and Found.

I lost my sunglasses on SM, and I filled out a card, and the sunglasses beat me back home.

Hooray! I love good L&F stories!

When I was on the College Program, I spent some time working in Lost and Found at MGM. It was definitely an interesting experience. People lost pretty much anything you can think of. I loved being able to help people find their cameras at the end of the night. Those were magical moments for me.

My weirdest L&F story - One day we got a phone call from a CM at Pizza Planet. She had a guest with her that was missing his *upper palate* and wanted to know if it had been turned it. I was so confused. I finally blurted out "You mean teeth?!?!" Good thing this was just on the phone! This guest had, in fact, lost his dentures. Sure enough, they were already wrapped up, logged and sitting in the medical safe. I'm glad we could help him out, because I can't imagine losing something like that while on vacation!

Not the WDW l&f, but we found some dentures once on the MCO monorail, just sitting on one of the benches at the end of the car.
We brought them to the attention of security, and presumably they were retrieved and taken to a lost and found somewhere.

I always wondered why on earth someone would remove dentures in such a place, let alone set them down and forget about them. I could see leaving them behind in a hotel or near a sink in a restroom somewhere, but on the airport monorail?
