I am going to OKW in Nov.with 8 other adults (all unrelated). My question is whether the front desk will have a stroke if, at check-in, we each present our own credit card for charging to our room key/resort i.d.? Seems easy enough to do and I was able to do this one time before with just one other person and it worked great. Sure would simplify things! Any of y'all done that before with a group? (I am a DVC member and we are using points for our stay so there will be no room cost to deal with)

You won't be able to do that at check-in- as only one card will be accepted for incidentals on the room statement - BUT - each room ID will have a unique ID# and the charges can easily be separated and accounted for at checkout.

WIth that many people, I probably would not allow room charges on the cards and let each one just pay for things personally with their credit card. Credit cards are accepted everyplace the room Id is allowed.

I agree with Doc. I would just have them use their credit cards at the parks and restaurants rather than their room key. I means they have to carry both a key and a credit card, but that's no big deal. I figure 2 cards in your pocket is no more difficult than 1.

I'm with Doc! Let each person use their own credit card, cash, whatever when making purchases. I wouldn't want the head ache of figuring out who owes whom what at the end. I have had guests in my room with charging room key cards, but they were family members, & all worked out well.

I agree also.

The only other caution I would give you is to make sure they understand that each person is responsible for their own charges and that nothing is to be charged to the room. You don't want somebody going to dinner and pulling out their room key and saying, "Hey, you never told ME!"

I would specify NO charging to the room at checkin, but that may not hold up in real life, so I'd be sure to check on departure. If somebody does owe something, the time to get it cleared up is while you are still at the resort...not later.

On our last trip we had charging only on my wifes and my room card. I agree with everyone else and would tell everyone the key card is just for the room door, transportation, and nothing else. It's surprising how quickly charges add up so I say spare the grief and don't allow any room charges.

Gosh, I am not a bit worried about anybody NOT taking the responsibility for their charges (yes, I know the horror stories out there). And, yes, i have already detailed what I'm covering and what is Dutch-treat. But probably it does make sense to just let everyone use their own credit cards for simplicity's sake and to rule out any possibility of a mix-up. Thanks for the feedback!

It would probably save you a big whopping headache!!! :headache:

I am pretty sure when you ask for no charging - that the ID (key) says that.

So I would just mention it to your guests.

are you all checking in together?

if not make sure their names are on your reservation. DVC won't let them check in unless their names on the reservation.

In theory it works, but we know how theory goes. Person A winds up with person B's room key etc... LOL! I would just not get charging at all! We did this with just four people and if two of us hadn't been accountants we would still be at the front desk trying to figure it out... the poor desk clerk was just overwhelmed so I took the bill went off to a couch did all the math and wrote a note for each person with thier $ amt..... Never again!!!

CarolA , now with Disney putting your name on the ID, not just the DVC member's name. I think this system might work better.

The problem is that the bill comes out by key number, so you have to sort it. If Disney could give it to me in excel it would go fast.

The other thing to consider with a group this big is at $1,500 they charge the credit card on file... Don't know how that will work at the end when you try to "move" the already processed charges to another credit card, but I would bet that your chances of something getting screwed up are high LOL!
