9/4 Refund - have you checked the amount??

Drcell01 - I am guessing the only thing any of us that "want" to get the refund promised by DCL can do is to just keep on them. I just wish I had the name and number of someone at DCL that is actually "authorized" to make some decisions. Maybe we should contact the Floriday newspapers/news stations and ask them if they know how DCL is treating their customers these days. Maybe you can let them know how Deidra treated you on the phone also. Let me know if you talk to someone.

I'm not going to bicker with anyone on this board because my complaints are not with anyone but DCL. However, I realize that these boards are for information and venting and we are all seeing both of those. I have chosen to keep out of those posts that don't concern me and hopefully I will get some help/information from those that my issues do concern.

I thank you all for any help and if anyone gets to the bottom of anything - PLEASE EMAIL ME!!!! I've already sent my letter to Guest Communications, but that was concerning the pre-cruise issues. Now, I need to compose one on the misrepresentation of refund issue. I am appalled that this is even happening.

I forgot to ask if you were on the bus that went from the resort and broke down by the alligator pond?

Following up on Selvey's point about getting advocates involved, there is a consumer advocate on the radio here in Atlanta who is syndicated in Orlando and many other places. His name is Clark Howard and he actually owned a travel agency at one point, so he knows the travel business and is a fierce consumer advocate and has had great success in getting businesses in changing their tune. His website is clarkhoward.com. Feel free to call the show between 1 pm and 4 pm EDT and tell his staff your story. (I plan to as well)

Lack of communication = understatement. All I have to say about that is thank goodness we were able to take our laptop with us and had electricity when we got to a destination in Orlando on the 5th because we would not have any other communication except for this website and DCL site and the emails we got AFTER we went to bed at night.

Thank you is an understatement to those that kept some of us in communication of what was happening and same to those that are doing that on this thread. I wish I could personally pay you just for the trouble you all have gone through to help keep those of us up to date (and yes, I was scheduled to be on this cruise).

If I don't get my full 50% refund for the 9/4, aka 9/7, cruise, I will get my sister and her husband involved......both are attorney's. I'm not putting up with any run around or misleading statements, i.e., lies, from DCL.

They told me that since I bought my Disney Cruise through a travel agent that they wouldn't refund 50% of the cruise fare. That they would only refund 50% of (fare minus travel agent commission). So in my case, I paid $760 fare for the cruise, but the travel got it for less and marked it up, so I should expect only 50% of $600 or so, not 50% of what I paid.

Why is that outrageous? Why should Disney refund you money they didn't get? Ask your TA for half of what they got as a comission, since they received the difference.

Because the financial arrangement between DCL and the travel agent is between them; I have no idea what their agreement is and I don't really care. What I do care about is that DCL said they would refund 50% of the fare. The fare listed on the tickets from Disney (not the agency) is $760/person and they are attempting to refund less than half of that.

Does that make it clearer?

Maybe clear, but not neccessarily right.

Hope to hear from you soon

cindalu,
I'm sorry. It didn't come through. I have a spam blocker program and it eats some mail. Can you email me at homeschoolmom@mailblocks.com?? thx. :)

Interesting that a select few continue to defend DCL in this when they were not part of the 9/4 fiasco. Until they have experienced all this frustration I would not think they would have any opinion. No matter whether a cat 12 or cat 1 was booked this is still alot of money for those that paid to go on this trip. DCL said 50% refund for going on the cruise. I am sure all that went on this cruise felt DCL would stand behind what they said.

OK- count me in as one of the frustrated! I received 3 separate refunds on my credit card, but of course they do not total nearly the 50% I was promised by those crooks at Disney!

Anyway, someone else mentioned starting a class action suit, which I would be all for. I am sure that on that nearly full ship that sailed, we could get a great number of people to jump on board (no pun intended!). Also, I am sure there must have been a lawyer or two on board who would love to handle it!

I just got my last credit yesterday. Now, i'm just waiting for my voucher for 25% off. I feel so bad for you guys...Good luck getting your credit back.

Travis

Besides my additional credits, I too am still waiting on the 25% voucher. When I do finally receive the voucher, it will be promptly mailed back to DCL with a kind "No Thank You" from me...............

They lost my business for good over this mess!

mostyn17 - I know you have said you got your credits. When you emailed, I don't think you told me. But, being the nosey person I am on this matter, did the credits add up to 50%? And when I say 50%, I mean The entire total you paid minus insurance at 50% off???

nancygop - how much was your credit lacking? Like I said in a previous post, they have told me they are keeping $139/person for port/tax stuff because they have to pay it regardless of whether we went there or not.

Carol RN - so can your family attorneys start a class action suit? I do know an attorney that was on the cruise, but he is waiting for a response to his letter and he would have to be the one to suggest something like this if he is interested. I wouldn't feel right asking him.

I had a client on a Princess cruise last year that was cancelled part way through due to Norwalk. Passengers received a reimbursement for the days they missed, and a credit for future use.

Nice of them to do that.

And then the agency received a "commission recall notice". So yes, cruise lines DO take back part of the commission from travel agents in cases like this. Which from the point of view of the travel agent is horribly unfair, since we've already done all the work for booking them on the cruise, and then we have to deal with the arrangements for getting people home/compensated etc, and now get paid less for more work.

Our total refund has supposedly been processed in several different pieces, but none have yet shown up on either charge card.

I didn't get our refund yet either. Do you know if the travel insurance will be subtracted from this?

I was charged for port fees then credited all but about $2.00 of it. That's the last I've seen on my account activity.

Selvey....I just figured it all out... Yes, they actually did credit 50% of the total back to the account. They are only shy of 76$ and change and i'm not going to pick on that.

That of course does not include my insurance. Which we used anyways for our trip delay.

I'm so sorry you guys are having such trouble. I feel bad for the first timers on this vacation...it's so weird...the confusion just didn't seem like Disney.

I know how hectic all this is,....but it would not stop me from going on a Disney cruise. :hyper: Now lets just cross our fingers that the Panama cruise has no hurricanes! :earseek: I can see it now!!! 14 days at sea!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:

Boy Travis, you are a hard core avid DCL fan!!! That's awesome. So glad to see you have many more cruises in your near future.

One question....did you mean $76.00 or $0.76?
