One important point for all of us in this that I haven't seen mentioned here yet:

DOUBLE CHECK your flight times!

We're holding Song tickets for Boston to Orlando and back (12/3 to 12/10) and the flight times changed -- what, 25 times? -- between the time we bought the tickets and now. SO, while you're online anyway keeping tabs on the strike, please also be on top of checking your flight times; if you are flying Song, you can pretty much guarantee they've made changes.

Ironically, ours has not changed since October 1. Amazing. Calm before storm???? But yes, I check them everyday, at least twice a day.

Well, I am reading this as a good sign for those of us flying over Thanksgiving. This was just updated:

With multiple witnesses yet to be called, it was considered unlikely Beatty would make a ruling on the contract Thursday. Court officials said the case would not be heard again until Monday, Nov. 28.

It depends on how Delta reacts to any pilots strike that might occur. Remember that Delta owns Comair. Delta just cut 350 jobs at Comair, is cutting another 650 soon, and has announced many Comair service cuts effective in January. So, while Comair may still be flying some profitable routes, it is very likely that the vast majority of Comair flights would be grounded in case of a Delta shut-down.

We have to remember that overhead on the feeder airlines is significantly less then that of the large (in this case Delta) airline. The feeder airlines employee's make fractions of what Delta pilots make and the equipment the feeders use is much more affordable to opperate. If I had to predict an outcome to this situation, I would say the Bankruptcy Judge sides with the coorperation and Delta voids the pilots contract. The pilots DO NOT go on strike and continue collective bargining with the coorperation. In the event of a Delta shut-down, from my "studies", I would say fairly confidently that ComAir (along with SkyWest and ASA) will pick up a good load of the flights opperated by Delta and continue with them.

Yes, be sure to check your flight times. We have some for early Jan through Delta. I was informed of time change but DW and kids were not. We had different flights down, different days. But same flight back. They had all 4 flights completely rearranged and only earmarked one by email. Good thing I called.

Fingers crossed for all flying Delta that things will be worked out.

If Delta does shut down (which is extremely unlikely) they'll likely be forced to liquidate Comair to help pay off creditors.
