Ok I have a friend who says i should go ahead and pay my 9 year old as an adult with the dining plan. She says she will be stuck eating kids meals all week if she has the child plan. Does anyone have any suggestions or opinions?? Is it worth $220 extra to pay her as an adult?????

Remember that if you pay for her meals as an adult you also have to upgrade her to an adult park ticket. Honestly, no it is not worth the extra $$ IMHO. DO a bit of reserch and chose park CS that offer what your child will eat--Pizza Planet, Casey's, etc. If you chose to eat somewhere that your child does not like the kids menu then pay OOP for an entree a la carte. THis still will not add up to that much. Are you doing buffets or regular menu TS or a mix? It is a great value for the Buffets, if you dont' like the children's menu at the TS talk to your server and see how things could be mixed or changed up to suit your child.

Don't forget just because you have a child credit does not mean you will have to use it, if there are some meals she wants off the adult menu it may be mnore cost effeive to pay OOP for them. It is also worth asking servies if they can do a childs portion, some might, and at buffets she can have what she wants. Probably not worth the extra expense

I'm doing that, but we're staying at DVC with Annual Passes, so we don't have to upgrade. It simply depends on you and your child's tastes. My dd9 LOVES steak. I got tired of ordering steak off the adult menus at all our meals last summer to give to her. And she doesn't like most of the CS children's meals. I could pay OOP for a few TS and most CS meals for her, or I could just make life easy and pre-pay on the dining plan. The first would probably be less expensive, but the second is simply easier.

It depends on her eating habits. IMO as far as portion size, the kids meals are more than generous. Regarding TS we found the selection to be quite good. Now when it comes to CS...there is the problem. IMO I think that Disney has jumped on the childhood obesity/health food bandwagon, and I was disappointed with the CS selections. My issue is not with offering fruit and such as sides, or H2o or juice as a drink (although you can sub soda and fries at no extra cost) it just seemed that the entree selections were not exactly geared towards kids. Chicken caesar wraps, grilled chicken. My kids ate chicken nuggets almost every day, except on 1 or 2 occasions where we found PB&J. "Mom, why can't we just have a hamburger or hot dog?"

Thanks for all the info. My mom insists that she can share her meals with her at table meals. I think I may do that and save the extra $$$$ Next year all three of my kids will pay adult prices. So sad and sooo expensive. Thanks
