A 1BR is the most expensive room type

Admittedly I’m one of those people who hypes the Poly longhouse studios over other studios for the bathroom space, but I always make it clear in my posts that there is only one toilet. They’re still the best studio as far as bathrooms go!

But now you have reminded me that my one main annoyance with Riviera is that the 1BR, as wonderful as it is in many ways, only has one toilet. I wish all 1BRs across property had two toilets.
Last summer, we did a split stay with 3 nights at BCV studio and 7 nights at Poly studio. We typically just leave all the beds out for the duration of the stay because we don’t really hang out in the room much. The BCV studio definitely felt crowded for us, while moving around the Poly studio has always been fine. The split bathroom has been a huge deal, especially late at night when everyone is tired and wants a shower.

So, in a way, the Poly studio is OUR 1BR upgrade. 😁

Poly Studios are great, but they do come at a premium. A 1BR at a 2042 resort is usually only a few more points. I like Poly, and appreciate the big studios, but I don't consider them to be a bargain.

1BRs expensive? Yes. But we've set up our points based on staying in a 1BR because we love the setup. More room, the wash/dry in the room (which means we bring less luggage!), the option to eat-in comfortably (if we choose). We do very occasionally still grab a studio when necessary, but not for a longer stay.... The 1BR is worth the points for us because it's how we enjoy staying..... Clearly, we're not alone!

This is a great point as well.

For us it comes down to personal priorities of each trip. Poly and VGF studios fall somewhere between traditional studios and 1BRs. I like having the choice of the amped up studios.

Sometimes the choice is burn the extra 5+ points on 1BR, or save 5+ points and get an elevated studio. We own at Boardwalk and VGF. The BW studios can feel a bit underwhelming compared to our studio stays at Poly/VGF. Don’t get me wrong, I love BWV and am happy to stay in any room there. But I also can justify spending the extra points for VGF/Poly studios when we want a nicer room experience than BW studio but don’t really need a 1BR. I appreciate having an option in between.

Double the space = double the points and im okay with that.

This last trip made it clear that we never want to stay in studios again unless its for staycations.

The lack of utensils, somewhere to eat in your room, a smaller bed, bathroom etc. makes it make sense why its double the cost. It was a completely different experience staying in a ccv studio than a one bedroom. I went from "i never care to stay here again" to "id love to own here"

I can see why the two bedroom doesnt command triple points, its an extra sleeping space mostly and not an extra kitchen, washing machine, etc that you get from going from a studio to a one bedroom.

I would never pay for a one bedroom cash, so comparing it to that is irrelevant to me. And im not going to be uncomfortable in a studio because a 2 bedroom i dont need is a better "deal." I just use the points and dont compare. Thats what cheap SSR resale was for.

I’ve only stayed in studios and 2 bedrooms. I find the cost per night for the 1 bedroom tough to swallow, but I think it would be great when we travel as a full family of four and my preteen and second kid can have their own space and bathroom (ideally) away from mom and dad. I really think they will appreciate that. The 2 bedroom is NICE. Going back to studios after that was hard.

Now that I’ve gone DVC, the idea of a normal hotel room breaks me out in hives. I only want to stay in timeshares or studios with more separate sleeping spaces like DVC now.
Im the same way! Im worried to book at another hotel because what if the bed isnt comfortable, or the pillows arent perfect like dvc, or the service isnt good 🤣🤣

Disney definitely has changed my expectations for service at any other non Disney property. The CMs are so well trained and know how to think creatively.

The bed personally I don’t think is super comfortable but I think it is so much better than many hotels. Yes. We are spoiled.

And I use the sobel pillows nightly!

Same here, I know im probably not going to get the same level of service pretty much anywhere else in the area without paying an arm and a leg so im hesitant to go somewhere else. After covid, it seemed like customer service was dead in many places.

We are def spoiled, me saying I wont stay in a Disney studio 🤣🤣 I also use my sobel pillows nightly so thats another plus for Disney, im already used to the pillows so I know im going to get a good night's sleep!
