I'm not sure if this will get moved to a different DVC thread but I thought the "Mousecellaneous" thread would be the best place to start.

Anyway...I was looking around different timeshare rental websites for a place in Daytona Beach and I came across a listing for OKW that states the following.

7 full nights Sat - Sat. I will include a II guest certificate in the selling price so buyer legally has rights. Buyer may have to pay a $95 DVC fee before check to Disney (includes a free transfers to/from aiport). You have option of buying into Disney Dine Plan thru Disney prior to check-in

I contacted the seller inquiring about what this $95.00 fee was all about and this was the response.

The $95 is for anyone who trades into a DVC property (and does not own a DVC property). A disney requirement to cover the meal plan eligibility and transfers.

Can anyone explain what this is and what this is about? I've never heard of the $95.00 fee!

:thumbsup2

Are you talking about RENTING a reservation or TRADING a week from another timeshare you own to be able to stay at WDW instead of your home timeshare?

If you are talking about trading, as mentioned in the quote, yes, there typically fees involved in trading. At least there are when DVC members want to trade into other timeshare properties, so I would imagine it also happens the other way around.

There has always been the fee for folks trading into DVC from other timeshares. It is to cover the transportation costs that members usually cover in our dues. That fee is only applicable when it is an exchang into DVC from another timeshare though.

That is a $95 resort fee that DVC collects when someone trades into DVC using Interval International from another timeshare. It is against Interval International policy to sell/re-rent those trades.

If you are looking at renting a reservation (points) from a DVC members, I suggest trying our own DVC Rent/Trade board.

I wasn't looking at renting points from a DVC member (I AM a DVC member), I was looking for Daytona Beach and came across the posting about OKW and wondered what the $95.00 fee was.

This is a $95 Resort Services fee. There is a lot of incorrect information around about what it's for. It's not for transportation or the like. It's essentially to pay for the costs of running the program whereby II members can exchange in then call for requests, dining reservations and the like. The fee is only for WDW, not VB or HH interestingly enough. While it's a bogus charge, it's still much cheaper for me to exchange in than to use points most of the time.
