A Baptism, MNSSHP, & FD...sweating our way through 6 days at POP!! Completed!

I'm really enjoying your TR! Can't wait to read more, but I do have a question as well. You mentioned that you converted your tickets to AP, and I was wondering what your original tickets were (how many days, park hopper, no expiration, etc?) I *think* I get the whole upgrade thing, but I am looking for a real life example.

Thanks!
Mel

We finished up eating our dinner and I went out to get our costumes. I could see people walking by with all kinds of costumes. We went to MNSSHP last year and only Juliana dressed up. That wasn't going to happen this year.

I met up with the girls and they went to get dressed... so did I. We were ready to party!!! It was about 7:15 at this time. Juliana was Alice, Melody was Jasmine, and I was Jack Sparrow.

DSC06556.jpg

Melody didn't have any accessories for her Jasmine costume so we walked over to Tink's Treasures because we saw some in there earlier. While Mel went inside Juliana and I hung outside of the store.

DSC06559.jpg

While we were waiting a CM that was working there saw Juliana and started talking to her. She was holding a Minnie doll dressed up as Tink for the party. She was very nice to Juliana.

DSC06560.jpg

She asked Juliana if she would like to be sprinkled with pixie dust. Of course she would. The CM took Minnie's wand and shook it all over Juliana.

DSC06561.jpg

She was covered in green pixie dust! (Glitter!) Even with baths it stayed in her hair for almost a week! LOL I can't stress how nice she was to Juliana. I wish I got her name because I would have filled out a card for her. (maybe I can send the picture to Disney?)

Mel came out and had her earrings and necklace.. although I think she just wore the earrings.

We wanted to take a picture with Cinderella's coach as it was one of my must do's! The line was already long but it was moving. It took about 20 minutes or so to make it up to the coach. The PP photographer took a picture of us too. Which came out much better that his, which was fuzzy.

DSC06571.jpg

DSC06572.jpg

We headed over to Frontierland and we were looking for a spot. A CM stopped us and started talking to us about our costumes. I didn't know where he was going with this. He told us that 2 weeks prior, he, his wife and his daughter were dressed up in the same costumes we had! He told us we looked good! LOL We were kinda like a Disney potpourri!

We finally found a spot and a nice family actually slid their strollers over so Juliana could have a front row seat. We were grateful and we shared some glowsticks that we had with their kids.

A girl that I work with was going to be at MNSSHP too. So I gave her a call and she met us to watch the parade. We could see the headless horseman coming towards us. I missed the picture this year.... it was all fuzzy and didn't come out good at all. It was neat seeing him again though. A few minutes later we could see the beginning of the parade and hear the music. I think this the most catchy music of any parade. 'Boo to you, and you, and you, Happy Halloween!' Here is link to the music incase you never heard it before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8YHUD_uD5U Or just play it while reading the rest of this post!! LOL

It was the pirates turn. Captn' Hook and Smee were coming.

DSC06583.jpg

I saw Jack Sparrow coming in the distance. He was facing the other side of the street. Right before he got to us he turned and was facing our direction. Right as he was passing us he saw me and I pointed to him. Captn' Jack bowed to me! It was so awesome!! The people we were with and standing next to started laughing. It was really cool!

DSC06586.jpg

A few more pics....

DSC06585.jpg

These guys are my favorite part of the parade. They have shovels and dance with them. They also smash them on the ground and it makes sparks.

DSC06587.jpg

DSC06588.jpg

The Villains need their time too!!

DSC06595.jpg

DSC06598.jpg

Pluto! One of our favorites!!

DSC06599.jpg

It's over here comes Goofy!

DSC06600.jpg

DSC06603.jpg

This is Juliana and the son of the girl that we met up.

DSC06604.jpg

Me with the girls.

DSC06605.jpg

We said goodbye to the people that I know. They were going in one direction and we were going to go in another. We wanted to make our way over to the front of the castle for the fireworks, walk on Alice & Mad Hatters treat trail, and do some trick or treating. We HAD to get a picture of Juliana and Alice together! So we headed over to ToonTown.

Would we see Alice? Ride any rides? See the fireworks?
To Be Continued.......

Uh oh...I hope that there was just something wrong the spiel that day!
I didn't notice.. it could of still been playing though.:confused3

Hi Mel! :welcome:

I bought the girls 10 day non-expiring tickets that I didn't upgrade. I bought myself an 8 day non-expiring, park hopper, with waterpark & more option from Undercover Tourist. The bought it before the prices went up in August. UT was running a special on that ticket. The price came to $435 (or $437 something like that) If you want to upgrade a ticket, you have to do it within 14 dqays of the first time you use it. You also should use the ticket at least 1 day before upgrading to get the full value of the ticket.

IE. If I tried to upgrade the ticket before using it 1 time they would of given me $435 towards the AP. But since I used it they gave me the full value (including tax) which was $530. The AP costs $527 ish with tax so I basically traded the one I had for the AP.

I hope this makes sense. :lmao::confused3:surfweb::idea:

Gosh, you guys look great. Love the costumes and the photos of the parade are great as is the pic in front of Cinderella's Coach. Mark and I are definitely going to have to do this one year.

You should do the party! I'm sure Mark could find the 'right' hat to wear!!! LOLOL

Looks like a great time at the party. How hot was it by this time?
I didn't talk about that yet... It was H.O.T. I was dying! It had to be about 88 at 8:30pm with humidity. Once again we were downing water like crazy. I used more snack credits on water than I ever thought possible. I would of filled the bottles up at water fountains but I don't love the taste of the FL tap water.:sad2:

Love the updates. MK looks like a ghost town. I don't think I've ever seen crowds so low. Everybody looks great in their costume. I can't wait to see Juliana with her 'sister.'
I just saw the boo to you parade on youtube. It's such a nice parade. I have a quick question. What setting did you use on your camera for spectro? Did you use a flash? I just got a sony cybershot and I'm trying to figure out what settings to use for everything. What setting did you use during the day. Was that wish flash? Thanks

You guys all looked great!

Aw that CM looks like she was having a blast with Juliana. It's such a lucky chance to run into nice CM's anymore!

That is so neat you can get your pic with Cinderella's coach!

Loved the parade pics. I REALLY want to see it in person! That's so funny Capt.Jack saw you. I bet he was honored to have you dressed up as him! pirate:

Your wife and daughter look incredibly familiar to me but I can't place why! I think we may have had a conversation in Disney (we were there 10/4-10/9) we were at MNSSHP on the 6th but I don't recognize the costumes (We were dressed as the purple parrots from legends of the hidden temple)

I have to read through your report more when I get home to see if I can jog my memory!

The crowds were so low when we got there but MK quickly started filling up around 7.

For the parade I kept it on automatic with the flash off. Sometimes I use flash during the day and sometimes I don't.(I'm a big help huh?LOLOL) It depends on the light and if there are shadows.

I love your costumes! You guys looked awesome!!!

Denise
Thanks!!!! It was warm in long sleeves but worth it! pirate:

She was so nice of her to take some time with Juliana.

That was on my to do list and we actually did it!!! :lmao:

It is an awesome parade! It is my favorite!

Honored? That might be pushing it a tad!!! LOL:rotfl2:

WOW that would be something if you talked to them. We were in MK from 4 and didn't get changed till 7 so it is possible. We also split up for a while too. That would be pretty neat if you guys talked!! :upsidedow

Wow the Boo to You parade looks like a lot of fun! I'm going to grad school right now to be a teacher so I don't know when I'll ever get to go in the MNSSHP time period so I love seeing people's pictures from it. It looks like so much fun! :thumbsup2

Your costumes are great! That's so cute with the CM being so nice to Juliana. That's really what makes Disney so different than any other theme parks.

Thanks for the report on the party. We are going next year the week before you went this year.
Planning on arriving at 4pm- only 20 minutes or so to wait for the coach--awesome

what about the 7 dwarves-- were ya able to do them?

If you get the chance you have to go to MNSSHP at least once! We've always had a great time at the party. Now my DW wants to go for Christmas. LOL

We walked past Snow White & the Dwarves on our way to ToonTown and the line was really long. We decided to skip it. I have a pic coming up, but I don't think it shows the line.

It was about 7:25 when we hit the coach. I'm pretty sure it doesn't open till 7.

I love the coach pictures!!!!!!! you guys looked GREAT!
Awwww Thanks! It was really fun dressing up this year. On Halloween, Juliana kept asking Mel why she wasn't dressing up. She kept telling her to put on her Jasmine costume! LOL:rotfl:

Sweet Costume Dude...:thumbsup2

I've never dressed up before, I may have to change that next time...:headache:

Juliana is the perfect Alice!! That costume looked really Great! Mel and you were fabulous, too!

All those great pictures really make me want to go at Halloween! It looks like such a fun atmosphere! Maybe next year....

Thanks!

I would say about 85% of kids, 70% of teens, and 50% of adults were dressed up. Most people who weren't dressed in costumes had some type of Halloween attire on. It was really fun to be dressed up and quite a few people, kids and adults, acknowledged me saying 'nice costume' or 'hey it Jack Sparrow.'

Her hair was looking extremely blond this day. Both of her parents (ahem) have dark brown hair! LOLOL I think I like the more plain Alice costume, but this one was nice too. It was just more frilly.. kinda like the princess costumes are.

You should go at Halloween. MNSSHP starts in September so you have a 2 month window to get there!!! pirate:

After the parade, we started heading over towards ToonTown. We stopped at a few trick or treating spots on our way over. We walked through FantasyLand and the ride lines were 'normal' waits. IE: 30min for PP, 10 IASM, 30 Dumbo. We just walked past all the rides as we were trying to get to ToonTown. We saw Snow White & the Seven Dwarves but that line was really long, so we passed on waiting. We wanted to see Alice!

We made it to ToonTown and on the right there was free face painting, which had a long line. We passed all the houses and headed over to get some candy.

DSC06614.jpg

These lighted up balloons show where to find the candy.

DSC06615.jpg

Ana being silly & cute-

DSC06613.jpg

We made it to the start of Alice & the Mad Hatter's treat trail. There was a line in front of the train station to see the Mad Hatter. It was very short and we got in to wait. We made it to see the Mad Hatter and he loved Juliana's costume!

DSC06617.jpg

After seeing him, we walked over to the stroller and were about to walk down the trail. Then Alice appeared! We had to get a picture of Juliana with Alice, so we got back in line. The Mad Hatter stayed for about 2-3 minutes and some lucky kids got to take pictures with both of them! The Hatter left and it was just Alice.

Alice & Jasmine waiting patiently-

DSC06618.jpg

The line was still short. It took us less than 10 minutes to get back in line and make it to the front to see Alice. First Alice signed her autograph book.

DSC06619.jpg

Alice was very nice to Juliana and told her how much she loved her dress. Alice even showed Juliana how to curtsey.

DSC06622.jpg

Mission accomplished! We got to see Alice & the Mad Hatter! We made our way down the trail toward TomorrowLand. It was 9:15 and HalloWishes was starting in 15 minutes. We made it through the trail and the girls had enough of their costumes. It was extremely HOT. It was still in the upper 80's and still humid. I kept my costume on.. I was already in it & I wasn't changing! LOL

After they changed we needed something to drink. We aren't big soda drinkers- so water it was. While I was in line the fireworks started- RATS. I finally got our waters and we walked in-between the Laugh Floor and Stitch to try to make it towards the hub. Yea Right.. It wasn't happening. The bridge out of TomorrowLand was packed, and we still had the stroller, so there was no way to get through. There is a path next to the Laugh Floor where we stood to see the fireworks. I love the music for these fireworks. I didn't get one picture because of the angle and there were a few trees in front of us.

Once the fireworks ended, we hung out there for a few minutes and relaxed. We needed a breather.LOL Plus we were letting the crowds disperse a bit. We decided we would head over to the hub and check out the Villains Show. I'm glad we did. It was a great little show which highlighted all the Disney villains! Hey, they need their time in the spotlight too!

We were able to get a spot right in front of the stage for the show.

DSC06637.jpg

Once the show ended the mix-and-mingle started. It was a little chaotic for a couple minutes while people were jockeying for position. We ended up getting in line to see Captn' Hook. I think it was a good idea. I think Maleficent was the biggest draw.

DSC06639.jpg

I don't think that Captn' Hook liked my costume-

DSC06640.jpg

It was almost 10:30 by this time and the girls had enough. We decided to call it a night and started to make our way down Main St. All the buildings had Halloween decorations and there were lighted pumpkins all over the place. It looked really nice all lit up. We were walking out and I saw this lit up.

DSC06646.jpg

We walked out and turned around to see the Main St. station decorated as well.

DSC06647.jpg

DSC06648.jpg

By arriving early, you miss all these decorations and you don't get to see everything lit up. We were walking to the bus and there was one more treat in store for us. The Electric Water Parade was heading past the resorts.

DSC06652.jpg

The bus was loading and Mel & Juliana ended up with a seat. I stood again. Why break the streak tonight? We had a great time at the party and we headed back to POP. Tomorrow we would be spending the day at DHS and we had a dinner ARD at the Hoop Dee Doo Review dinner show!

Next- How hot is HOT? Catch that boat! Never. Ever. Again.

Few thoughts about our experience at MNSSHP.

1- We never made it to adventure land. I would have loved to have been able to see Jack Sparrow.

2- If you are able to be in MK on a party day do it. There place was 1/2 empty.

3- We missed the dance parties. We just ran out of time.

4- The Boo To You parade is the best Disney parade I have seen.

5- If you want to see the fireworks, camp out in the hub and watch the Boo To You parade as well.

6- Not a lot of chocolate candy. We prefer chocolate but with the heat it would of made a huge mess. Glad there wasn't too much!

7- Even with planning, you cannot see everything. There is not enough time. When we left there was only 1 1/2 hours left. I guess we could of hit some rides, but having a 3 yr old 10:30 was late enough for us.
