To all who have stayed at THV would 4 adults, 3 teens and 2 tweens be crazy? We have booked for next year but are also considering AKV and OKW any suggestions on which would be better so that we are not stepping on each other. Due to the number of points we have we can only afford a 2bdr. Thanks for all your comments and suggestions.

Think it could be do-able but you're working with just 2 bathrooms and one of those bathrooms requires walking through the master bedroom - so then some may find that to be intrusive if they are the 2 guests staying in master bedroom. I'd guess that maybe you'd have the adults stay in masterbedroom and the additional bedroom with queen bed; so then that leaves bedroom with bunkbeds and pullout sofa and pullout chair for the teens & tweens. You may want to look at BLT 2 bedroom or AKV-Kidani 2 bedroom villas, they sleep 9 and give you 3rd full bathroom located off living room; that 3rd bathroom could be a godsend :goodvibes For okw, you'd be over occupancy; 2 bedrooms here sleep 8.

We stayed 9 people in a 2 BR in OKW. It worked - we had 4 adults and 5 kids (4 - 13). The rooms were very big so we were comfortable, but I think AKV would be good for the extra bathroom.

We stayed 8 and cramped in a 2 bedroom at blt, ever think of trying for a treehouse villa at ssr...would have pleny of room

OKW only officially sleeps eight. DVC may allow the ninth person, but currently they will not provide additional bedding for the ninth person (or the extra towels).

Assuming the bunk beds work, THV is likely the best option for this group if you don't have enough points for a 2 BR plus a studio.

I have stayed at both AKV Kidani and THV, and here's what I'd say for nine people: Kidani is great for the third bathroom, especially with all those teens and tweens. THV is great for the third bedroom, if you had, for example, lots of sets of adults and four sharing one bedroom is not feasible. It's just a matter of preference -- more bedroom privacy or more bathrooms.

I would plan out who would sleep where for each of the options and see which works best for your group. However, I will say that either way, you are filling the living room with the fold-out sofa and chair, so you may feel like you're stepping on each other. The advantage of AKV there is that there are lots of things to do right outside your door, so you don't have to be in the room as much.

I think it will work fine. We've stayed in the treehouses and the layout was great. You could put the tweens in the bunkbed room, the adults in the bedrooms, and the teens on the pullout couch and sleeper chair in the living room.

If you do not mind the air matress camp out in the living room feel you should be fine in any of your suggestions, the only 2br DVC that 9 are not allowed in now are AKL values.

That's true for DVC members, but not for cash guests through Disney and not MS. Also, the older resorts do not have a bed for the ninth person. So while they will allow a ninth person, you have to provide everything you need for that extra person - bedding, pillows, towels, etc.

I agree with maburke. We've had 9 at AKV Kidani and THV and loved them both. At the THV, the ones sleeping in the living room used the Master bathroom for showers and the other bathroom during the night so it didn't distrub the ones sleeping in the Master bedroom.

We stayed at THV with 5 adults a teenager and a 2yo toddler and we decided it was too crowded for us. We had previously had a GV for 5 adults 3 teenagers and a 3mo baby so you can tell we like our space. The THV arrangements were as follows - 2 adults shared master room and baby in pack & play, 2 adults shared 2nd bedroom, and other adult shared bunk room with teenager, but that adult who happens to be about 5'2 moved to the couch because she felt cramped on the top bunk after the 2nd night (she was only there for 3 days.) Before she arrived, the teenager said he felt uncomfortable on the top bunk too. We liked the THV for about 3 days and the area is pretty the decor is beautiful, but we probably won't stay there again. We'd have been better off if we'd have booked a 2 br. to be honest because we could have still slept as well. If you can go with Kidani, I'd say try that first, but if not, and you don't mind being a little cramped, the THV might be fine. Next time we go we are either booking studios separately for guests or trying to get in to Kidani if we need that much space. :lmao: or I'll be buying more points!

We have twice stayed in the THV with 9. First time my parents had the Master, DH and I had the second bedroom, DB and DSIL took the bunk room with the baby in a portacrib, and DBF and her DH slept on the sofa. We had plenty of space, since DBF and her hubby are an Army family they tend to get up SUPER early, so their being in the living room was never an issue. Second trip was ladies only for DD sweet 16 - Mother and auntie had master, DMIL and DSIL had second bedroom, DD and her friend had bunks, I slept on the pullout chair, DBF and her DD slept on the sofa, again, we had no trouble. We did not feel cramped at all, and the bathroom locations were never an issue!

Thanks for all the great replies..... I think that barring purchasing more points :) we will try and get OKW at the 7mth window. We are staying over Presidents Day weekend, so it may not be available...... keep your fingers crossed for us.

With nine you will need to provide your own bedding and towels for the ninth person. The two bedroom villa at OKW officially sleeps eight (only two queen beds, one king bed and one queen sleeper sofa - no sleeper chair). You will only get eight bath towels, four hand towels and eight face cloths.

Plus most buildings do not have an elevator.
