Amlee... My DH and I are like your parents!... Speaking of suprising the kids with a trip... my DH and I found that it was EASIER to get going if the kids didn't know we were about to take a trip. Many times we picked them up from school on our way out of town! They loved it. Half the trip was spent in a guessing game of "where are we going?"

This morning we were woken at about 07:15 by a thunder and lightening storm. Nothing too unusual about that as we live on the east coast (we can see the sea from our home). Suddenly there was one of the loudest bangs and flashes of light I've ever seen. Everyone came out of their rooms to see if everyone was alright. I got dressed and went outside to check the house and surprisingly every thing was fine. I went through the house to check the back of the house to be met with smoke pouring out of neighbours roof. It was apparent that their chimney had been hit by lightening and set the house on fire. Almost immediately there were four fire engines on the scene and within 20 minutes they had the fire out. Fortunately, the people were out of the house at the time (they had take a short holiday) but have now returned.

It's our 15th wedding anniversary today and with all the "excitement" we nearly forgot to exchange cards.

My dd loves to tell her friends about her "cool" parents! I used to suprise them by taking them out of school in the middle of the day to go to a movie on opening day. She says she is going to continue doing it with her kids... when she has them.

Wow! All I can say is thank you all for your kind words of welcome. I wish I had found this thread sooner - it would have saved me from booking a Palo reservation for pirate night. Oh well, I will try to change it once on board.

I thought I was doing so well trying to book everything in advance, but I had so much trouble with the DCL website. It took me two days to reserve all of our excursions, Palo, and Flounders for our two youngest. I was able to book what appears to be one of the coveted brunch reservations for Palo, but there were no Flounders hours posted for that entire morning. Does anyone know if DCL would really have Flounders closed during a time that Palo was open? Something else to look into once we get there.

I found the website - great job on that by the way. No one is listed on the excursion list for the Cruise to the Pitons on St. Lucia. Is anyone else planning on doing this? I would love to know if there will be any other children. This is one of only two DCL excursions we will be doing.

I have to give credit to everyone who booked this cruise so far in advance. Booking six months out is a true rarity for me - I never plan a cruise or any vacation this far out. The nice thing about it was so much time to anticipate, and then the sudden realization that we leave in three weeks!

I guess the coolest for me was the one on the last day of school where our parents picked us up. While we were in school they had spent the day setting up the camper at the big water park. We spent the whole summer there. It was a blast.

LOL for the others I guess it would have had to been the cruise in Feb. They had not a clue about it. I had got the DCL video for us to watch. The whole family was here and after the cruise video everyone was talking about how cool it would be to go. That's when my parents told them all that we were going. They paid for it all. Talk about screams and yells!

Oh and my mom called me at work tonight and cheered into the phone that they (my mom, dad, and sister) get to go to WDW in Nov. I was so jealous, Ithink they should take me since I have the Ap and will be planning their trip Oh well at least I get to plan it.
