okay so we've got 3 adult DDP'rs and 1 child (9yrold sophisticated eater :rotfl: ) on the DDP.
The child menus concerned me a bit.... so I tried to mix in ADR's at alot places like: Biergarten, Ohanas, Boma, Whispering Canyon thinking he can have the same choices we ( the adults) do from the buffet.
Anyone see a potential problem w/ this?
Just trying to keep them all happy:goodvibes

We do the exact same thing. I have a 5 and 8 yr. old that like to eat and eat well. I booked as many buffets as I could fit into our schedule to try and not have them eating chicken nuggets, pizza and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches all week. I can hear the whine starting now if that is all they had to choose from.

As long as those restaurants fit into your schedule and you have a kid who is not overly picky they are great. My kids love them. :)

Whispering Canyon is not a buffet, but children can order a child's version of the all you can eat skillet.

My 9 YO is not a sophisticated eater and even she got tired of the child's menus. She is so excited that she will soon be considered a Disney adult!

We have the same situation. Both the 8 and 9 year old are adventuresome, big eaters. The 9 year old will want the "big" menu more often than not. We are doing at least half buffets for that reason.

Biergarten
Tepan Edo
Boma
Hoop de Doo
Kona Cafe
50's Prime Time

If push comes to shove at Kona or PTC the 9 and 12 year old will trade items, she'd rather eat off the little kids menu most of the time anyway.

Can you upgrade a child to an adult on the Dining Plan? 3 of us will be on adult TS and I know my eatign sushi since she was three, begs to go for indian, 7 year old will be real ticked not ot be getting the good stuff. And yes I know her 10 year old brother could share, but he eats like a horse and likes all of the good stuff too.

Only if you say they are 10 when booking. Then, you'll have to pay the higher price for his/her ticket since it's all booked in a package.

Well we are using the military 5 day tickets which don't depend on age, so I guess I could call and change the age. It shouldn't change the price of my hotel would it?

We upgraded our DD8 to a 10 year old last September on the Deluxe dining. We did have to pay extra--but we felt it was worth it. It is a lot of food, but she had a variety of foods to choose from. We don't eat at buffets, but that is another good option. We have already booked another trip this September and have upgraded her again. I have never had a problem booking her as a 10
year old with the CM's.

I think the next time we go we will do more buffet style eating also..we went last April and my DD was 4..I was ordering the Adult meals for her and I was eating off the kids menu!

I also upgraded my dd to the adult plan. I had to pay for an adult ticket for her, but even doing a Florida Resident Season Pass, it was well worth the extra money. I couldn't bear to be eating anything I wanted while she was limited to chicken fingers and mac and cheese. They actually changed her birthday in the system... the next year she was 10 so I just let them know the next year when I booked our vacation.
