I was looking through a few other threads, on here, and I keep seeing people suggest that you bring "zip ties". Had anyone else heard of bringing or giving them out at the meet.

Anyway, I really was not sure why I needed a zip tie and someone sent me the following, I will share with our group just in case there is someone else in the dark about the zip ties.:cool2: Or perhaps I was the only one in the zip tie darkness:

:teacher:If you are participating in the FE with your meet group, the zip tie is great for ensuring your FE doesn't get "removed" without your permission from outside your door. Just remember to bring a pair of scissors to get them undone :teacher:

Well anyway, thought I would share as a FYI.

On another note, I start my raw food diet today, and needless to say I better be able to get into this swim suit in the next 54 days....I am already needing meat, chips, cookies, Slurpee, soda and cooked food. So wish me luck with the rabbit food for the next 45 days (that is long enough for me):sad2:

In a thread of FE gift ideas, someone said they were giving rip ties as a FE gift! I thought that was pretty smart!

Oh gosh. There is no way I could do that. You arent eating any meat at all? I am assuming nothing you have to cook you can eat. So something like tuna fish would be ok right? Wow. I am impressed! :cheer2:

Hey P.Leilani, did you need my email address for your ressie info?

I went to walmart last night,& got 3 packs (containing 20) for 75 cents/each. I figured I could pass them around durind the meet to those who need them. I bought all the FE gifts and now I'm wondering if I should just put them together and mail the box to the ship instead of carrying them with us on the plane?
Good luck with the diet.

I will email it once i get home, it is hard to pull up my reservations on my phone.

As far as the diet don't be impressed yet???? day one not looking so good:confused:. I still have to cook for the little one and the soon to be hubby, if I don't cook for him he may not be a soon to be:scared1: And the little one might just turn on me:scared1:

OH sorry! I didnt think about you not having it with ya! LOL Oh boy, your husband should be thankful he has you. I can't cook my way out of a bag! If it doesnt microwave or come in a bag, I dont fix it! On the weekends I would rather have a peanut butter sandwich for dinner than to cook. My cooking nights consist of reheating something that was cooked before, some sort of a mix, or delivery.

This is severely off topic of the cruise, and I am not sure what I am looking for by posting it on here, but I have been confronted, somewhat, with a delima.

I have been at this position for over 5 years. I love my boss. He is very low key and laid back. It's the best job I have ever had. The only way it could be the best job ever, is if I could work from home, and they doubled my salary. I would be in heaven then.

After I finished my bachelor's degree in 2006, I was looking for another job. I was just looking for more money really. I hated leaving that job. Well, of course, I never found one that was right.

So since my resume was posted on monster.com :surfweb: and was never taken down, I have had a recruiter call me at home and email me. She says there is this position that does what I do now (for Husurdady-classic ASP but going to .NET which I have been doing classic ASP for the past 4 years and we are just now going to .NET) and she is saying that I would get at least a $15,000 increase. I haven't talked to the people at all so I dont even know where this would go, nor have I gotten any kind of vibe from the people as to if they would be as great as the boss I have now. I asked about telecommute and she said that was out of the question. Here, i can work from home if needed (plumber is coming by between 12 and 4, or someone needs to stay at home with Victoria) but I cant work from home a certain amount of days a week.

I can't very well take advice from anyone since none of you know my boss! :rotfl:

Anywho, I would hate to leave a job that I do have the option to work from home under certain circumstances to a job that there is no possibility to do that and possibly give up 3 weeks vacation for $15,000 more. My worst fear is to leave this job where there is a good amount of down time and a wonderful boss for money. I am going to leave it in the Lord's hands since He knows if it is for me or not, but I HATE delimas.

Hmmm - that is a dilemma indeed. My husband would love the opportunity to work with .net; he is still working in VB, but he also works from home 3 - 4 days a week and would hate to leave that. You really do have a decision to make, and I feel you are wise to ask for God's guidance. I will pray for your discernment in this as well. Good luck and be blessed!

We haven't even met yet but I feel like we are buddies so I will put my 2 cents in:

no one can answer this dilemma but you and I think you know this!:) But you have done the right thing (just my opinion, so don't anybody get mad at me) by turning it over to the Lord. Money can't buy you happiness just give you a fancier environment to be miserable in:thumbsup2 If you are happy where you are, I would leave it alone. Just me, tho.

Now, I have the reverse position: I am retiring from job that pays fairly well to stay home and work (and follow my dreams!). No job security, no clients (yet) Just my small retirement check after 22 years!

Thanks so much for your input! I don't want to become complacent because that is never good either  I want what God wants beause TOO MANY times I wanted it no matter what and He said "hahah OK!" and oh boy! mistake! I've FINALLY realized that HE knows better than me! I need to let it go and let God made the decision. If I get it, that is what He wants. If I don't, I have no clue as to WHY He would start the interest and then let it die, but I guess it might be to show me that I am happy where I am but also willing to go where He wants me to. I am not sure why I am so "up in arms" about it. Maybe I am excited and dont know if I should be. There will be too many stipulations for this kind of economy but I feel like I can ask that because I dont NEED a job (thank you Lord!).

Oh I would love your situation! To get income (retirement) and focus on my business? SWEET! What are kind of business do you want to start?

Your husband is a programmer too? What does he use now? I went to school for .net but learned through the GUI....which is what the WORLD uses! Does my work use it> OH NO! We must code from scratch! Bad aspect, too much time and too much work! Good aspect, I am learning SO MUCH! and it looks VERY good on a resume. I talked to the recruiter on my way home this afternoon. She said I sounded like a GOOD prospect. We will see. But one of the conditions will be this cruise, and 3 weeks vacation. I just got it and have never been at a job long enough to get it! I dont want to give it up now! lol

Like I said above, he is still using VB. He was promised an opportunity to work with .net at this company over 2.5 years ago and it hasn't happened yet. He has been programming professionally for 25 years now - our son is a software developer as well but his is mostly web based.

I don't blame you for wanting to negotiate the 3 weeks of vacation in at the new company - it takes a long time to get that! I would stick to that as a breaking point if I were you.

sorry! you said that didnt you! LOL I think VB is VB.NET LOL obviously not. Wow 25 years. Awesome experience! Did he used to be a cobol programmer? We have a bunch of them at work. They program the printers.

Hehe runs in the family huh? My husband was a programmer. He is the reason why I got into it LOL

Yeah I have heard of people getting it so I figured if the want me bad enough, then they will do it. It is for Alpaca Owners and Breeders isnt that hilarious? I think it would be really really interesting though.

Cobol - only in school. I programmed in JCL and RPG II. We both used to use punched cards - wait, now everyone knows we're on the old side of things. :lmao:

Hey Jen,

Bill (DH) is in the same boat only within his current company. The Lord has brought a few new possible opportunities in his path recently and he's been praying but confused as to what to do. Don't know why exactly he's having to go down this path...b/c he too wants to do as the Lord leads. Just keep praying...and we will too...and keep holding the Lord's hand through it all! He will never let you down and guide you all the way. Sounds like you know that...but just wanted to encourage you!!!!:thumbsup2

Hi! Well, we are currently stationed in OK, but we are originally from Chicago... :)

The song: "I've got my toes in the water, --- in the sand, not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand, life is good today life is good today"
(this is what I plan to do on Serenity Bay!)
I LOVE Zach Brown Band!

Im from Chicago too! Stationed?? Are you in the Air Force?

Thank you! You guys are so supportive :D

52 more days!!! Oh I just cant wait! This is going to be the most fun vacation I have taken! :yay:

OK this is getting serious. I had the phone interview with the recruiter and she said she felt like I would be a good fit. Then she just called me saying that they want to set up a phone interview (which I asked about because I thought it was foolish making me go on an interview if I wasn't qualified for which I have done in the past and it made me mad) for whenever I could do it! Oh gosh. I am getting nervous. I dont want to change jobs before this cruise! I have enough going on! <deep breath>

Breathe deeply... you have already said if it is meant to be, it will happen with the negotiations you want, so no need to get nervous; just rest in knowing He is in control and thank Him for even having the possibility since not only is it so affirming as to your worth and ability, but it is causing you to rely on Him more right now. Those are good things!!!

Well, I am in the thick of things getting ready for this school year. I wish I didn't pressure myself as much as I do; I guess it is part of my type A personality. I want the whole year planned now, the room set up and decorated yesterday, and all my copies for the first 3 months done and filed as of 10:00 tomorrow - and no, it won't happen, none of it. I was going through my plan book today and when I got to the week of fall break (this cruise), I was smiling like crazy!!!! Soooo, I am just going to try to relax and focus on the great kids I am blessed to have this year and all the things I get to teach them and learn from them. Right! I will still put pressure on myself to get it all done and will need this cruise more than ever.
