We have a high ranking woman in our company who's pretty tough with us but she has a saying I love: "This isn't brain surgery. No one's going to die if this isn't done today." Very hand for when someone has a family emergency, there's a snow storm or folk are all out on vacation. (sounds like you're there already!)
