A BIG Rat , a BIGGER Snake, and the best view ever!

The teen activities were on Tues., Thurs, and Sat. They had flag football, volleyball, campfire with smores! I will look for my list and post it for you. They meet at Eb and Flo's at a specified time and go over to the other side of the road via the underground tunnel as a group.

My boys really enjoyed it!!! The boys said the activities directors were very nice and very involved -joining in with the activites. The male directors were more involved than the female ones or so I was just informed.

My kids spent the majority of the time in the ocean as well but the teen activites didn't start up until late afternoon or early evening.

I threw in a frisbee when I was packing and the kids had a ball on the beach and in the ocean throwing it.

I forgot to mention we saw two different kinds of sting rays in the surf coming within just inches of us when we were playing in the ocean. I think I got a photo of the large one. When I get it developed I will post a link. We also saw a sea turtle in the late afternoon around 5:30 in the surf.

Great trip!!!!!

To those that posted concerns about the snake and rat. This was our 5th trip to Vero and our first experience with these types of encounters please do not let this discourage you. It is a beautiful resort!!!!!!! Just watch before you step.;)

We saw several squirrels while we were there. IMO, a squirrel is just a rat with a bigger tail. We usually don't think twice about the squirrels so I suppose a rat shouldn't be any different.

Thank you SnowWitch for the info on teen activities. Sounds like something DD would like, especially volleyball! Sometimes just having the chance to get away from Mom and Dad for a break is the best motivation!

There was a woman at Disney who had a rat in her room. She told us she didn't know why she married him.

We were at Vero last week also. We also had a perfect view from the third floor. Which building were you in Snowwitch?

Seems like my daughter mentioned a rat but I think it was at VWL the week before.

My 13 yr old did many of the teen activities. She stayed very busy. They have a lot more than last year. One night some of the activities were cancelled because of lack of attendance. I think that was Tuesday.

We also saw the turtles heads bob out of the water one day. Wed or Thurs we spottd a shark south of Disney beach area. On Tuesday (June 1) we rode our bikes to Sebastion state park. On the indian river that is along A1A we saw 2 dolphans and on the pier at Sebastion we saw several manetees. The same day of the next day we saw the Manetee at DVB.

Vero was great. Very relaxing.

After 5 trips we still have not ate outside our room. We always say next time. Any dining advice?

We were in building 15.

We enjoy the Patio and Capt Hiriam's, we go to each every trip and sometimes we hit them both twice. We always go out for dinner with the exception of 1-2 nights during our stay. Those nights we eat and Sonya's and Shutters.

Thats what I love about VB you almost always see animals. we love it!!!

Snow Which

We were in Building 14 from May 30 to June 4.
Sounds like we were nieghbors.

How far is Patio and Capt Hiriams? Is Capt Hiriams on the Indian River? Is it the one you can take a dolphan cruise/dinner boat?

Enjoying this thread since I'm craving info on Vero! Not looking forward to rats and snakes, but hey, they probably aren't looking forward to seeing me either! As long as they leave me and mine alone, I will leave them and theirs alone ;)

Wondering about the teen activities - my ds turns 13 in Aug and we will be there in July - will he be allowed to participate if he wants to? He is a very social kid, has a lot of friends that are 13 already, and loves activities like flag football and volleyball.

My youngest will love seeing the animals - well anyways I'm thinking more along the lines of dolphins and manatees!

Also, glad for the mention of frisbee! I will be packing one!

He will definitely be allowed to participate. My oldest son is 14 and the younger is 2 months away from 12. The 12 yr old wasn't interested in the younger activities. He was very welcome and had a ball!!!!! There is an age group of 10-12 who really are to old from the younger activities but not included in the 13 in up. I think the recreation directors realize this. C(11) had no problems and had a great time!!!

If you take a left when leaving the resort it is probably a 20 minute drive tot he Patio. Capt Hiriams is in Sebastian and probably 15-20 minutes away and this is the place you can take the different cruises. They have a website with info on the various cruises and the menu. I believe with certain cruises you recieve a discount on your dinner but we have yet to do a cruise.

I will post a list of all activities offered during our one week stay Sun or Mon. This should give others an idea of what is available to the kids.

SnowWitch -
Thanks for the answer about 12yo participating! I'm so glad they give some leeway!

I'll also be watching for your post on the activites!

Thanks so much for your information! It is wonderful planning to visit some place new, but I love having as much knowledge about it as I can so we can have the best time possible!

Thanks again!
