Husurdady... Earlier this year DVC mailed us an offer where I could get a free DCL cruise as an incentive if I became a DVC member. I know that promo is over, and wished I had jumped on it then. Do they offer incentives onboard,or should I just wait until the next "better" one?

I am just so addicted to the cruises.....and I haven't even gone on one yet!!

Somehow I don't think I want a cure for that addiction!

How many points do you own? And at which resort? We have already got two cruises booked on the DREAM in 2011. One on May 22nd and one on Sept.24th, both 4 day cruises.Same state room W/ a "V". :) LIFE IS GOOD:)

Don, we only own 160 - only... I didn't think we'd ever own any, so I should be saying, we are blessed to own 160. Let me start over... We are blessed to own 160 at SSR. Our son just graduated from college in May; our daughter is a junior in college, and we are paying off my grad school loans - I finished in 2007. I would love to say in a couple of years we might be able to get more, but truth be told, we will probably be paying for a wedding about then. Who knows! We'll have to see how God blesses us and if it is a possibility at all. For now, I'll be thankful we have the 160.

I have a few How 2 Questions, anyone feel free to jump on in.

1. Anyone out there a Cricut user, if so can you cut the magnetic paper with it. ( I just found a pack for 6.00) if so can you use the regular blade or do you need the deep cut blade. I want to cut and make some Mickey Heads for our door.

2. Dis-boards question- I want to share a link form the Dis-boards with someone else, how do I send them the link via email (Someone is helping me with the decorations for my door and my FE and I want to send the link so they can see the pictures)

3. When is the deadline to add an extra person to your stateroom, I have a late comer who is wanting to go now.

4. Is anyone making an autograph book, if so any tips or suggestions.

Thanks for reading and responding.:surfweb:

Gennifer, I'm not making an autograph book, but there are some great pages on the DISigners board. You can download the pages, print them, and bind them or you can get really fancy and upload the pictures to Shutterfly or some other similar service and have them print them and bind them in an actual book. Just don't forget to include some blank pages if you use the character ones, so you can get autographs of those characters you didn't really count on catching.

The answer to # 3 is, As long as the ship has room for them. Are you wanting in your room? Do you have room in your room. Some sleep 3, others sleep 4.....

Good morning everyone! Thanks to those of you who played along with my silly questions!:lmao:

TJ- gotta try BOMA! It is my favorite buffet and ranks with my favorite restaurant! YUM!

I cannot believe the cruise is creeping up so quickly now! I am busy in full force planning Ryan's 5th birthday party! He wants a pirate party and I am feverishly figuring it all out!pirate: Once that is done, it will be 1mth to cruise time!!:cool1:

Mark -

I was wondering, and I hope you don't mind the question -- if you do, just tell me to go away!

BUT, here goes...

I know my kids are going to go nuts when they see Shadow. They're going to want to pet him and give him some love!! But I'm not sure what the correct etiquette is for an assistance dog?? Is that ok? Do they need to leave him alone instead? Will it bother him (or you!!) if the kids want to pet him??

Please be honest with me - I don't want the kids (ok, or myself!! :rotfl:) to cause you or Shadow any stress on the trip!!

Thanks!

I'm not Mark, but I do remember this topic being discussed earlier on. I encounter quite a lot of service/working/therapy dogs when working, and I believe the proper etiquette is to always ask first if you can pet the animal. Some dogs even have Working Dog DO NOT PET /PLEASE ASK TO PET ME jackets on. This was Mark's reply:

I have a cpl of folks ask me about Shadow.

Normally I let "little kids" & other folks in wheelchairs pet him. But when its a ship Full of kids i dont let anyone.

He works for the "petting" that i give him. If i let everyone pet him, He wont work for me. (sorry)

I'm a trainer of Service dogs.

My husband is so wonderful; he is helping me make the FE gifts! First he played a war game and shot lots of things, so now he can do a little crafty stuff. :lmao:I am really thankful he is willing!

1. When was your first visit to WDW and where did you stay?

2. Favorite Quick Service WDW restaurant?
Pecos Bills...too many great family memories there!
3. Favorite Table Service WDW restaurant?
Too many to choose from!!! Yachtsman, Tepenedo, Narccossee's and ESPN just to name a few! ;) (Love Chef TJ)
4. Name 2 TS restaurants you want to try and haven't?
Restaurant Marrakesh and the new Italian restaurant Cafe
5. Favorite Disney Resort and why?
The Poly...I love the look, the smells, the fun and the memories...it was the 1st place I stayed at as a kid. My other favorite is the Boardwalk....all for the exact same reasons!

And for those of you who have cruised DCL before....
1. Favorite place to relax?
2. Favorite Activity on the ship?
3. Best excursion you have done?
4. First time you sailed DCL.
This is our 1st cruise!!!

I'm not Mark either (I know....we get mixed up a lot!), but I asked him the same question because I wanted to prepare Victoria! He said that normally he would let one or two, but since there were sooooo many kids that would want to pet him, he couldn't let us either. I thought maybe it was a rule for just the seeing eye dogs but it is for every service dog. I'm bummed more than Victoria. He looks so adorable!!

YES they do.I think right now if you become a DVC member the incentive is......a year supply of baby sitting on Sat. night, :lmao: :rotfl2: ...........for give me,:dance3: I just had to say that. When we where on the Wonder last Sept. the incentive was something like a reduction on the per point cost.I don't know what the incentives will be this year, but it will be something I just know. Maybe another DREAM cruise offer. :thumbsup2

Major FE workmanship is done!!! Hooray! We decided we'd like to get one, so they must be okay. It's fun doing them!!

YES,OH YES MIMI , it is an addiction,DW & I said back in 2005 [at 400 pts.], that "that was it", no more pts. But never say never. We started out in 1997 W/ 150 points. NOW...more important things,:thumbsup2 concrats :thumbsup2 on your son finishing college, what is his major?Has he found a job yet? Our DD, is working on her MBA,when she finishes that will be the last of our 4 kids.....all going to PURDUE U. Ds is 41,DD'S are39,36 and 25 respectivly. And I retired at age 50years old [DW ,I can't talk her in to retiring]..........So when you speak of the GOOD LORDS blessing.......I do know what you are talking about, I just wish he could help with my vision problem,as I get older I am start seeing things in a differant way[backwards], for example; my last birthday I turned 26 years old. :lmao: :rotfl2:

YAY! now come over here and help me :teeth:

Sorry Jen, I don't thing we're going anywhere till cruise time. I am trying to talk the kids into going to see my mom (their grandmom who will be 92 in September) over Labor Day, but that would be the only one.

I love the way you count your birthdays! I wouldn't want to go back to 26, but I wouldn't mind claiming 26 now or the way I looked then. :lmao:

Our son (J.R.) graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a CS degree. He did their co-op program and worked with the NSA for 4 tours. He worked part-time for an Atlanta company his senior year, and they brought him on full-time when he graduated. He and a fraternity brother have started a company as well, and he worked on that to try to get it to where it will support him when he finishes his work day with the full-time job. Before they started this company, they spoke to several folks for wisdom, guidance, and mentoring. One of the people they spoke to was the president of my husband's company. He owns a few companies. A few weeks after he spoke to our son, he actually called and offered him a third job, but our son turned it down since he already had the other two. J.R. really wants to work for himself, and I am sure he will be in a few years. The kid is driven. He has run 3 and sometimes 4 internet businesses while in college that still bring in some income too, so he is truly blessed to have 2 jobs in his field, have turned down one in his field, and to have the extra income.

MBA from Purdue - that will serve your daughter well, I'm sure. I know you must be very proud of your kids. It sounds like you have raised them to have strong work ethics and to value an education. Well done!!!

It is amazing to me how the concept of work has changed. I think my husband's and my generation really saw the demise of the "one company lifetime career" and our son has seen the demise the 5 days a week at the office. He works from home most days. His hours are pretty much whenever he wants to work except the one day a week he goes to the office. His office is usually the loft in his apartment - a 5 second commute :rotfl: - and sometimes his hammock. I say more power to them if they can work that way!
