My neices are 9 years old and I would like to know are they know enforcing the ages on the meal plan? We have gone 2 with our son and they have never enforced it up until know. I do not have a problem with getting what I pay for but would like to know before we go. THANKS

My understanding is yes, they are enforcing it now. We considered buying my son the adult DDp, because he likes more grown-up type foods. (He will be 9 just before our next trip.) I found out that if they want an adult meal (say a burger, for example) they can purchase an adult order of fries and med drink with the kids CS credit, then you buy a burger OOP. They could do this several times during the week, and you still come out way ahead. I have heard most TS places will serve a child-size portion of an adult meal if you request. Also, when going to buffet restaurants, kids can eat off the adult buffet. I think this plan still gives plenty of freedom of choices for $11/day!

Anyone else? My neices will eat adult food so the idea of buying the adult package is not out of the question. I also think after a week at disney those kids meals would get old. The CS are not a problem it's the TS I'm concerned with.

I would go over specific menus and prices for where you want to eat, and do the math, before buying them adult meals. That's an extra $300 for 2 kids/week. You will probably come out way ahead to stick with the kids DDP, and buy a few meals OOP. You can always use their extra credits for breakfast. Last year my son strayed from the kids menu 2 or 3 times during the week, but we had enough variety that he was usually happy sticking to his menu.

We went to WDW in December with our DS9 and DS5. Our kids are fairly adventurous in terms of eating and the kids meals did get old, even for DS5. They are used to variety and the child meals get repetitive after a while. Our biggest problem was that the portion size was fine for DS5 but too small for DS9. So, DS9 would often eat part of my meal as well as his own, or I would eat the child meal and he'd eat mine. If you buy the adult dining plan for the kids, you have to have adult tickets for them as well. HTH!

And buying the adult meal plan means you will also be purchasing adult priced tickets which would make the cost even higher.

We just came back on January 3rd before the change. My 9 year dd had no problem with the TS choices as most of the time they were very flexible. However, the counter service options at MK were horrible and at our resort and at AK (Flametree BBQ). We did not eat at MGM so we don't know how it was there. I'd probably do as suggested and buy a few meals out of pocket especially the counter services in MK. We ate at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot and had not problems there.

For some folks, the Dining Plan might simply not be a good choice. Folks shouldn't feel compelled to get the Dining Plan if it doesn't fit their needs.

My nieces parents would like to do the plan so it's not a question of doing it or not, it's a question of which way to go. They did it last time and loved it but at that point the girls were 6 and adult food did not interest them. I guess they can figure it out both ways and see. The idea of using the credits for breakfast sounded good. Thanks everyone!
