I did this meal as a lunch as part of the Backstage Magic tour so I don't know if my experience is typical or not.

This restaurant is a bit hidden back by the Muppets 3-D movie. So much that in 10 trips to Disney I can say that I never really paid much attention to it.

To go inside is to be transported into what I perceive as a New York Bronx atmosphere (never been there so I can't say if it's authentic or not). Very dark wood and a lot of red/white checked items. It was refreshingly cool inside and far more spacious than the entry way would have suggested.

Our first course were huge ceasar salads. The lettuce was the freshest I've ever tried and the dressing was a pleasant texture. We were served family style so we could continue to take as much as we wanted and it would be refilled (I don't believe this is typical though)

Then the wood-fire pizza were brought out, my personal favorite was the vine-ripened tomato with the four-cheese being a close second. We were warned not to fill up too much on these as they were appetizers but we couldn't get enough of them!

for the main courses we were served a pasta with claims, calamari, and shrimp. It was very fresh & hot, just not to my liking, wouldn't have been something I would have ordered.

The other main course was eggplant parmesan which I thought was heavenly! I ate more than my share of that one.

And the third main course item was a wood-fire chicken in a cream sauce which I thought was very very good.

For dessert was Tiramisu. Not being a big coffee lover, I found this to be overwhelming but still had to eat some.

It was a pleasant discovery to come here. This wouldn't make my "must do" list but I certainly wouldn't complain if others wanted to come here and I suspect it would be enjoyable to have the Fantasmic dinner package here.

Hubby and I also dined here and enjoyed it very much. Thanks for all you reviews....keep them coming:D

Glad to read this review as we were unable to make our MM ressie last trip and look forward to trying it next time.

We love Mama Melrose and usually go there at least once per trip for lunch. Next Sunday it will be dinner. I can hardly wait.

I really enjoy the flatbread pizzas there too!

Review Mama's is on our must do list when we visit MGM.::yes:: :wave2:

Thanks so much for sharing, IMHO Mama Melrose's is one of the great secrets of WDW.

You know, I've never tried MM. No particular reason why, just one that we haven't gotten around to yet. Maybe next trip. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the very detailed review! Can't wait to try this in December for the 1st time.

Are you not able to pick your entrees at MM for the package? Our family is Vegatarian and cannot eat just "anything" they bring out.

sphere99-

Just to clarify. I was on a tour sponsored by Disney called "Backstage Magic". They asked us ahead of time if we had any allergies, special requests, or dislikes. No one in the group voiced any so this is what was brought out for us.

Since I knew it was one of the restuarant options for Fantasmic, I was just making a comment that I thought it would be an enjoyable place to go. But yes, you do have a choice of what you eat with that package.

Sorry if that was confusing!
