9.5 hours later.....Harry Potter book 5 is finished....

WOW!!! That's awesome. DD read book 4 in five hrs, but this one is taking her a little longer. Of course if her mom and aunt would quit asking her every 5 minutes what page she's on it would probably help!!!! ;) There's a line at our house too!!!;) DD, then aunt terri, then dad or mom....whoever has time first! She told a couple of things, but I don't want to know everything....I guess!;) She just keeps saying "there's a ton of things you would die to know!" I just smile!!:)

I think it's great how these books have made people, not just kids, enjoy reading again. I'm not a reader and I love these books!! I didn't have any interest at first, but after seeing the first movie I was hooked!!!!;) :)

Happy reading to all!!!:Pinkbounc

I finished last night at 1 am -- 8 hours of reading!! Here's my thoughts, without spoilers:

Definitely a lot of teenaged angst -- I wanted to slap Harry sometimes! I wasn't a typcially agnst-y teenager, so... But I kept reminding myself, you know, that Harry has quite a bit on his plate.
Several parts -- especially Hermione explaining girls to Ron and Harry -- were laugh-out-loud funny, which hasn't happened to me in the other books!
I thought it was going to be someone else at the end, and still ended up crying. Really, really upset me. Why, why why!?

I'm going to re-read today... Now that I know what happens, I can relax and read slower...

I'm only up to page 440. Its very good, and very very fun. I was surprised by the first two chapters as well.

I need to finish it soon, because I have to get cracking on my World Literature book!

I finished last night at 1:30 a.m. I spend two hours reading on Friday night, a few hours in the afternoon on Saturday and finished up from 9:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m on Saturday night!!

When I started reading at 9:30, the next time I looked at the clock it was 10:30, and then the time just JUMPED to midnight the next time I looked up.

I agree, Harry just seemed to be in a perpetual bad mood for quite a bit of the book. A perfectly understandable bad mood, but still.... I wonder if she was trying to reflect his teenage hormones.

I also laughed out loud at Hermione describing girl's thoughts!!

A very good book with lots of action. I was reading so fast a couple of times I had to go back a couple of pages to reread a section so that it would make sense.

Like you, I will now be reading in a leisurly fashion, really soaking in the details now.

I just finished the book. my kids haven't been home much this weekend, so they've barely started to read it.

Thanks DixieDreamer and Silly Old Bear. I got a gift card for my birthday, so I guess I'll be off to the book store to start on book one.

I finished the book this am. I hi-jacked it from DD who was in chapter 4 yesterday, when she put it down. She let me read last night, but told me "I'm getting the book tomorrow when I wake up" so I got up very early this morning and finished it. I had made 2 predictions as to who I thought would die, and it ended up being one of the 2, so it wasn't such a shock. I hadn't linked Harry's age to his attitude in the book (since DD isn't a teen yet). I look forward to reading it at a more leisurely pace next time.

I also pretty much knew who was going to die before it happened, though some of the red herrings were pretty good.

I really started liking some of the formerly "minor" characters that play a much bigger part in this book, both students. So glad it wasn't one of them that died! Good read, worth reading again. Right now the tape is playing in our house. My DH, who loves to read, prefers to listen to the HP books. Jim Dale is so good. Diana

I too love to hear Jim Dale. As the tapes have not arrived, I am going to thoroughly enjoy listening to him read it. Now that I have read it once.
