90's Grunge/Alternative Rock

Anyone else like this type of rock?..i love it, i think the 90's had some great rock and some great one hit wonders. What was everyones favorite band from the 90's?

Yeah! The 1790's were the best. My favorite writers from then are probably von Weber and Beethoven. Definitely my favorite group would be the Symphony at Mannheim. An incredible woodwind section that could really rock!

I have to confess that most of the time my XM radio is tuned to "Lucy". They play all my favorites. I love Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, the Breeders, Nirvana, Hole, etc. I have very diverse musical tastes but I still love those oldies. I guess they just remind me of a more carefree time before kids and mortgage.

Oh, my favorite one hit wonder is "Pepper" by the Butthole Surfers. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say that here.

Fans of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden should check out the CD's by Temple of the Dog and Mother Love Bone.

Bone is the band most of Pearl Jam was in before the singer died and Temple was a side project that had members of both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.

Another favorite of mine is Baby Animals but it's very hard to find their CD's. Kind of a bluesy take on grunge.

Pearl Jam (do you know how they got their name?)

They have said jokingly in interviews that they had a Aunt named Pearl... but everybody knows better.

They initially went by the name Mookie Blaylock (NBA basketball player) which is why the first CD is called Ten (Mookie's jersey number).

RIP Layne Staley. I crewed for AIC on their first US tour, awesome, awesome band.

I'm also a big Soundgarden fan. Chris Cornell...mmmmmm....

Loved STP.

And Cardawy, yup, Temple of the Dog and Mother Love Bone were both GREAT bands. I never saw Temple, but I did see MLB open for someone in early 1990.

My favorite bands were Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, and Smashing Pumpkins. STP in an outdoor concert in Orlando was my first concert.

I have an order in at Amazon for the greatest hits for all of the bands I just mentioned.

Alice in Chains was one of my favorite performers on MTV's unplugged. Will they bring back that show or did people forget how to play guitar.

Soundtrack to Singles - Still have that CD and liked the Smashing Pumpkins song toward the end of the album. A great soundtrack!

I can't agree with this statement. There has been no more bad music in this decade then there was in any other. We just tend to forget about the garbage after it has passed.

Mozart died in 1791. Beethoven was born in 1770 and took some lessons from Mozart before he died. Beethoven's early work was in the late 1790's. I don't think he knew Eddie Vedder.
