So I was deep in thought the other day, thinking about life's small mysteries, how things change in the blink of an eye, and no one can ever understand why.

Then I got to thinking, I need to take advantage of these little gifts in life and do something greater, follow my own dreams and aspirations, be a better me.

One aspiration is to move closer to Disney. Now I am still years from retirement, so that means I need a job. So that got me thinking... what kind of jobs do they have down there that fit some of the experience I have... what jobs are Universal?

Then I was like...hey...

Where have I heard that before...

YUP.... Thanks @Teleclashter you just gave me some inspiration

Here is Craig, @Ryno , @imjenilynn and @Dustin (aka DIS Universal) this one is for you.

Since I am in the process of changing things up,

Change is Universal! We all have the ability to change, we all hope it is for the better, but we all need to make changes and see how it plays out. I for one think the changes I will make will drastically change my life around, for the better, and really I could not come soon enough.

For me, Universal is two things:
Harry Potter is Universal.
It brings together my love of theme parks (and my "big kid" personality) and my love for Harry Potter. The forbidden journey is the best ride I've ever been on and I can't wait to spend time in Diagon Alley.
I wish with everything that I have that I could go to DISapalooza, but it just wasn't possible. It's hard enough trying to get hubby to go all the way to the States and spend time at WDW again 2.5 years after the first and only time, let alone doing it "just for a party" :-(

And secondly, Patience is Universal.
Patience because I think every day about Orlando, getting back to WDW and UOR, but know it's still so far away and heavens knows when the time will be after that!!

"Craft beer" is universal

Princess Jess, I would rent points for your 2016 vacation. I would not under any circumstances want to share a hotel room with another couple. "Privacy" is universal!

Haha, for the disney portion we are (if possible) and the universal we will share a room

"Kindness" is Universal

If I could try to do one kind unselfish act for someone else per day I would feel better. Sometimes that can be hard to do at Disney or the Dark Side: crowded, hot, overly stimulating

But I will try

Ok, I've been thinking about this, mulling it over. And then when Pete thanked the listeners for emailing offers to help out Princess Jes (glad you got some help btw, Princess Jes) it hit home for me.

This thread reminded me of a topic I wrote an essay on a long time ago when I was finishing my English degree. I had had a moment of clarity about how it is that human passion is able to form connections between seemingly unconnectable people. I was thoroughly enjoying myself at a BB King concert in 1998 (God rest his soul) and had just noticed a tiny old lady sitting prime and proper a few rows before me smiling just as big as she could. At about the same moment, a frat guy was heading up the stairs and he was grinning like a fool. We locked eyes and he reached out for a high five and then let out a whoop of joy.

I have no doubt that a love of the blues would likely be one of a very few passions that the three of us very different people share. And yet we were three among thousands that shared a passion and that created a community.

Over many summers from the age of 17, I worked at summer camp...there were a good many of us that returned year after year. We attended camping conferences and trainings and had get togethers and off season camping trips - just generally behaved like big camp dorks. But our love of camping brought us together and made us a community. Some of these people have been my best friends for 20 years now.

And then there is Disney, and no one here needs it pointed out to them that the passion and love for Disney certainly creates communities.

I'm from Kentucky, and while I am not a sports fan, you don't know basketball fans until you talk to a Kentucky Wildcat Fan. Talk about a community!

So, all this long rambling post to say "Community" is universal!

Beautifully said sunnykylake!!

Being from "down under" (as you all know, pete, what a doll!! Still haven't listened to this week's solo show, saving it for tomorrow when I'm laying by my private pool in my villa in Bali!!) there aren't many of us disney people around.
I've got my sister @minniemumma , who is more of a Disney Movie fan, and always has been, and she sparked my interest in doing WDW on our honeymoon (I might have only visited DL if it weren't for her, but when I looked into WDW and saw UOR and WWoHP, my mind was made up. Also, the fact you all understood that, makes me smile!) and the research became an obsession (We have OCD) but I would consider myself a disney parks and business/company fan (much like Dustin) which is an even more niche fan base down here. Most people have done DL, but few have done WDW (my husband's friends had and said "you only need a day or two there... We did 6 and it wasn't nearly enough, and he agreed afterwards)
But through the podcast, I've made friends with @bjmort and also people on the Australia forum.

So yes, I agree. Community is Universal. I love our little community, especially here on the podcast board. We get it ;-)

Just got to read your post, and wanted to thank you so much for your stories, they definitely brought smiles to my face! I can also relate - I met many life-long friends through my love of Disney starting back in '92 on Prodigy who are still very much a part of my life, and continuing on through time and different mediums - both online and off - from there. I also hope to continue meeting many more!

Ah prodigy! That seems like a different lifetime ago. I still have some friends (now offline friends also) I met through Prodigy way back when. Love those memories and friendships! Disney trivia was so much fun :)

Never did trivia on Prodigy, but had lots of fun doing it on GEnie, which is another place I migrated through. :) If you were on Prodigy - did you ever make it to one of the Gatherings (get togethers of Disney fans in WDW started there)? They were SO fun!
