I wasn't sure where to post this but I just wanted to tell all of you DISboard members how thankful I am to all of you. I just got back from our trip and all of your tips made for a wonderful experience! 7 of us stayed in 2 rooms at Pop Century. We were on the free regular dining plan. We ate like kings and were never hungry. All together we ate about $2000 worth of food over the 7 days!
Here are a few of the best tips I used:
-Go to MK early on the days of the MVMCP. Crowds were very low from 9-3.
-Get the kids first haircut at the MK. This was just an amazing experience and the girls hair looked beautiful...and only cost $14 each!
-Head back to the hotel to nap after lunch.
-Sample the cokes of the world at Epcot.
-Use the baby swap for big kid rides.
-All the restaurant suggestions were great. The best counter service was Wolfgang Puck Express. The dinners were all outstanding. See where I went below.
Here is an outline of what we did:
Friday 12/11 arrived and headed to MK at 1pm. The crowds were pretty low and we left before the crowds for the MVMCP started to build. Dinner was at Raglan Road. The food was great and I got the bread pudding for dessert. I normally wouldn't get this but it was highly recommended by a DISser, it didn't disappoint. There was also an Irish band playing so the ambience was good.
Saturday 12/12 went to Epcot at 9:30am. The crowds were moderate. 90 minute wait for Soarin but 10 minute wait for Mission Space and 20 minute wait for Test Track. We went to Restaurant Marrakash for dinner. Most in our party are very picky eaters and they all loved the food. I had the beef kabob with humus..yummy.
Sunday 12/13 arrived at Animal Kingdom at 10am. We went over to the kiddie section and spent a couple hours there. It was very hot that day and I didn't drink enough water so by 1pm I felt sick. Went back to the room until dinner. We had dinner at the Captains Grille at the Yaht Club. The resort was beautiful and the food was great. I got the crab legs which were probably the best I ever had.
Monday 12/14 arrived at DHS at 9:30am. Crowds were very low and we didn't wait more than 10 minutes. My daughters LOVE Mickey Mouse Clubhouse so we were excited to see Playhouse Disney. it was a neat show. We had lunch with the Playhouse Disney Characters at Hollywood & Vine. This was so much fun. The food was okay but we were going for the character interaction anyway. For dinner we ate at Pop Century foodcourt. I had the fried chicken which was very good. The ice cream sundaes were so good there.
Tuesday 12/15 arrived at MK at 9am. Went straight to the barber shop for the girls first haircut. We waited about 10 minutes. the experience was excellent. They saved the hair and gave them both a certificate and a set of mouse ears. The did my older daughter's hair princess style and put glitter in it. I am so glad we did this. After that we headed to the rest of the park. Crowds were super low. Almost everything was walk on except for Splash Mountain which had a 15 minute wait. For dinner we went to the Princess dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Everyone loved this including the adults. The evil stepsisters really got into the part and made everyone laugh. The food was really good too.
Wednesday 12/16 arrived at Epcot at 11am. Crowds were super low. Most rides had a 10-20 minute wait including Soarin. For dinner we went to the Luau at the Polynesian. The resort was really neat. We arrived about 30 minutes prior to the show and there was a long wait to get in. I would suggest getting there closer to showtime as the crowd would already be seated and you have preassigned seats anyway. The show was awesome and the food was so good.
Thursday 12/17 arrived at Animal Kingdom at 11am. Crowds were very low. I only planned on spending a day at AK but since the first day here was cut short I wanted to go back to go on the Safari and Rafiki's Planet Watch. The safari only had a 20 minute wait. Rafiki's Planet Watch was a little dissapointing. I thought the girls would enjoy the petting zoo but there were only a few goats there. It was a long hike to get there so I would recommend skipping this if you are pressed for time. Dinner we went to Mickey's BBQ. We arrived about 20 minutes late because I underestimated the time it took to get to Fort Wilderness. You have to take a bus from the parking lot to the Pavillion and we waited about 15 minutes for a bus. All was good though, we sat in the back which is were some DISsers recommended. The food was just okay but the entertainment was good. The kids enjoyed it.
Thanks again everyone! Can't wait until my next trip.
