Well...just watched the weather channel and it is not looking good for those of us on the 9/26 Wonder. We are supposed to fly in on Saturday at 11pm..which is exactly when it looks like the weather might be nearing. So now how does this work...we have purchased insurance (thru travel insured)..if we can't get into Orlando due to weather our insurance refunds our money right? But if Disney cancels then they refund the money and it does not go thru insurance.

The other scenerio...if they turned out cruise into a 3 nighter..do we have the option to cancel and get a refund?

I know this is a few days away but I just want to be prepared and not upset.
Thanks,

Don't be too worried. I am very much a weather geek, and have been studying everything about this strange hurricane, and honestly it probably won't affect your cruise in the slightest. The only thing you might get is a rougher ride than usual the first night.

I won't go as far as to say the Weather Channel is wrong, no, but keep in mind it is a tv channel and wants ratings like any other channel and will sensationalize somewhat to keep viewers. That's why they do questionable things like sticking reporters in the middle of the hurricanes.

But, if on the far outside chance it does cancel, you have it right as far as how refunds work if that becomes necessary. Don't know what will be the policy if they shorten it.

that's my motto! I'm ignoring the weather reports for now. Keeping a positive attitude. ...Last winter while we were in Florida, the day prior to our scheduled flight out, the weather reporters were forcasting a terrible snow storm for RI. We decided to leave then and there. We called SW, changed flights and had 5 hours to pack and get to the airport. We arrived in RI that eve, thankful to have beat out the terrible storm -- that NOBODY in RI had heard a word of. ARG! And no, it did NOT snow the following day. ...Sometimes my Mom is down in Florida and will call home to check how we are making out in RI in the big storm. "What storm, Mom?". LOL It is usually flurries!

So I will keep packing...

Hope to see you on the cruise!

Well! Finally, someone else who is one the 9/26 cruise! I've been wondering when someone was going to post! :earsboy:

We have been watching it (Jeanne) like crazy too. We are going on the cruise w/my brother's family and my Mom. My brother is in the Navy in Virigina Beach, and he said that we should pack plenty of motion-sickness tablets because the seas will definitely be rough during the cruise.

I have had my children and myself praying over this storm and asking that it be turned back out to sea! :teeth:

But, I do have the same questions you do--what if the storm hits on Saturday and/or Sunday? My guess is that they wouldn't bring the 3-day cruise back into port until the hurricane (assuming it's still a hurricane) passes, and then, they will have to catch the ship up and get it back on schedule. So, I was thinking what IF we get on it late--say Monday? Then, what are the odds they would shorten it to a 3-day to get it back on schedule for the next 3-day cruise?

That would seem pretty yucky to me--because not only would we be getting a 3-day cruise, but odds are that we would not visit Castaway Cay either. Which, speaking of CC, does anyone know if visits have resumed there? The last I read was they were going to try and reopen it on 9/17. Has anyone heard anything yet?

I am starting really worry, too. According the wunderground.com/tropical 4 of the 5 models show Jeanne over Central Florida on Sunday. As a Central Floridian and someone who is supposed to be on the 9/26 cruise, I am starting to feel sick to my stomach. We have been without power for 12 days in the last 2 months and while we are lucky that we have not had any damage it is still a very stressful situation :(

I too will continue to pack and get ready like we are going. We can always hope that if things are too bad in Central Florida that a port in South Florida will be able to accomodate us.

The good news is these tracks change all of the time and we still have time for it to go somewhere else (my vote is just out to sea!).

And yes, Castaway Cay is open!!

CC was visited by the Wonder and Magic on their last voyages. Yes - it is back in business.

I just read a whole other thread (CC Update) about CC, and it even has a picture of the new sign they've put up about Frances. You guys need to check it out! It's pretty neat!

Thanks for all the information! I really appreciate it!

Lets all pray and think good thoughts and make the best of it come what may...
I could get really fretful if I let myself think about this for too long... not a big fan of flying and tend to motion sickness... anyway it is not really in our hands at this point so we'll try not to worry over what will be...
wishing you all safe travels and magical moments... send a prayer our way if you have any extras and we'll see what we'll see.

:) :grouphug:

We are on the Magic this Saturday and hope the storm stays away from the East Coast of FL. Wish us luck and I wish the same for everyone else on the Wonder on Sunday.

My family was on the May 23, 2004 Wonder and will be on the Magic next year!! :Pinkbounc

Some of the women in our family(myself included) will be on the Sept. 26 Mariner of the Seas, which also leaves out of Port Canaveral! I am worried that our cruise will be shortened or cancelled!?!?

I know that the predicted path could change, but we are leaving for Port Canaveral on Friday morning! I guess that we will know even more by tomorrow night about Jeanne.

Here's hoping and praying that Jeanne will head on out to sea!!!
