Tuesday October 26th-MGM Studios
Again..woke up around 6am for coffee and showers. DS slept until around 7am. We headed down to the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory for some breakfast. yadda yadda same as Monday.
We got to MGM a little after 8am and headed for Star Tours. (My DH is a HUGE Star wars fan. Star Tours is always our first stop) DS was way to short to ride so DH rode the ride (practically walked on again) while DS and I looked around in the gift shop. (Like so many rides in disney- the exit to the ride is a gift shop.) They had lots of WDW exclusive Star Wars stuff here. It was GREAT for my husband. We had his and DS pics made as obi- wan and anakin. (where they put your face on their body) Of course we bought it and many other items here. This is really when that free package shipment to the hotel came in handy!
We walked around to Al's Toy barn and caught Woody, Buzz and Jessie. (My DS fav character ever is Buzz) There was about a 15 min line to see them..no big deal. DS was very excited and went up and hugged all of them. It was just priceless. We shopped around-thought about going to see the Muppet 3-D show..but decided to follow our "no shows until he's older" rule.
We ate lunch at Toy Story Pizza Planet. This is a wonderful place to eat! DH and DS had a personal pepperoni pizza and salad while I had a cheese pizza and salad. VERY VERY good Pizza. And all three of us ate for around $22. Not a bad deal.
After lunch we went to the backlot Tour. it was about a 15 min wait. DS really enjoyed it. Especially "Castastrophe Canyon. "
We then headed to the two rides I was excited about riding. The Rocking Roller Coaster and The tower of terror. One thing we noticed at once was that this side of the park is VERY VERY crowded. I assume because these are two of the most popular rides in the park..but I'm not sure. I had to Fast pass both. RRC has about a 35-40 min wait and TOT had about the same wait. We shopped around and hung out until my FP time was up. I rode the RRC first. By using the fast pass (and the fact that I was a single rider-DH HATES roller coasters and anything that drops you) I was able to cut the wait time down to about 10 mins. The music here (I am a big Aerosmith fan) was great and loud!!
I got in my "limo" pulled the bar down and waited. Remember this roller coaster goes from 0 to about 60 miles and hour in about 3 seconds. It's unbelievable. You start out from a dead stop. You hear someone counting down from 5. A VERY IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE- DO not try to take a big breath in when the countdown person says 1. I did this and due to the speed you take off I couldn't breath for a second or two and felt a little lightheaded. ( I know this because when I rode it again I didn't breathe in on the count of 1 and felt fine) The ride was AWESOME! I highly reccomend it to any and all roller coaster lovers. However, I was a little dizzy upon getting off of it and decided to wait a few mins before heading over to the TOT.
I was VERY nervous about riding the tower of terror. I hate sudden drops (except when on a roller coaster) but I was determined to ride this. With my fast pass I only waited about 5 mins. It was a very cool ride I'm sure (had I opened my eyes) but I think I'll let the thrillseekers have this one. I can say I rode it once and that's it!
We had to head out early to make our PS for the Hoop dee doo revue at Pioneer Hall. So we hopped on a bus from MGM to Fort Wilderness Campground. I had read how difficult Pioneer Hall was to find and how you had to take two different busses to get there. (Even guest services at POFQ told me this) So we left MGM an hour and a half before we were suppose to be there. (we needed to be there for 4:30 for the show at 5pm) I don't know what happened..but when our bus got to fort wilderness campground my husband asked him where we would board the bus to pioneer hall. The bus driver looked at him kind of funny and said "You see that building behind you...that's Pioneer hall". So..it wasn't hard to find at all. We were there super early so we just explored the area. VERY VERY nice area by the way. Water front...playground etc. We checked in for the show and had yet another family photo taken. (yes we bought that one too) Around 5pm a lady with one of those triangle things came out and "called" us all to dinner. Pioneer hall is like a huge log cabin. It's very cozy on the inside though. Our table was right up front..2nd row from the stage. Our waiter, Bob, left a little to be desired. He looked unhappy the entire time and didn't make conversation or anything. Totally ignored DS. I swear the only thing he said to us was "what do you want to drink?" He was the only bad part of this experience though. The food was wonderful...(Best fried chicken I've ever tasted) and the show was hilarious!!! It even kept DS entertained!
Tired and stuffed we headed back to POFQ and tried to walk off all the food we had just eaten. I was looking forward to Day #4((Sleep in then epcot!!!)) Day #4 to follow
