9/27/14, Returning to the Southern Caribbean

Pirates of the Southern Caribbean, Part Deux?

It's a combination of:
Pirates of the Caribbean, Part Deux ... and Pirates of the Southern Caribbean

It would suggest the second time DCL heads for the Southern Caribbean (originally, from 2006 +/-), as well as, being the 2nd cruise of the fall 2014 season.

I vote for Pirates of the Southern Caribbean, Part Deux, too! :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone,

We just upgraded to a Vernadah for this cruise :goodvibes
Now we are in 7634 WOO HOO!!! :cloud9:

Looks like so far the Majority who have expressed interest in a name have gone with:

Pirates of The Southern Caribbean, Part Deux

So this is the last call for any more votes or different ideas. If nobody offers anything different by tonight we will use this as our name.

Then late tonight or tomorrow I will get the FB page up and running. I will let you know when that is done.

Lanyards and T-shirts?

Yes we have done this on several of our cruises.
Many didnt wear the lanyards because they used the ones Disney gave them.
But the T-shirt we all wore the first day on board. Also wrist bands with the crusie date and name have been worn to recognise each other.

In the Terminal we started introducing ourselves because we would see a shirt and go over to the people and chat and by boarding time there were about 70+ of us off to one side talking.

We had several people stop us and ask if we were a family reunion. We said well we are family but we have never met before:rotfl2:

We told them we decided we needed matching shirts so we could spot each other. We got some funny looks. :lmao: But then we explained we were Dis friends meeting for the first time.

By the time we met in the Promenade we had about 150 people including kids all dressed a like. We took a photo of all of us on the stairs.

Back then Shutters displayed photos on the walls and there were massive boarding photos together with everyone in the same shirt. You could hear people making nice comments about this huge family reunion on board.;)

A few didnt want to wear the shirt for their boarding photo but they did change after they boarded into their shirt.

We actually had a graphic artist in our group and he designed our shirts. We were the Bananaheads. We did 3 crusies together. I can ask him about the process if getting them printed if you're interested. I believe we used Cafe Press.
I do remember the more we ordered the less they cost.

It was set up where each family went to Cafe Press web site, found our shirt and ordered for their family so you paid for your own shirts and shipping and handling so nobody got stuck with the bill if someone changed their minds.

If you guys are really interested in doing this for our cruise let me know and I will ask Bill what the prodecure was to get them to do our shirts.

Just what I was asking about. Thanks. We're in for shirts for sure. I like the idea of ordering & paying for our own shirts. It takes the pressure off the person organizing. And I think wristbands would be cool. I usually wear my DVC/DCL lanyards. I have lots of ideas but no knowledge of how to go about it.

Let's keep the imagination flowing so this will be the best cruise. By the time we go on this cruise we will have 15 DCL cruises under our belt. This one makes 16. I think I've seen it all... DISers know how to have fun!

Have a great day!
Jackie

Absolutely!!!

I was thinking of doing lanyards or wristbands as my FE...I've done that before, so I'd like to keep that one for me, ok? ;)

Ok we will be very surprized by your FE gifts of wrist bands :lmao:

Just remember that the FE list will be divided because it will be a large list so not everyone will receive your gift. Unless you give a band to everyone?

Something to think about. Lots of time to decide about this stuff.

I plan to get one for every adult and child...they make childrens bands as well, a little smaller than the normal ones! I also put a couple of other things in too, and that will be for those that are 'on my list'!

Jackie,

throw out any ideas you have!!

We want to hear them all. Thats what makes it fun and can set this group apart from others.

I know on other cruises we have had a Ladies only meet one afternoon (sea day) . Just relaxing and gossiping and chatting about the cruise.
NO MEN ALLOWED!!! It lasts an hour or so. Sometime I'll tell you about the stripper. LOL!

Men can do their own meet.:lmao: You dont want to know what they talked about!!

We also had a scrapbooking meet where all who went made one page (DCL related) for each person who came. We all got great new ideas for when we did our books after getting home.

Another fun thing was a Pin trading meet for anyone who trades pins. Kids are welcome!!! People brought their duplicates or ones they didnt want and we swapped. A couple were serious traders with their black books full of awesome pins and each traded a few. Kids traded with adults and kids, everyone found something to trade for. I came home with 23 new pins.
Plus they have apin trading meet with the officers one evening.

So thats a couple more ideas to think about!!

Plus a meet for everyone in this group to say Hi!!

Going to the store now,

Hope to see lots more ideas getting posted soon!!

So much fun tolook forward too.

I LOVE the scrapbooking idea! but unsure how that works...you have a sign-up first so you know how many pages to make? I'm relatively new to scrapbooking, really, so not sure if anyone would like my pages.....I"m getting better, but way off from what I see others do!

I also like the pin trade one for DH...he's the pin buff. He also has some dupes, but not many DCL...He just made a couple trades with CMs on our last trip to WDW with some of his dupes, it was his first time trading! would it be open to WDW pins as well?

I think a ladies only meet would be great too. DH isn't one for big groups, so he probably would not be into a guys meet, he'd probably stay by the pool!

However, on this cruise we only have ONE sea day!!! It's gonna be a busy cruise!

Another idea is to meet sometime during the afternoon but before early seating/shows to talk over it excursions, etc. we did this in Alaska and it was a lot of fun since we rarely did the same excursions!!

A pre-dinner meet sounds like fun. Maybe some of us will be seated at dinner together, or we can arrange it through DCL. We have 1st seating. Late nights are a thing of the past for us.

I'm 100% in for a ladies meet. The guys can take care of themselves! :rotfl:
Only 1 sea day does pose a problem unless we do mini-meets during the time we're actually onboard... like a drink before dinner, a buffet breakfast mini-meet. We can get together as much or as little as we want.
And when we get to book shore excursions we can post that info too... see, mini-meets! :thumbsup2

I think I should shut up for now...:rotfl2:

Great idea!

I just had a thought. Mary, are you sailing this November on the Fantasy? If so, we are, too!

We'd like to join in but won't be participating in the FE. What's the best way for us to do that? :worship: TIA

I need the number of adults and number of kids...I could do them at an onboard meet.

Most of my cruises, we've met somewhere as a group before the lifeboat drill. On tne Magic, it's usually in the Promenade Lounge right there on deck 3 Midships.

No worries, I am not good at it either. I do have photos of some pages we exchanged, I will share them later and that may give you some ideas. Most were very simple creations but still very nice.

Yes you wont know how many until 30 days before the cruise when we cut off the list or around that time. But while you're waiitng you make one page you like so all you have to do is make copies which doesnt take long to do.

But who ever keeps the list can give updates to those on the list every 2 or 3months so you can keep up if you want. Thats easy to do. Then make a few at a time as needed.
One lady make an example of her page, took a photo of it to attach to the pages she gave us. She cut everything out and put it in a cute baggie she attached to the main page and gave it to us so we could make the page. The photo showed us how it was done, plus we saw her page. Thats easy to do too.

We met in the Quiet Cove Cafe for coffee one morning not too early but before our day got started so it didnt interfere with events or excursions.
We can decide when and where as we find out the time everyone will actually be on the ship.

If you want I can start a list and see if we get enough people interested in the first 6 months or so to do this? If we dont have time for a regular meet we can always exchange at some other meet the group may have to get aquainted. No reason why we cant double up on a few things if we want.

Kick out some ideas ladies if your interested!!!

I believe if we want to do something bad enough we will find a way to work it in to our schedules.:thumbsup2
