Well we could try to figure out a way to merge the two in a clever way. Such as "How low can you go! 10 nights in caribbean WONDER-land." or something like that. I'm sure that many of you are much more creative than I am! :listen:

WELCOME Susan!

Let us know if there is anything we can do to convince your DH that you all need to go on this cruise AND a 2007 cruise. We had such a great time on the repo cruise that I don't think it would be hard to convince my DH to do both. Vacation time shouldn't be a problem but there is that money factor :scratchin.
Money is definitely the factor.

Especially with the bomb dropped at work - they may be relocating from Calif. to Texas or Tennessee. So DH is now job hunting, and money could potentially become very tight, very fast. Ugh.

I'm not changing the ressie though until July 1, 2006 :goodvibes that's when I've gotta pay it up or change it.

We should change the name of this thread to "How BROKE can you go!!" :rotfl2:

But I was thinking (and no offense to anyone) about changing the name of this thread to:
"10 days in "WONDER"land cruise"
based on the post by WeLuvDCL(Dawn & Rob)
Original Link (Post #25)

Please let me know your thoughts on this name, another name, or are we happy with the current name? (we still have another 355 days to confirm....lol)

Bumping back to page 1.

Does anyone have any idea what to pack for a 10 day cruise? I was thinking of packing for 5 and doing some laundry but am not sure. I am one of those who always packs way too much for cruises.

You know... I've been wondering the same thing. Especially for those that fly in and have a packing restriction. We had the maximum amount for a 3 night but then spent 2 weeks at the world after. I've been thinking that there will be formal night stuff. So that will be a garment bag. How many different dinner outfits do you plan to pack? I think that the day to day/port day outfits would be the easy part just general shorts/swimsuit/tshirt type thing. But I'm wondering about the shoes/dresses/outfits for dinners/palo etc. How about it 14 night people? Advice!! We've only a year to pack!

I know the one thing I am doing, besides the formal garb, is getting skirts (disney ones of course) and plan on mixing and matching tops to them. I plan on bringing a steamer (shhhh) to steam out any wrinkles.
The formal nights though I am trying to decide if I am just going to bring the one dress and wear it 2 nights or bring 2 dresses.

On a funny note my hubby just got me a "I must not obsess, I must not obsess" sticker :confused3 , you think he is trying to tell me something? :rolleyes1

My vote is Wonderland.

Packing - I always end up packing way too much, this time I think I am just forcing myself to pack less and wear dinner pants/dresses more than 1 time since I only wear them for about 2 hours. I am packing plenty of swimsuits!!

Ok, How is this for a compromise? :flower: Let me know what you think. I used landmark/Kimberly's map design and added port names, a limbo pole and some graphics. Only problem is, the ports are now listed on the graphic and down below. :scratchin I'm thinking I should probably get rid of the list of ports at the bottom, just not sure what to replace them with. If we are doing a WONDERland theme, I could try to find some Alice in Wonderland graphics??? Please offer comments/suggestions. Let me know if you think we should just ditch the "How low can go!". TIA!

P.S. The names you gave to Marilee for the roster will be used for personalization at the bottom.

Peter,

WOW!!...Looks like the 11 Day Cruisers ("The Return to WONDERland ") has a better Video "geek" (lol) than the 10 dayers.

Very Cool Video/Flash Presentation!!

LOVED the design!! I want a copy so i can turn it into a door magnet please!!!!

As for packing, we just did the 14 day repo cruise and I way over packed. for this one ( we are doing the 4 night followwed by the 10 night) I am going to bring a lot less. You can do laundry and if careful get 2 to 3 days out of a "day" shirt.

I like the design, it looks good!!! I am not a very creative person. I am sure it took you some time to do that, it looks really good.

Here is the door magnets I did for my parents last cruise:

I love the design. I would tend to vote to ditch the list of ports at the bottom, since they are already on the CUTE map. One little thing that I might suggest to tweek.......I hate to pick with someone else's work, so this is just a suggestion. Stitch is so cute holding the limbo pole ! but he gets kind of lost against the ship. Is there a way to switch him to the other end of the pole so we can see him?

Goofy Guy.....I wouldn't loose one moment of sleep over the "other guys" pre-cruise video. WE have youo where it counts!

Poohfriend.......love your magnets. Did any of them disappear during the cruise? I would wonder if kids might swipe them. I guess you and your mom's cabin will be prime candidates for best dressed door.

I am also struggling with the packing issues. I think I do not take too much, but this last trip we were just squeaking by at 50 lbs per suitcase. My sister and her DH just left yesterday for a 3 week European land vacation, and they have followed their tour leader's guide three times now about packing.......and they go with backpacks! Last summer they did a Princess cruise to Alaska with us, and they traveled with just those back packs then too. But we didn't do a formal night aboard that cruise, but she did have with her dressy slacks and a top that would have been fine. So I am going to TRY to pare things down a lot.

Pack for 5 days not 10. You will still find that's too much! During the day at sea and Castaway Key swimsuite and cover - up are the only things needed. Most of these ports are swimming too!

The guys have it easy: one or two pairs of pants and 5 shirts to mix and match, one pair of shoes. Tux or suit, one dress shirt, two ties. A few pair of underware and a bathing suit...done. That should give the ladies plenty of room for whatever they would like to pack! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Alex

I normally don't have to worry about packing because we only live 45 minutes from the port and don't have to deal with airline restrictions. However, we did have to comply with the limits for the repo cruise.

We have a set of stacking luggage (they all fit inside each other) and so does my mother. So, the first thing I did was borrow my mother's two largest pieces of luggage. So we had two large pieces of luggage, two medium and two smaller carry-ons, All of them have wheels and can be towed behind each other. We placed the smallest carry-on inside of the other carry-on so we would have an extra suitcase for goodies we bought. Plus, one of the medium bags had some bottles water that we would not be bringing back with us. Just make sure you pack all of your clothes in the large suitcases and you shouldn't go over to 50lb limit. (When we flew out of LAX, they let us go with one bag weighing 55lb.) I did not bother with a garment bag - I packed my gowns and dress clothes in the largest suitcase and tried to fold them as little as possible - of course, they were only in the suitcase for a few hours so they turned out pretty good.

I had never used the ships laundry room before but I did give it a try on the 14 day cruise. Honestly, I wouldn't do it again unless I absolutely had to, but that's just me. By day 8 there was always a line out the door for the laundry room on our deck 6 and the room gets very hot from the dryers. So if you plan on using it to iron, it will be very stuffy!

The 10 night will probably have one formal and two semi-formal. Plus, we plan on dining at Palo one night. Other than those nights I usually wear dress pants and a nice dress top. Some parts of the ship can be cold so sometimes I even wear these pants during the day when we go to the movie theatre, etc. I'll probably pack 3-4 dress pants and wear each twice (with a different top, noone ever notices). Oh, and I don't go shoe crazy!

WOW Heidi! I've never seen so many magnets on a door! :earseek: :rotfl: That must have taken a long time but it looks GREAT! And I bet your parents always knew which room was theirs.

Thanks for the suggestions Marilee!!

Here is the new and improved version everyone, let me know what you think.....

I packed too much for the 14 day cruise. I had just the perfect amount of "dress" clothing but way too many shirts, tanks, and shorts.

Edited to say that I loved all my magnets that Heidi made for me. Not one disappeared. I even got comments from room service on how they loved the magnets. Thanks Heidi!

Now we can see stitch.....and it looks like the Wonder is heading under the bar.....genious!!!!
